Mom forces son with bad grades to kill hamster, police say

WARM SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia woman is in jail after police say she forced her son to kill his pet hamster with a hammer as punishment for bad grades.

The sheriff of rural Meriwether County told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday that the 12-year-old boy told his teacher about the killing. The teacher reported it to the Division of Family and Child Services, who contacted police.

Sheriff Steve Whitlock said 38-year-old Lynn Middlebrooks Geter of Warm Springs faces one charge each of animal cruelty, child cruelty and battery.

The sheriff's office said she remained in the Meriwether County jail early Friday. It was not immediately known if she had a lawyer.

Meriwether County is located about 90 minutes southwest of Atlanta.

It's supposed to be rainy & yucky the next few days, and I should get to the store for food too. But I just don't feel like it. Not going to make for a happy house, that's for sure.

It's supposed to be rainy & yucky the next few days, and I should get to the store for food too. But I just don't feel like it. Not going to make for a happy house, that's for sure. 

It is so depressing going grocery shopping.  I can remember going as a kid with my parents and having a full cart at christmas time for under 50.00 and my mom would have a look of shock and panic on her face at the cost.  Now I can carry 50.00 in groceries in one or two bags.

We had a beautiful spring like day yesterday, got so much done got my shopping done. Today it's raining and yucky. All I want to do is crawl back into bed.

This Mediacom Cable Box Comes With Invisible Roommate Who Keeps Ordering Porn

Lesley lives alone, and says that despite what any Mediacom CSRs may think, she hasn't been consistently ordering adult movies for the past three months.

I initially had my cable installed in August, and not 12 hours after the cable box was installed, a rep from Mediacom called me to tell me the cable box would short out after that evening and they would send a tech in the morning to replace it. I didn't think anything of it. Not too long after it was replaced I was having lots of trouble with the "new" box. I am now on my third cable box. They did take off $20 for my inconveniences for having so many techs in. But once the bills started coming after that, that hardly made up for all of the crap I have had to go through.

 I said to my children at Christmas that when they were younger, I could do my shopping at the dollar stores, and they didn't know the difference.
