IDF Diagnosed Haitian Boy with Stage 5 Leukemia

Mike, a four year old Hatian boy, who was brought to the IDF field hospital in Port-au-Prince this morning by his father because of vomiting and weakness. Mike, his two siblings and his parents had been living on the street since the earthquake because their house was destroyed.
Dr. Amit Assa ran blood tests, and diagnosed him with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, most likely M5. Given the diagnosis, Mike will most likely need chemotherapy and probably a bone marrow transplant.

Because the IDF field hospital is not equipped to deal with such long-term and complex treatments, and because his condition was urgent, we tried to find an organization to arrange for him to go to the United States and receive treatment there. There was an overwhelming and rapid response from many different individuals and organizations, and a few hours ago a group called “God’s Planet” came to the field hospital to pick up Mike and take him to Miami Hospital where he will be receiving treatment for his cancer.

Trimm stay safe  an angelic monkey Hi Sassy and JSM hope your day went well  an angelic monkey  Bud's girl hope your bronchitis is better today  an angelic monkey

Hi NoRose.   My day was good.   I made a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (like I really need it).    I hope you had a nice day, too.    Also hoping that BG's bronchitis will get better soon.   an angelic monkey

JSM -     prayers for your friend's dogs.
Oh, I love carrot cake, I can't keep cream cheese frosting in the house, the can calls my name and there I am eating it out of the container  ::MonkeyEek::I certainly don't need to be eating that.
Cream cheese frosting on vanilla wafers is the best.

My prayers are with both of your friend's dog's  an angelic monkey That's about right, Zoe more then likely wouldn't go near the steps either, but glad Josef jumped on the bed, amazing what they will do for food.
Hi No Rose, thanks for the prayers for my friend and his dogs. I tried to walk him up the steps with his leash, no way would he do it. I hope Zoe is doing better today. We got your rain today.
I'm sorry you got our rain, but am sure glad it was sunny today, cleaned my balconies and yard, that was fun  There is no way Zoe would climb those stairs, I know her too well. She is taking her antibiotics, and I know that she has only had two of them, but she dribbled a little today and of course I panicked. My husband had to talk me down off the ceiling explaining she just started taking the pills.
Your husband is correct, takes a while for medicine to work, especially antibiotics. I would panic too. I panic now when Josef acts like he doesn't feel well. I am paranoid I guess.

Anyone need a set of dog stairs? I will probably get up in the middle of the night and break my toe on them.

If you are paranoid so am I. I lose all sense of reality with Zoe, worrying and looking for something to happen, and then because I do that, she becomes all worked up. My husband and daughter constantly tell me to stop it, because Zoe feels my worry  Well I know the dog stairs won't work here

It is wonderful. Yet the press always makes Israel out as the big bad wolf. They were the first ones there with search and rescue and a full blown tent hospital.

Oh YEAH! Too bad they go to UofM, 'twould be better if they went to State..but still, it's great that they can still do the college thing and skate too.

I can't wait for the Olympics! I'm gonna have VCRs and DVRs recording so much...I just hope NBC does a good job of showing everything, and yes, I even mean curling! I find that fascinating to watch...I imagine it'd be hilarious to watch it stoned  Monkey Devil!

No Rose, since Josef started acting funny with his arthritis, I imagine the worst. I always have done that with him now that he is an old man. I swear I am going to tell the doctor that my anxiety is getting worse because it has since I have been back from vacation. Zoe does feel your worry just like Josef feels mine.  an angelic monkey

Yes, they are ready to go at a minutes notice. Too bad certain countries won't let them in to save lives during catastrophes. (Iran) Turkey I believe let them in during the bad earthquake they had. J

JSM believe me I know exactly what you are talking about, sometimes I feel like I'm losing my mind with fear. They say a person should get a pet so they feel more relaxed, I hate to say this, but I've been a nervous wreck ever since I got Zoe. My husband reminds me that I was a total wreck when my kids were little, especially when they were sick. I guess there are people like me that worry about everything, and then lucky people that don't.

I forgot you are a State person.  I can't wait for the Olympics either. I guarantee you NBC will show curling. I saw on TMZ one of the SF 49's curls and is the honorary captain of the US curling team. You need to ask your doctor for some marinol (for your bone pain  ) then watch curling.  Monkey Devil!

Oh No Rose, I know. I have never really been a worry wart until Josef came along. He kept me sane when my granma passed away. He was there to wipe my tears away, unlike my BF at the time. Then when he got hurt by the coyotes and he was so scared, in shock, wrapped in a blanket in the back of the truck with me cuddling him, I promised myself that nothing bad would ever happen to him. I guess that is why I freak out if he is ever acting strangely or sick.

WHY? WHY? Why do they have Nationals almost always on the West Coast. Don't they know that this fat old woman needs to go to bed early in order to go to church.  Monkey Devil!

I guess the Olympics will be late too. Oh H*lls bells, I am going to have to take some time off during the Olympics, so I can stay up late. How do you tell your boss you need to take off because you are watching Olympics late at nite?  Monkey Devil!

Tevye, did you see that the kids that took first in dance were from Michigan?

And yet another instance where I can make this stupid cancer work for me!!!  Monkey Devil! Monkey Devil!

I guess that is why I freak out if he is ever acting strangely or sick.
an angelic monkey That is probably why. With Zoe when I saw her at the pound, I was the only one who saw her charm, my husband and kids didn't at the time, and wanted another dog, but I insisted. We are so much alike it is scary.
an angelic monkey I understand, sometimes there is a pet that just grabs your heart. We are so much alike just like Josef and Zoe are.

WHY?

Dear JSM's Boss,

JSM will need to be excused from work from Feb 12-28 for medical reasons. She will be having back spasms, migraine headaches and broken tailbone-like pain. Of course, she may be able to work part time. I will allow her to work from 12 pm-5pm only, and then only if she feels up to it. Naturally, I am sure her insurance and benefits package will allow her to collect full time pay.

Thank you very much,
Dr. Wing-Wong
