JSM, I will switch back. And I can tell you by looking at some sitting at the free clinic/doctor's office  were sitting there ready to get their pain pills. I on the other hand, who needs them, don't get them.

OMG NoRose, I totally feel your pain!! I have similar pains as well.  Problem is these days the doctors are all so scared to give out strong pain killers b/c the DEA has made it hard on them apparently.  They don't want to get into trouble for prescribing.  Ok, fine, I can understand OVER-prescribing, but a 30 count of low dose vicodin or soemthing similar.....what the hell is wrong with that?  You know??  I got the same issue when I went to a couple of different docs, I was afraid by the time I tried a thrid dr. b/c I swear he was looking at me like I was just seeking drugs.  But he fianlly gave me tramadol for a while, then wouldn't refill it anymore.  Whatever---I hate doctors these days.  I might try going to an older doctor that my friend sees.  He sounds much more compassionate and understanding.  The younger ones are just the opposite!!

  It's awful, I felt like a criminal or something, OMG I'm not looking for a stash of drugs like Michael Jackson did. I don't like the younger doctors either.

Rose, here's an idea for you to present to your old doctor (the new guy sounds kinda sketchy):

Decide what drug you think will work for you. Talk to others who have the same or similar problems. Research the drug, especially the chances and signs of addiction. Decide how much of the drug you will take. Present this info to your doc. Tell him that you will see him every month if necessary for a check up. (That's what the DEA looks for, and scares the snit outta docs: many scripts, very few visits). Explain to him that you understand he's scared of the DEA, but that you are not a kid, you're not looking for a buzz, and you are in pain. If he still refuses to work with you, insist on a referral to your local pain clinic. They deal especially with chronic pain patients.

(Personally, I'm wondering why your doc hasn't done some testing to see WHY you are always in pain.)
This is all just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. I have found that when dealing with doctors, if a patient acts informed and proactive, they get better results.

Thanks Tevye, my doctor knows why, I have bad arthritis and bulging disks. He has suggested a pain clinic, but after reading about it online, the one he was going to send me too, I didn't like what I was reading, but when I change back to my old doctor, I will tell him to authorize the visit for me.

NoRose happy to hear the Zpack is kicking in - the young docs can be difficult sometimes.  I worked in a urology clinic for awhile and the one thing I learned was that privately held medical groups tend to give better care because the doctors money is on the line - this came from the docs themselves - not sure if you have any practices near you that are private but you may want to check into that.

That is when you wish you would see them spin out and end up in the ditch - why is it they think they are insurmountable? 

  I wish they would spin out, but they would probably hit me. I think because they were driving 4 wheel drives, they think everyone can go their speed. I can't and I almost spun out trying to get up a hill. 

They are just fools to drive that fast on icy roads 4 wheel drive or not. So glad you made it to work okay.  Just taking daughters dogs out this morning did slip and slide on the porch and yard. 

Be careful out there Greeneyes you don't want to fall and break something.

Hope everyone is safe and well, sorry about the rant and run yesterday i was having a young life crisis/ life epiphany....

took many breaths and had a few self talks, just need to lead my life better and be the most i can be and not drink so much    but i can do it i just have to want it, and i finally really do, so i am taking baby steps and one day at a time

He has suggested a pain clinic, but after reading about it online, the one he was going to send me too, I didn't like what I was reading, but when I change back to my old doctor, I will tell him to authorize the visit for me.

He has suggested a pain clinic, but after reading about it online, the one he was going to send me too, I didn't like what I was reading, but when I change back to my old doctor, I will tell him to authorize the visit for me.

NR? I've had severe arthritis in my thumbs since I was thirty. It was so bad that they actually removed a bone at the base of my right hand thumb and replaced it with a tendon from my arm. They recommended the same procedure for my left hand. NOT! After what I went through, I swore my left thumb would fall off before I allowed that to happen again!

Anyway, I discovered something years ago that really helped and I'll pass it along, in hopes you might want to discuss it with your doctor. I noticed that when I was on certain antibiotics for illnesses, the arthritis was much better. I started looking on the internet and found that Kathleen Turner had literally been bedridden with arthritis until her Physician put her on a low dose minocycline along with the celebrex she was taking. Her recovery was nothing short of miraculous. I've been taking minocycline daily for years and the intervention has been a God send for me! I recently had pneumonia and was taking stronger antibiotics and had no symptoms at all of the arthritis, but apparently taking strong antbiotics for extended periods of time can have unwanted side effects, so I stick to the minocycline. The Physicians I work with say that they know the regime works but that there aren't a lot of studies that have been done to answer why.

No Rose, I think a pain management clinic would be good for you. I hope you get to see your old doctor soon so you can get some relief.  Arthritis s*cks, I have it in both knees and big toe, I can't imagine having it in your back, or hands. That has got to be the worse pain.

Hi CBB, I never heard of using an antibiotic for arthritis. That is very interesting. Glad you get relief from it. Do you take it with celebrex? I'm sorry you suffer from arthritis in your hands I bet that is the worst.

Green Eyes, sure hope you didn't hurt yourself when you slipped on ice, that can be terrible, sometimes no matter how careful there is a patch of ice you don't see  CBB I wrote down the antibiotic you suggested minocycline I will sure ask the doctor, thank-you. I can understand why you didn't want to have surgery on the other hand, if a person can get by without, that is the best. I said no to surgery on my back years ago, and am sure glad I did. Metal bars in the back, by now if I would have done that, the bars would be all rusty I'm sure  They said my movement would be limited, not like it was, I thought, you think  a back shouldn't have metal bars in it.

It is, and just another thing I inherited, I wish that I could have inherited something good. Though my blood pressure was good, unlike everyone in my family that had or has high blood pressure.
