BBL Monkeys. Going to eat with the family I was walking Josef and this dog comes running up without a leash. His owner is on the phone way down the way not paying a bit of attention. So I will have to walk Joe when I get back.

Emergency workers responded to the call around 4 PM.

The shooting happened Friday afternoon in the university's Shelby Center, a science building. University police secured the building and students were cleared from it.

We will bring you more information as it becomes available.

Have a good time JSM and be careful coming home. I don't understand why people don't use leashes when they walk their dogs.

we have a countdown clock and all events before the events right now on the channels

That's awesome Northern. I hope I get to see the torch lighting tonight. That is my favorite part.

Mine as well.  My son and I thought it was going to be Walter Gretzky lighting the cauldron but with him running today it is someone else.  I was just talking to son and we were trying to figure out who else would make sense to light the cauldron.  I figured one of the original crazy Canuck skiers or Nancy Green and he was thinking Wayne Gretzky or someone that won gold medal hockey.  We both thought it would be really cool if it was Michael J Fox as he grew up in BC.

A man who has admitted taking steroids and is not Canadian has no business carrying the torch at all let alone on the final day IMO.  Glad is was very early and pouring rain!

Although I would rather it be Ahnold than Obama carrying the torch. Obama won't go to the Olympics because he is still pizzed Chicago didn't get the bid  Monkey Devil! Bwwwaaaahhhhaaaaahhaaaaaa

You and your son just might be right, Northern.  This morning the Today Show was saying that Wayne Gretzky was the "odds on" favorite, but they heard a rumor that he would be the person to run it up to the cauldron and Nancy Green would light it...personally, I'm just really excited that the
Olympics are starting and I can't wait to see as much of Vancouver as possible.

I lived right outside of Vancouver for several years in the Fraser Valley when I was way younger.  It was fun except for the winters.  So grey and socked in all winter with a light drizzle, could not even see the mountains for months.  Vancouver now is a whole different animal then when I lived there but I do have fond memories (or at least the ones I can remember).

OK, I'm so not feeling the love for the commentator on NBC tonight. This is opening night, where's Bob Costas? I want a known face behind that desk...

OMG, they're playing "Waterloo" in the background of the skater interviews.!

They are doing a moment of silence for the Georgian Luger tonight during opening ceremonies and the Georgian team will be there marching. I hope the crowd cheers like heck for them!

I googled Terry Fox, what an awesome story!! What an inspiration! Thanks for bringing him to our attention.

I hope the person who lights the torch also has the last name of Fox. I have 2 boxes of Kleenexes for this Olympics.

OMG he was amazing, just thinking of his walk across Canada for cancer was amazing., especially with one leg.  There is a huge monument where he had to stop his walk before he died.  We took the kids there one summer and I was so overcome with emotion.

I saw the video of the crash...I'm sorry, but the designers and IOC should be held liable for this man's death. The fence is not high enough, and the beams should have been padded. True, that may not have saved him, but it would have at least shown some concern for the lugers and sledders.

That track is too fast and the corners are too sharp. Others will be hurt badly I fear.

Ooh, hi Monks! I got my puter back...it works, but differently. It no longer burns DVDs, i emailed the tech guy who worked on it, was smart enough to actually include the error message, and he actually wrote back and told me he'd order the superdrive and let me know when it's ready. Cool!

On a weather note...I heard that for the first time ever, all 50 states had snow. Do they have snow in Hawaii???? We've friends vacationing there (I hate them!) and they've not mentioned any snow.

Can't believe TX and FL had snow! how fun for them (Josef of course! no flip-flops. JSM, mud boots only!)

It's good to be back, and even greater to have friends to watch the Olympics with!!! Screw homework...the O's aren't on 24/7. are they?

Northern Rose, your country is beautiful!! Won't you sponsor and adopt me??? Pretty please???
