Baby Gabriel Search Heads to TX Landfill (with video)

Investigators in San Antonio are expected to search a landfill, looking for the body of Baby Gabriel.

The area has been roped off, but so far police won't say when they will begin searching the landfill.

But the search is going to be a difficult one. Detectives here in the valley conducted a similar search back in 1998, looking for the body of Cookie Jacobson.

FOX 10's Miriam Garcia spoke with investigators who searched for Jacobson's body. They say it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Meanwhile, authorities say a criminal complaint has been filed against a Scottsdale woman who wanted to adopt an Arizona
baby missing since late December.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 37-year-old Tammi Smith has been accused of conspiracy to commit custodial interference and forgery.

The criminal complaint essentially is the step between an arrest and a preliminary hearing or indictment.

Tempe police on Tuesday arrested Smith on suspicion of trying to pressure the father of 9-month-old Gabriel Johnson into signing over his parental rights. Smith was released from jail Wednesday morning on a $15,000 bond. She and her husband have denied any involvement in the baby's disappearance.

Honestly, I wish they'd just go ahead and search the landfill.  Of course, that's easier said than done to be sure (not to mention costly also).  At least that much would be eliminated.

In the Sandra Cantu case I know a few of the people that searched the dump, I recall one person told me it was awful to dig through all of the trash, it was very gross but what was worse were the feelings that go through you.... you are hoping to find something and at the same time dreading it. I really do not think he is in there. I think he is alive, I really do.

DARLA I'm a tough old bird and hardly anything impresses me, but you have impressed me with what you've done.  I think that getting Travis in touch with your friend Pat is really a very good thing and you should be proud of yourself as I am of you. I don't think Tammi should have Hannah when her biological father loves her and wants her and was somehow tricked into not knowing what was happening.  God, I hope they don't give her daily enemas.  Someone should check on that.

I have been wondering why Texas hasn't started the searching of the landfill. Could it be that they think Gabriel is alive or are they waiting for some one to come up with the cost to do it? I know that doesn't sound very nice but they are do some very odd things here.  You would have though that would have been one of the first things they did to rule it out. I know it would be costly. But to wait much longer just isn't a good thing in my book.

How is the victim also the prosecutor?? Would this not be a violation? What am I missing here?

I'm not sure how TN law works, however I lived in a state where in certain instances of domestic violence, where there were no real witnesses, the victim can call LE and then the victim places the offender under "citizen's arrest" with LE present; then the victim has the right to bring the charge themselves, even though it does get handled by the courts. Perhaps this is a similar situation?

I was added very quickly last night as I posted earlier probably saw my name and her d.a (dumbazz) thought oh goody a famous writer which we have the same name, lol as you can tell I have awful writing skills...anyway today when I went to my FB and saw her mug all over my page I ask her to remove me as her friend, I got couple post from her friends saying to Tammi it was not a loss to remove me...weird huh

TS must feel so powerful online, being able to add and remove people in a whim. Wonder how she'll react in the courtroom when there's no button allowing her to "ban" those who are asking the hard questions?
