Child pornographer, abuser is sentenced to 150 years

A man who admitted to molesting four Alachua County children and using them to manufacture child pornography has been sentenced to 150 years in federal prison.
Keith Edward Olmeda, 33, was also told that if he were ever released from federal prison he would be on probation for the rest of his life.
According to a statement of fact signed by Olmeda, the victims were a boy and his three sisters who were all between the ages of 5 and 10 when Olmeda began victimizing them. Olmeda sexually battered the children for about two years, beginning in May 2005.
Olmeda said in his statement that he knew the children because he was their mother's live-in boyfriend. He also admitted that the sexual battery went on for about two years at various places around Alachua County and that he recorded his actions.
The crimes were disclosed about a year ago when the boy told his father what had happened to him and to his sisters. Olmeda was arrested on state charges in the case.
In his statement of fact, Olmeda admitted that in July the mother of the four children found a camera at a home she had shared with Olmeda in Port Orange. A memory card in the camera included 10 videos. The woman recognized Olmeda in the videos, which showed him sexually abusing children. In some of the scenes, investigators said, "Olmeda's body can be seen in the videos, and his voice can be heard directing the children." The children in the videos - who were identified as the four siblings - can be heard referring to Olmeda as "dad."
The case was transferred to federal court, where Chief U.S. District Judge Stephan P. Mickle handed down Olmeda's sentence on Monday afternoon. Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Williams told Mickle that "all we really have on the record is a sanitized description" of Olmeda's actions.
Mickle told prosecutors that he was glad they did not present even portions of the recordings.
"I was disgusted by what I even read," Mickle said. "It made me sick to my stomach."
Before Olmeda spoke, Mickle listened to the father of one of the victims.
"My daughter is now on a roller coaster (emotionally) and she will have to deal with what he did for the rest of her life," the man said. Although the girl had agreed to participate in counseling, her father said she recently began refusing to attend the sessions.
Williams said he wanted Mickle to hand down "a sentence that reflects the horrific nature of this crime."
Olmeda told Mickle that he has been having nightmares since "I did this stuff. I am haunted and disgusted by my actions. I am sorry for what I have done to these children."
Olmeda also claimed that, since being arrested, he has stopped smoking and cursing.
"All I do now is read the Bible all day every day," Olmeda said.
Despite Olmeda's claims of repentance, Mickle chose to sentence him to serve five consecutive rather than concurrent 30-year prison terms for a total sentence of 150 years.
