I haven't had a tuna casserole in years. Are you not allowed to eat meat on Friday during Lent? As a kid we couldn't eat meat on any Friday, and then that changed.

I remember as a kid not being able to eat meat on Fridays - but I would sneak some during school - always wished that Jesus would have been a dairy farmer so there would be no fish on Fridays!   

I am not and never have been Catholic, but I do like fish! LOL

My grandmother became Catholic later in her life and when she was visiting on Fridays, we always had to have fish.

However, I always thought all that not being able to eat meat on Fridays was a little odd.

I figured out a way to tape the skating tonight while we are watching curling and hockey on the big screen.  Let me know which of the teams you want to see pictures of if NBC does not show the whole thing.

  Speaking of, I just heard they were cutting off the sale of alchohol in Vancouver at 7 pm.

They did that last night with 1/2 hour warning to all the liquor stores.  Today with 3 hockey games they are expecting to shut down all liquor stores early as well, not heard that they had done it but would not be surprised.  That hockey game is going to be nuts and one of the US players just did an interview and said he hates Canadians.  He may need extra security after saying that he knows we are passionate about hockey but he hates us. 

That is what I heard that they were closing at 7. I guess that is a smart thing to do. I hope that American doesn't play NHL or plan on playing in the NHL because there are more Canadians than Americans in the NHL

I was just in my garage, and I heard this sharp shrill sound, I thought it was a kid yelling, it was a crow  I'm not sure why the crows here are so huge, I swear they could carry away a small cat or dog they are nasty birds.

I hate crows and Josef tries to eat them when they are not looking. 

That's what happened the other day. Two of them were grazing on the grass, and I really think Zoe thought they were cats, because usually she doesn't care about birds. My husband just told me he believes those are Ravens not crows. But whatever they are I don't like them.

I don't like them either Raven or Crow whatever they are - I love my dad dearly but he is strange because he loves the crows 

My youngest daughter loves crows also.

Crows, blackbirds, whatever you want to call them, they are nasty. They send a little scout out and he signals the rest of the group (I think a group of crows is called a "murder") and they all come at once and turn my whole yard black!!! They scare off all the nice birds from the bird feeder and eat ALL the food.

I have tapped on the window and the group leaves, but the scout is not scared off easily. When I can get him scared off, in no time, he is back and signaling for the "murder" to return.

I do not like crows/blackbirds.

Russia just beat the Czechs in hockey 4-2.

Time to put more TP in the arena bathrooms , bolt down the seats tighter,  recharge the kegs and bring on the US Canada game! 

Hope you have a grand time tonight Northern Rose. 

If nothing else we will have good food.  I am roasting a duck, one neighbour is bringing over a ham and I can smell my other neighbour's smoker all day so he is making sausage to bring over   

I hope the duck doesn't have a name. he is bringing Norbert sausages?

I've been reading, catching up, and I have to say, you guys with your Olympic commentary had me giggling like a school girl.  You guys are a hoot!  (That's what I meant, JSM, when I called you a hoot the other day) You make me laugh.  Such insight, such imagination!  You are all gifted

  Hi MindonFire, you need to be here tonight for the OD when the Russians skate. I am hoping Tevye gives us her great costume commentary because their costumes are CRAZY and controversial.

Brandi, I like fish and chips, but not every Friday. Glad this only lasts 6 weeks.

Yep he is still playing. My favorite hockey player is from Canada and even though he isn't playing on the team this year I want to root for Canada. I love Marty Turco and his dad is just the cutest thing.

Tragedy strikes Rochette

The mother of Canadian figure skating champion and Olympic medal hopeful Joannie Rochette died suddenly in Vancouver Sunday morning, shortly after arriving to watch her daughter compete.

Canadian team officials said Therese Rochette passed away after being rushed to Vancouver General Hospital.

Cause of death has not been determined. She was 55.
