This song makes me cry ever single time I hear it!! Brandi, if you go to about page 33 of the test thread, there's pretty easy directions for posting you tubes. Altho it took me forever to get it!

Good morning everyone!!

Do any of you have bad dreams, like way bad nightmares? the kind that you are so into and is so real that you wake up just as tired if not more tired than when you went to bed, from going thru the hell in ur dreams and fighting so hard for things???

Not usually, but last week I had one that was so bad, I flew outta bed and was looking for the cast iron fry pan to apply to DH's head! Good thing for him I realized halfway to the stove that it was only a dream!!

Warning: personal junk ahead...

I always cry on chemo day, I don't know if it's the anticipation or the drugs or what, but I usually cry on the way there (Tom Petty and Rehab usually fix that) or during (if I don't hit the FF button quick enough when Adagio comes on my iPod) or on the way home...again, usually music fixes that. Today, Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly" came on, which made me think of my Alaska son...cos that's what he's learning to do...not the flying part (he does that awesomely on his snowmachine...he just got back from a 2 week trip out East putting on shows.awesome!) but the learning to land. Anyway, I starting thinking about how for his whole life, I have been the one person that he could say ANYTHING to...I always used to tell him that he would open his mouth and let ANYTHING fall out, and I could take it.

Today, I realized that he's had the same purpose for me. He's the one I can call up and swear a blue streak for an hour at, and we laugh all the way through it. He's the one who knows how hard it is to fall, and how hard it is to see the looks in others' eyes after you fall...the "I told you so's", or worse yet, the "I feel sorry for you".

So today, I realized there's a lot of junk about this cancer that I haven't verbalized. Why? Well, cos I'm the Mom, the Wife, the Mimi. I am invincable! Only, really, I'm not. but there's only one person I can tell that to, the Alaska son. He "gets" me, and he won't be scared when he sees how scared mad sad pissed off and grateful I am.

I know that today he's flying from Boston to Anchorage (Oh, I wish I were there!) so I figured I'd call him and maybe on a layover he'd call back. When I called him, I was crying, couldn't stop. Told him there was nothing really wrong, but that I really REALLY missed him right now. I need to open my mouth and let ANYTHING fall out. I didn't want to scare him, but I needed to talk to him.

So, he calls me from O'Hare, makes sure I'm ok, then says "OK, lady, so what's really wrong?" I tell him I miss him, I want him home RIGHT NOW, but he has to stay in Alaska until he does what he's set out to do. They will all be home in August for good...but I don't want to wait that long. But, I'm the mom, I will. Anyway, he regaled me with stories about the snowmachine shows they put on, how he must have signed 10,000 autographs and said "See? Member when you were homeschooling me and always ragging me about my bad handwriting??? Well, lady, I found it don't matter what it looks like, people want it!"

So, as usual, we ended a very profane laced conversation with lots of laughter. It was good. I stopped crying.

And I AM SO FRIKKIN' GLAD TO BE DONE WITH CHEMO!!! Now, in about a month, I should be getting some hair back. boy, red cowboy boots and hair...look out world!!!

Tevye your post made me smile and tear up - but what it did most for me is to realize that no matter how strong we are viewed by our families and friends there is a part of us that isn't, and needs to let loose sometimes.  I have always been viewed as the strong one in my family/friends circle too, and damn it sometimes I hate playing that part - sometimes I don't want to be strong, believe it or not us tough nuts on the outside really do have softness on the inside that needs to be heard sometimes.

Thank goodness for your son - the one you can open up too and let it out, that is a gift and I can tell by the end of your post it is just what you needed today and I am so happy you got it.   

Now about that hair and the red boots?

I have been on the phone and computer with Workman's Comp people and our Attorney already.     It is only 8:30 in the morning. I am stirring the chit early.
Over paid office workers with titles are no match for me today.   
I am ready!

had to skip a few pages to say this...back to catching up...will only be here off and on tonight..I bought some of those space bags and I am going to pack away sweaters and stuff that I don't wear that much...getting ready for the move! hope that I am unpacking them next winter in the new house and not still here in this house...that won't be good lol!
