Wow, I didn't have that happen. I don't know what's going on but it's kinda scarey to see it happen!

It is scarey so if y'all don't see me online til later tonight you will know why. It took forever just to scan for viruses last night. It found two trojans on Friday night and the only website I looked at was SM.

I know it was SM cause it happened the second the SM page opened up. I was expecting a regular pop-up advertisement. Instead a window popped up to scan viruses. I saw things like trojan and some other scarey sounding viruses. Not good! 
My computer took care of everything but you still get nervous when it happens! 

QM, that is what happened to me, I think it is called malware and I shut down immediately and ran my virus scan and had two trojans that were deleted once the virus scan ran. 

I have never had a problem - but I keep my firewall on my network pretty high. I also have spybot that immunizes your system so the threats never make it to my secondary virus scanner Avast. I do know that my hubby got one on his work computer called Security 2010 that masqueraded as a scanner that you should download. DO NOT DO IT!  I could never eradicate it from his system and ended up buying a new computer and wiping the old hard drive clean. He was due for a new computer anyway but still - what a pain in the butt!

Hey TBM, I have never had a problem until Friday. We have had the problem at work and that is how I knew it is a fake scanner. One of our employees did the scan and it took forever to get the hard drive fixed on her computer.

I wish I had a Mac, it is a Toshibo something or other, and it is pointless, my husband is as clueless as me, and he can't even get through to the cable company, and I have a glass of Baileys.

I have a Toshiba as well No Rose, I don't have a clue on what to do to help you. I wish I could help

I'm sorry No Rose. Is it not connecting to the internet or just not working? My step dad and I figured mine out, the only thing is mine isn't on a wireless connection so I trip over my long cord. I don't trust wireless because my nephew spent the weekend with me and somehow used a neighbors wireless connection. 

I have a routier, I don't know how to spell it, hooked in to my regular computer, and it should work for the laptop, but so far we don't know how it is suppose to work with this new computer.

I have a router as well and just plug my laptop into the router that my PC uses. There is a wireless doodad that you plug into the router to make it wireless. I don't have that, I just use the cord into the router. You might try that and see if it works.

I have both, I'm going to see if my daughter can do that, I just gave her the instructions, it is pointless for me to read it 

I understand No Rose, I get disgusted and then pizzed and throw my hands up. I hope your daughter gets it working, if not maybe where you bought it from has a way to help you out or call out Geek Squad if you have it there.

I have a router too Rosie...how far are they from each other? they have to be a certain distance to recognize each other...we had problems at first cause of he distance from each other..now it works great...
I have wireless on my laptops...I secured them so that others can't use my wireless...if it isn't secured, then others can log on their computers using your wireless...

cookie we have a router and the modem, everything should be hooked up, but it isn't working. I'm going to call Walmart I think they have like a geek squad type thing there that can help. I have to go to bed, my ear is hurting and I'm so stressed from this I'm going to scream. Hope everyone has a good night.

yes, Mission, I made it thru the brutal homework, welll, almost all of it. I gave myself last night off, had to watch NCIS and LOST (whaaat?? No Sawyer, AGAIN?? no fair!) and am now finishing up some papers that needed to be edited and fixed. blah blah blah..I'm so tired of all this!! But, of course, after the jail, I will go to my favorite old bar in town and finish them there. Not to drink (I don't drink much), but because I can just sit at a booth in the back and work and drink DC and kill time between the jail and class. Hmmm... maybe I will have a drink?? Naw, that would be too mean for my instructor. I'm bad enough sober!
