Think about it like this...If it had been him, he probably would have filed a claim against the ownership for his injury and got a hefty settlement.

This past weekend the New York Times had there travel show here in New York and for the second year I attended. Over two days they have 50,000 plus people (take or give a few thousand)

Good news for the Caribbean is that as you entered the show the first section was devoted to the Caribbean islands. Even better was that the Aruba booth(s) were very close to the entrance as well.

Bad News was how and who they had at the booths. Last year they had "contests" and "give-a-ways" twice a day where you got anything from a t-shirt, licence plate cover to a stay at one of the islands resorts. This year, NOTHING! I didn't even see a "mailing list" for anything. The people manning the booths were at best cordial. There was no "Hey how are you". 90% of the time they were sitting down and were not pro-active when people came by.

NOTE TO ARUBA TOURISM AGENCY: Next year pick some of your better "FRIENDLY ISLAND" people or hire me to be the front person for Aruba.


Now before you jump on me for this I was there early on the first day. The other "islands" were very pro-active, happy to see you, had food, booze (rum) and live music, give-aways, etc, etc.


My new tag line for Aruba.............. "THE KINDA FRIENDLY ISLAND"

That explains why they had all of the people on the Early Show the other morning.....the travel show.

They had about 25 people dressed in Aruba T shirts.  Harry Smith got one to admit that he was really
from the West Side of NY and was hired to stand there.
Then they had a bunch of dancers in their big Carnival Feathered Suits.  They were all out of step and
did a terrible job.
Maybe they can work on those things for next year also.
