Am wondering what y'all think of this?  Here's a question being asked over at WS....

If a plea were to be offered to someone who LE thought had involvement & information, would the family have to agree to it? Could that be why they were all called in yesterday?

I believe that would be up to the state of Florida.  I don't think the family has any input.  imo.

I think it is so cool when a monkey has the opportunity and takes the time to go to the area where a case is and take pictures to share with us.

I want to thank GrnLzrd very much for her doing that for us. I hope she will read this post when she gets home. I made this little thank you using her images of the news vehicles (from yesterday) and her own "ride" (from today.) Wink

This is how I will mentally picture her from now on. LOL

Brandi
- I love it!  I just emailed it to GrnLizrd

I agree! I appreciate Grnlizard so much, too. And that pic Rocks Brandi!!! Smile

Cops searching river right now for Haleigh’s body

"...However, we spoke to many sources close to the case and were told that information obtained during a polygraph exam is what led the police to this latest search. Even though Putnam County officials would not confirm where the tip came from, an attorney for Tommy Croslin stated that today's activities were prompted by information provided by his client.  ..."

YOu do all realize that if it wasn't for all these people like NG, AH, etc. we wouldn't know much of ANYTHING at all?  Actually, unless we lived locally, we probably would have never even heard of this story?

I don't use NG, AH or Simon Barrott (sp) as a news source so it wouldn't make any difference to me.  I go directly to the local news websites to see if there is anything new being reported in ANY case including this one.

If NG, AH and Simon dropped off the face of the earth tomorrow it wouldn't make any difference in my world.  I'm not saying they should, just saying I wouldn't miss them.

And we forgot all the talking heads that don't say much of nothing while yap, yap, yapping away.

I haven't seen Dennis Milstead and his utterly disgusting wife nor Pappa Jojo and his utterly disgusting wife

This is a "love bowl" moment in Satsuma today and they're all missin' it. Maybe they think they'll be shot in that neighborhood!

They were there on Feb. 12, 2009! Didn't miss a beat! IIRC, GA was asked to leave by Ronald. (Good call!)

there's a special place in Hell for that jackass - right on Paulus van der Sloot's lap for all eternity.

did I say that out loud?     an angelic monkey

Hear, hear Rob!

Worthy of note:  And asked to leave just like recently when they showed up in the Nadia case (still rejoicing over that miracle).

http://www.ocala.com/article/20100414/ARTICLES/4141010/1016/ENTERTAINMENT?Title=PI-says-his-tip-led-to-search-in-Haleigh-case

Crime scene investigators, divers and law officials search the St. Johns River at the end of Shell Harbour Road during a search for missing child Haleigh Cummings near Satsuma, Fla., Wednesday, April 14, 2010.

snipped:
(Update) Divers were still in the water shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday working in the area around a boat ramp at the end of Shell Harbour Road.

They appeared to be searching within 20 feet on either side of the ramp. They were following up on leads in the case of missing Putnam County girl Haleigh Cummings.

Several other people were nearby along with a good deal of diving equipment, and a truck apparently was on hand to refill diver tanks as needed.

A neighbor described the location as the site of a old restaurant and inn.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE: STATUS OF HALEIGH CASE UNCHANGED, DESPITE SEARCH
(Update) The status of the investigation involving Haleigh Cummings remained unchanged, based on Tuesday's search, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office reported.

Otherwise, the agency reported Sheriff Jeff Hardy and other Sheriff's Office officials would not comment on the search, which continued Wednesday in the St. Johns River.

"Sheriff Hardy would like Haleigh Cummings' family, the citizens of Putnam County and the media to know; if and when any factual information is obtained in this case that will either explain what happened to Haleigh Cummings, or identify who is responsible for her disappearance; he will make a formal release to the public," the Sheriff's Office reported in a statement released Wednesday morning.

FWC BLOCKS ST. JOHNS DURING SEARCH IN HALEIGH CASE

(Update) Lt. George Pottorf, of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said the agency is preventing boaters from approaching the search area on the St. Johns River.

The divers are working mostly along the shore line, he said, in their search following leads in the Haleigh Cummings case.

FWC officers have blocked the river for about a quarter mile on either side of the search, which is near Shell Harbour Road in Putnam County. Pottorf said boaters who live in the area and are returning home will get an FWC escort down the middle of the river. They'll avoid making a wake so as not to disturb the divers.

Pottorf said there is a fairly strong current in the area.

I read somewhere here that the police are looking for two pieces of evidence that will lead to a conviction. Maybe a gun or a knife. Who knows. Usually, a piece of evidence alone is not enough for a conviction unless they have forensics from a crime scene that conclusively says a person was killed.

And by the amount of attention and equipment (not to forget how tight lipped they all are) I think they are looking for more than pieces of evidence.

Without a body a conviction is hard to achieve. Not impossible, but not a sure thing by any means.

In Stepha Henry's case - also in Florida - the police got a conviction based on the amount of blood found in her car. As far as I know - there is no crime scene like that in Haleigh's case.
Actually there have been about 300 convictions on no-body cases and many of those had almost no or no forensic evidence, Nina Reiser (sp) comes to mind. The jury convicted her hubs on purely circumstantial evidence and once he was convicted he told where he put her body to avoid the DP........of course most of these have been adults missing and Tad DiBiase has a forum where he has all the info on all the cases called the No Body Cases .com. One very interesting one was a case that mirrored Drew Peterson in LA County.........it's worth the read if anyone is interested in convictions without the body/and or forensic evidence

also a case where the convicted was executed and the "deceased" showed up years later. Whoops.

Nancy : You know, every morning I wake up and thank my lucky stars that I have those precious babies - let's show some photos of Lucy's first tooth and her in a bubble bath. And every night I kiss them and hug them and love them and ohhh where would I be without my twins. Let's go to a commercial.

Was the yellow rope ever an issue before now?

Thanks

ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL
Mystery Tip Leads to Haleigh?
Aired April 13, 2010 - 19:00:00   ET

LEVI PAGE, CRIME BLOGGER: Yes. And Jane I just got information from Leonard Padilla that this was not -- this information did not come from Misty. This information came from Tommy Croslin, her brother.

Leonard Padilla says that Chelsea Croslin told him yesterday that this spot should be searched. Leonard Padilla also said that there`s a yellow rope that was found at Tommy Croslin`s home. And that`s an interesting fact, that there was a yellow rope that was suspicious early on in this case.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Why was the yellow rope suspicious?

PAGE: I`m not sure. That`s just what Leonard Padilla told me, there was a yellow rope found at Tommy`s home today that matches a rope that was involved in the case early on.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Does anybody know anything about a yellow rope? All right

Investigators interview Croslin's cousin in Tenn.

(Update posted at 2:55 p.m.) A cousin of Misty Croslin, who was supposed to be visiting the Satsuma area at about the same time Haleigh Cummings disappeared, was questioned by investigators in connection with the case in Tennessee Tuesday night.

Joseph Overstreet, 20, is not in custody but was questioned by authorities, the law office of his Nashville attorney Shawn Sirgo reported Wednesday afternoon.

Overstreet came up in the investigation into Haleigh's disappearance because he and the girl's father, Ronald Cumming, are believed to have fought shortly before the girl vanished.

Investigators reportedly had questioned Overstreet earlier in the investigation for the missing girl along with the child's relatives and others who had seen the girl shortly before she vanished.

Croslin was babysitting Haleigh when the girl was last seen at her father's Satsuma home in February 2009.

As Steve Brown, the former FBI agent, investigator working for Crystal said earlier, they may have probable cause for an arrest, but not enough to prove a case in court yet. So, if Joe is the one in question, they may be waiting to get more evidence that will hold up in court to convict him. JMO.

I do not know if this was posted...I am still reading

Update posted at 3:30 p.m.) A private investigator and former FBI agent says he gathered information that led to the current search launched by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office in the case of Haleigh Cummings' disappearance.

"Information I developed led to what they started on Tuesday," said Steve Brown. "As to what they are looking for, you'll need to ask the Putnam County Sheriff's Office."

Brown, who said he had been originally retained by Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, would not answer questions regarding Haleigh or her possible whereabouts or if the search could lead to an arrest connected to the child's disappearance.

Sheffield and her relatives could not be contacted Wednesday afternoon.

The Sheriff's Office has declined to provide information about what led to this week's intensive search about five miles south of the girl's Satsuma home. The agency reported Tuesday it would not release the name of the person who provided the tip leading to the search.

Brown has been working on the case for the past 10 months, he said.

"Every month we got closer," to determining what happened to the girl, he said. "I've been in contact with the Sheriff's Office on multiple occasions over the last three or four months."

Brown also expressed confidence in the Sheriff's Office and complimented their work.

"They've done an excellent job. I have total confidence in what they're doing," he said.

Could they have found a small bone and are staying in that area to try to find more?

That's what I am thinking.

My question is why would a guilty person be allowed by his lawyer to have a question and answer period? Makes no sense.
