Napa State Hospital director arrested on child molestation charges

 NAPA — Long Beach police arrested Napa State Hospital Director Claude Edward Foulk this morning on suspicion of child molestation.

          Foulk, 63, of Napa, was wanted on a $3.5 million warrant issued in Los Angeles County alleging 35 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child, Long Beach police said in a news release.

          Long Beach detectives began an investigation in September into a child molestation case involving five victims known to Foulk, police said.

The alleged crimes occurred in the Long Beach area between 1975 and 2006.

          Police Sgt. Dina Zapalski said the investigation was opened after one of the alleged victims came forward to police. She did not know where Foulk was working between 1975 and 2006 but said the alleged crimes were "not work-related."

          Foulk was arrested on the hospital grounds early this morning and is expected to be transported to Long Beach today for booking, Zapalski said.

          Long Beach police said the investigation is ongoing and that there could be additional victims.
