LE needs to assign a task force to concentrate on girls/young women who have gone missing throughout the area of the map posted on the previous page and get busy weeding through possiblities of a connection to this pig. If he did kill Amber, I doubt she was his 'first kill'. If he didn't kill Amber, then no way was Chelsea his 'first kill'. He has been a predator in the area for too long to just now start killing. I know 'someone' had to be his first, but I think it was many years ago.

POWAY  — More than 5,000 people gathered Saturday at Poway High School to celebrate the life of 17-year-old Chelsea King, in a memorial that alternated between tears over her loss and laughter at the joy she brought.

The memorial drew family, friends, community members and members of the law enforcement and search teams that had combed the region to find the Poway High teen when she disappeared while running in Rancho Bernardo Community Park on Feb. 25.

Several thousand volunteers had helped in the search before her body was found five days later.

Registered sex offender John Albert Gardner III has pleaded not guilty to raping and killing her.

The turnout Saturday and the outpouring of help in the preceding days prompted Chelsea's uncle Chuck McCully to begin his remarks during the memorial by saying, "Wow, you're a community like no other community I've ever known."

An afternoon of fond and funny testimonials about slain Poway teen Chelsea King ended today with her father issuing a sharp call for action against what he called “pure evil.”

It’s incomprehensible that convicted sex offenders are allowed to live among families, Brent King said. And to those who disagree, he said, “Let them live in your neighborhood next to your children. Not ours.”

King urged the thousands gathered at Poway High’s football stadium to embrace one of his daughter’s favorite words — give — and join the mounting effort to change the way society deals with sexual predators.

Give your time, he said – even if it’s just one hour a month.

Give your voice, he said – even if it’s just to e-mail a legislator or cast a ballot.

And, he said, give your energy.

“This is about protecting our children from evil,” he said. “Pure evil.”


He did not name John Albert Gardner III, the convicted sex offender who took a plea bargain and was released in 2005 after five years in prison and who now stands charged with raping and killing Chelsea.

But when he said, “Known sexual predators are not curable,” it was one of the few statements in the service that was met with applause in midspeech.

Several people said after the memorial service they were moved by King’s words. “It’s already happening with petitions that are going around school about predators,” said Austin Farrell, 16, a sophomore at Poway High. “We have to do a better job tracking them.”

Carmen Morales, who attended with her family, including son Rodrigo, 16, also a Poway sophomore, said, “The father is right. We should do more. They should never have let that guy out.”

Rodrigo said he wants to do “whatever I can to help.”

King, the last of more than a dozen speakers on the program, said it would have been easy to wallow in despair after Chelsea went missing during a run on the dirt trails bordering Lake Hodges at Rancho Bernardo Community Park on Feb. 25. Her body was found five days later in a shallow grave at the water’s edge.

Chelsea could have run at a different park, he said. She could have picked a different trail, or a different time. But that wouldn’t have changed what happened, he said – just the victim. And he said he wouldn’t wish the loss and pain he’s feeling on anybody.

Legal experts say other child-protection laws spawned by earlier tragedies – Megan’s Law, Jessica’s Law, Marsi’s Law – have had only limited effect.

Still, King’s call for change joins a rising chorus. Since Chelsea’s death, politicians and the public have been clamoring for tighter restrictions on sex offenders. Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, who represents the district where the Kings live, is working with local law enforcement on an as-yet unspecified “Chelsea’s Law.”

Almost 8,000 people have joined a “Support One Strike Law for Sex Offenders” group on Facebook.

King said it would have been easy to succumb to rage. He admitted he’s mad – hot enough, he said, to survive many days in Hell – but he knows that’s not productive in the long run.

“Because of you,” he said, looking out at the audience, “I chose hope.”

I hope this isn't off topic, but it has been made my heart hurt since I saw the video of Chelsea's brother.

At the end he mentions that Chelsea jokingly said there are jaguars in Seattle and the kill 3 people a year in the rain forest. How said it is that she came back home only to be killed by a JAG in the same manner as a jaguar or cougar stalks prey.

It has haunted me since I watched the video. I don't know if it gave anyone else chills, it did me.

Hash House Harriers Run Carlsbad

The Hash House Harriers of Southern California, a running group whose members reportedly include the mother and stepfather of John Gardner, the man accused of raping and murdering seventeen-year-old Chelsea King, will be holding an event in Carlsbad on Saturday, March 20, 2010.

The run, with the unfortunate title of 16th An@l Humpin Bar2Bar – ‘Sorority Sleepover,’ kicks off in McGee park at “around 11″ according to the group’s website.

This same group held a run in the Rancho Bernardo Community Park on December 27, 2009 three hours after a 22-year-old college student was attacked in the park. It is the same park where Chelsea King was running when she disappeared. John Gardner was charged with “assault with the intent to rape” in that attack according to a story in the San Diego Union-Tribune. The story goes on to say that there is no evidence that Gardner participated in the run.

I am the last person to tell anyone what to do or what not to do. I am also not the morality police. I have never claimed to be. Effectively I don’t care what you do, as long as it does not impact me negatively.

I also believe the majority of hashers I have met feel similarly.

But a well placed piece of advice here and there can potentially go a long way. Are you ready?


Protect yourself. Be mindful of what information you post on your personal and social Web sites. You may be amazed how much information you leak out every time you post to your social networking sites. Given enough time and determination someone with the desire can know an awful lot about you. Information you would never discuss if a stranger approached you on the street you gladly give up to the world online.

And remember, that stuff never goes away. No, it doesn’t. You might think deleting it makes it go away. It doesn’t. Posted your physical address once? It’s still there. Phone number? Yup, that too. Directions to your house or work? Uh-huh.

But what do you care, right? You live a boring existence and no one would ever be interested enough to ever want to harass you.

Not so fast there, Tex. The following is from an e-mail making its way around hash kennels:

“Let me start off with I don’t have all the details, but did want all members of any Hash House Harrier kennel to know what is going on out west and feel free to pass this to other kennels. Also, check your passwords and privacy settings on all your social web pages. Here is why…
“By now you have all seen the news on Chelsea King, the 17 year old girl, that was raped and murdered while running on a trail in the San Diego, CA area. This was not a hash run nor was Chelsea a hasher, but the mother and step-father of the accused are hashers, and therefore, all hashers have been under fire for this.
“Apparently, there is a group of cyber stalkers (not sure what to call them) with good intentions to help track down child molesters, sex offenders and pedophiles. They came across Humpin’ Hash Harriers’ website. Like most kennels HHH post pictures and list their up coming events with sexual innuendos.”
The e-mail continued, “This cyber group then googled the hashers name and found personal information. A few hashers in the SD area are being harassed by this group or by people that follow their forum on-line. This group has contacted their local police and FBI. I am not sure of the outcome of that. The newspapers and news channels are now trying to contact any hasher that will talk to them.”

Bluntly stated these hashers are being harassed because of their association with the hash. Not because they are interesting, rich, poor, high ranking, boring, male, female, black, white, gay or straight, but because they are hashers. And those doing the harassing found them by spending a few minutes on Google.

The bottom line is this: Be mindful of the information you post online. As soon as you hit the submit button everyone can see it.

Hospital staff object to working with mother of alleged sex offender John Gardner

If you're the mother of a convicted sex offender and alleged murderer, should you then expect to have your co-workers take issue with you?

According to a report from 10News (www.10news.com), co-workers at Scripps Mercy Hospital are outraged at the return to work of registered nurse Cathy Osborn. Osborn, supervisor in the behavioral health unit, is the mother of John Albert Gardner III, the convicted sex offender and accused rapist and murderer of Chelsea King.
 

10News reported that staff members at Scripps Mercy Hospital are upset about the fact that Osborn allowed her son to live with her in her Rancho Bernardo home after his release from prison for raping a teenaged neighbor. Authorities allege that Gardner rape and murdered King last month while she was jogging after school. Her body was later discovered in the Lake Hodges area.

In an email to 10News, one co-worker stated:

“Cannot tell you who I am for fear of being harassed, but his mother Cathy Osborn is going back to work at Scripps Mercy Hospital in behavioral health. She let her son live with her and had a key to her house and now is in a position of authority on a psychiatric unit where other sex offenders or psychiatric patients are placed based on her position … She knew he was a danger and never reported him. Her judgment could let other people out of a psychiatric facility that should not be. Staff do not respect her anymore and have to listen to her because she is in a position of authority. This is not right … Staff do not want to work with her and she is coming back to work.”

10News also reported on some rather bizarre and risque photos of Osborn that have come to light.

The pictures are of Osborn and a group calling themselves the Hash House Harriers running the hills around Lake Hodges and other trails.

This was information and images that have been circulating on Scared Monkeys.net for some time in an attempt to draw comparisons, similarities and connections between the murders of King and Amber Dubois. Gardner is a person of interest in the murder of Dubois, whose remains were found last week on grounds of the Pala Indian Reservation.

Many people will ask just how does a behavioral nurse whose job it is to deal with disturbed people not have seen the signs with her son? Another question is why is she posing for some rather risky pictures given the sexual messages they are sending, especially regarding how women may be viewed?

Cathy Osborn certainly does have a right to work, but more importantly, the parents of Chelsea King and Amber Dubois deserve far more for the grief they are dealing with.

Answers to if John Gardner murdered both their daughters would be a good start.

This list is derived from the Megan's Law website and includes the offender's name, address, physical appearance (such as weight, hair color, eye color, et cetera), as well as their convictions.
