I can't seem to find how many years he actually served of his 6 year sentence in the prior conviction... certainly not all 6 

SIX YEARS for his punishment makes me sick too! When will our injustice system 'get it'???

I read somewhere, I think within last 6 pages here, that he served 5 years of a 6 yr sentence.

It was five out of the six, it was either in a video or article, and that he also attacked a friend of the 13 year old girl.

Apparently his vehicle or what was found inside of it was evidence when they found him.

Oh...do you happen to know what kind of vehicle it was?

A lot doesn't make it to the news. If it did, maybe people would be more cautious.

In my humble opinion, the best thing that can be accomplished on the border states and California and Arizona in particular - is lock the borders, and begin executing those on death row.

Those new death sentences - process their appeal in a competent fashion and none of this 20-30 years (or dying of old age) on death row. Prisons are over-crowed by repeat offenders and certainly not building enough prisons. Personally I could careless if they are overcrowded, except it puts guards in danger.

When people respect the law - the crime rate goes down, and if it doesn't, alot of trash is cleaned up and is unable to cause further harm.

The crimes occurred about a month before his 21st birthday.
He was charged with three counts of forcible lewd act upon a child and one count of false Imprisonment by violence, menace, fraud or deceit. On May 31, two months later, he pleaded guilty to two counts of forcible lewd act and the single count of false imprisonment.
Gardner faced a maximum prison sentence of 10 years and 8 months. On September 13, 2000 he was sentenced to six years in state prison, and ordered to pay a $1200 fine.
In the sentencing summary, prosecutors considered Gardner’s actions “extremely predatory, and this makes him very dangerous despite his minor prior record. When combined with his callous attitude and refusal to admit any wrongdoing, defendant demonstrates that he is an extreme danger to others and needs to be imprisoned to protect society.”
The court records indicate that the district attorney did not seek the maximum sentence only because Gardner had no significant record of prior criminal conduct.

Parents of missing Calif. teen plead for help

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The parents of a 17-year-old girl who failed to come home after a run in the park are pleading for people to come forward with information.

John Gardner III, a registered sex offender, has been booked for investigation of murder and remains in custody without bail after his arrest Sunday in San Diego.

Authorities are still searching for Chelsea King, and prosecutors say they will decide by Wednesday whether to charge Gardner.

Brent King of the San Diego suburb of Poway tells The Associated Press that he last saw his daughter Wednesday night after she played French horn in a school concert. He found her 1994 BMW parked at a San Diego park late Thursday.

The parents say Chelsea is a straight-A student who ran cross-county and is active her school's peer counseling program.

Or people assume when a teen goes missing she/he is just another runaway. It has become the easy (and I fear cost effective) way to deal with this problem. I wonder how many "runaways" are not, that they were kidnapped and killed?
What an easy age group to target. IF they go with the man willingly they are simply assumed to be "bad" kids. If they are missing, they are assumed to have ran away in a teenaged tantrum. Every once in awhile it is taken seriously and as in this case if I am correct a man who has been targeting this age group for a number of years was finally stopped, but after how many victims? This is sickening.

IntegraScan.com has valuable information regarding the actual address of John Albert Gardner III, the suspect arrested for the disappearance of Chelsea King in San Diego County,California.

However, the address the IntegraScan database has Gardner living at is in Escondido, California, a mere eight miles from the Rancho Bernardo Community Park where Chelsea King was jogging and disappeared.

When Integra Scan called the San Diego County Sheriff's Department to report Gardner's real address, they were denied the opportunity to speak with a detective by the operator. After questioning the operator about whether or not they were still searching for Chelsea King, the operator confirmed that they were, but that it was not possible to speak to a detective regarding the case. This press release is a plea to the Sheriff to please contact us. We will gladly provide you with the information we have.

In addition, Integra Scan has a full address history on Gardner dating back to 2000, as well as four photos, while the Office of the Attorney General only has one photo and the incorrect address for Gardner. The address history that Integra Scan has also shows that Gardner actually lived in Rancho Bernardo in 2000, which suggests that he is very familiar with the Rancho Bernardo Community Park and area.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department has stated that they have valuable evidence linking Gardner to the case, but we feel they are looking in the wrong location for Chelsea King. It is highly likely that additional evidence, and perhaps Chelsea King, could be located at this current address.
