firetrucks & ambulances are rolling towards the park direction, just saw this on WS, is anyone listening to the scanner?

Yes, I am, but I am back and forth between another room and this one, so I was not listening closely.

In my humble opinion, the best thing that can be accomplished on the border states and California and Arizona in particular - is lock the borders, and begin executing those on death row.

Those new death sentences - process their appeal in a competent fashion and none of this 20-30 years (or dying of old age) on death row. Prisons are over-crowed by repeat offenders and certainly not building enough prisons. Personally I could careless if they are overcrowded, except it puts guards in danger.

When people respect the law - the crime rate goes down, and if it doesn't, alot of trash is cleaned up and is unable to cause further harm.

Closing the borders and executions would be ideal, but there is not a chance in h3ll it will ever happen.

So often you hear the officers say..."I am heading over to RB now to help search for the missing girl..." It is really amazing the outporing of help from the communities.

Oh gosh I have to go now! Prayers they have found something.

What I just thought of since the size of this man was mentioned..I wonder where he worked out in escondido, there is a gym by the high school, I think it is a 24 hour fitness. It is on the other side of the high school and field. Don't know if that matters but thought I would mention it.

Give me 20 minutes and I'll upload some new pictures and what I saw driving around.

I do think something's up as far as now there is heavy, heavy activity on the north side of the lake (streets are closed that access the Hernandez Hideaway restaurant area) - the helicopter is low overhead in that area.

But there were also a lot of people at the Smokesignal/Alborada lookout area on the south side looking down by the Bernardo Bay area by the waterfalls (the area where I circled it I think in green in my most recent mpa here) apparently watching again.

The helicopter seemed to be circling between the area of the arrest and the area on the south side I'm referring to. I'll map it and put up photos shortly, including of an access point or two.   (from local at ws)

DNA can be done very quickly - don't let 'em fool you with all this backlog non-sense. And when someone is missing and feared murdered and raped - they do expedite those samples to the front of the line. It's logical and makes sense, and in this case Gardner is not going on a crime spree while samples are processed. This is a good move - however it's after the fact and someone committing crimes on 13 year olds should not have been in any position to commit any future crimes.

The underwear being recovered was the item that allowed a sample along with the sexual predator data-base cross-reference. Gardner was in that data-base.

As for Megan's Law and Jessica's law and any other laws - predators do not respect laws. I won't out and out call it all a failure, but there's nothing that can really be done other than locking them up and throwing away the key. Most here already know that. The recidivism rate is over 80%. That's too high to try and figure out who may offend and who may not. The odds just aren't there for any consideration for these predators.

The two choices are - execution on first offense or life in prison (with no possibility of parole) if a crime has been committed on a young person under the age of 14. Hopefully the age of idiocy will be coming to an end after the next election cycle and we will finally have representatives that take crimes against our children seriously.

Any way - prayers for Chelsea and her family and all who knew and loved her. She sounded like a lovely and wonderful young lady that had so much to give.

It sure is good to read this and think.....Rob is back!

Sheriff William Gore, appearing with the girl's parents on ABC's "Good Morning America," said Gardner was arrested after investigators discovered a piece of physical evidence linking him to the case. He did not elaborate.

Gardner, who gave his residence as Lake Elsinore, about 75 miles north of the park, was arrested at a restaurant in Escondido.

His interrogation had not been productive, Gore said.

"We questioned Mr. Gardner into the evening and so far we still don't know where Chelsea is," Gore said. "We're confident that we have the right man in custody. Now we've just got to find Chelsea."

TracyGirl post from Amber's thread..

Court records show that a psychiatrist who interviewed Gardner said he showed no remorse for his actions. “There is no known treatment for an individual that sexually assaults girls and does not admit to it in any way,” said Dr. Matthew Carroll. “The fact that the defendant takes no responsibility whatsoever for his actions makes him an extremely poor candidate for any sexual offender treatment.”

NOT a good sign.

Why on earth did they not listen to the psychiatrist???? from the sounds of it he is saying he needed to be kept off the streets.
Has anyone found out anything about where he worked?

So there is no cure for him and they know it...so what do they do....let him loose a year early....to go out and not only abuse and rape, but now murder. He needed to be locked up someplace..............we have places for people who are mentally ill, people who cannot function in a 'normal' environment....why not have a place for those who can not be rehabilitated and will go out and commit more crimes?  What in the hell do we have to do to protect ourselves and our children?  I am fearful that we are going to reverse to vigilante justice again...and that might NOT be a bad thing.  We have gotten too damn civilized!!  JMO

I have been looking and can't find any info on if he works and if so where.
