Body Found During Search for Chelsea King
Poway teen missing since last week

A body was discovered Tuesday during the search for a missing Poway teenager, according to several law enforcement sources.

Chelsea King, 17, has been the subject of an extensive search effort near Lake Hodges since last week. John Albert Gardner III  was  arrested Monday in connection to the case of the missing Poway High School student.

The body was found near the southen shore of Lake Hodges. Officials have cordoned off a large area with police tape and have made a series of trips to the shore from a boat moored nearby. The sheriff's department said at 3:15 p.m. that they had rescheduled an earlier news conference for 3:45 p.m., which NBCSandiego.com will livestream. No other details are available yet.

Chelsea was last seen Thursday, Feb. 25. before heading out to run after school. Her car was found at the Rancho Bernardo Glassman Community Park. Her cell phone, iPod and school clothes were found inside the car.

Prayers for Chelsea's family and all who love her.  Prayers also going out for all the rescuers.  Please use this as a catalyst to keep our children and women safe from these predators, also to keep our men safe, who are not immune from sex offenders either. 

Rest with the angels, sweet Chelsea.  You said you wanted to help people and change the world, let's hope your death will do that and you will not just be known as another victim, but as the one who changed the laws to help others remain safe.
