Marie Osmond's teenage son committed suicide last night, this according to Entertainment Tonight.

Michael Blosil, one of Osmond's eight children, reportedly jumped from his downtown Los Angeles apartment building.

ET says Michael left behind a note that said he intended to commit suicide due to a life-long battle with depression.

Donny Osmond released a statement that says: "Please pray for my sister and her family."

Entertainment Tonight reports teen battled severe depression

Marie Osmond's teenaged son, Michael Blosil, has killed himself by leaping to his death around 9 p.m. Friday in Los Angeles, reports Entertainment Tonight, which quotes Marie's brother, Donny Osmond, as saying, "Please pray for my sister and her family."

According to ET, Michael left a note explaining he intended to end his life after a lengthy battle with severe depression that left him, he said, feeling as if he had no friends and could never fit in.

In 2007, Michael, then 16, entered a rehab facility. His mother said at the time, “My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldn’t be more proud of him.”

The reason for the visit to rehab was never disclosed. Michael is one of eight children Osmond has raised with ex-husband Brian Blosil.

By March 2009, Marie told PEOPLE that Michael seemed to be turning his life around. He was finishing up his last year of high school while living with his mom in Las Vegas, where she and Donny headline a show.

"I couldn't be more proud of him," Marie said at the time. "He's got a 3.9 GPA in high school. He's looking at scholarships to some wonderful colleges."

A rep for Donny and Marie Osmond confirmed to PEOPLE that the show at the Flamingo Hotel was canceled Saturday night. It is being determined how long the hiatus will remain in effect.

Marie Osmond, one of nine Utah-bred Osmond siblings, began performing with her brothers at age 3. She has been outspoken about the trials of her own life in the spotlight.

In November 2007, Michael, then 16, entered rehab, though what he was being treated for was not disclosed.

Osmond and Michael's father, Brian Blosil, announced in March 2007 that they were divorcing after nearly 21 years of marriage. Osmond and Blosil had two biological children together and adopted five others, including Michael. Brian Blosil also adopted Osmond's child from her first marriage.

Michael Blosil was a student at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), he must have been talented. He just didn't feel he had a purpose, bless his soul.

Michael Blosil, 18, left a suicide note for his family saying he had decided to end his life because of the ‘torment’ of his long battle against depression and drug and alcohol abuse.

The note was also reported to contain the words: ‘I feel like I have no friends and will never fit in.’

A police source said Blosil, who had been adopted as a baby by Osmond and her ex-husband Brian, jumped off the roof of the ten-storey apartment block in central LA where he rented a £1,500-a-month flat.

The mother-of-eight, 50, released a statement confirming her loss and appealed for privacy.
In a statement, Marie said: 'My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time.'

The suicide note was believed to have said Michael intended to lose his life after a long battle with depression, feeling like he had no friends and did not fit in.

Marie has cancelled tonight's performance at the Flamingo Hotel in New York, where she has a residence with brother Donny.
A hotel representative said it was currently unknown how long Marie's hiatus from the show would last.

Her brother Donny told ET: 'Please pray for my sister and her family.'

Marie's nephew David Osmond - son of the eldest Osmonds bandmember Alan - wrote on his Twitter page: 'My heart bleeds for my Aunt today. Life is precious. Love is all.'

An eyewitness who drove past the scene as paramedics arrived described events to U.S. website RadarOnline.

'I saw four firemen standing here and they had a sheet held up,' said Makenzie Arnone.
'There was caution tape all along the building here.'
A source also told the website how the emergency call reporting Michael's suicide came at 9.26pm on Friday.
'It was categorised as an "extreme fall",' the source said.

'Four units from the fire department were dispatched including a battalion chief, supervising paramedic unit, a fire truck and a paramedic unit. 

'Once they arrived, they worked in coordination with the LAPD and the coroner's field investigator.'
In November 2007, when he just 16, Michael entered a rehab facility.

At the time, Marie said: 'My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldn’t be more proud of him.'
In an interview with American magazine People in 2007, Marie's long-time friend Lisa Hatch described Michael as a 'very quiet kid' who played the drums on his mother's Christmas 2006 tour.

It was thought he was overcoming his troubles after he successfully graduated from high school last year in Las Vegas.

A source close to Marie, 50, who has enjoyed a resurgence in her career thanks to an appearance on the US show Dancing With The Stars, said: ‘She is in pieces. She is as devastated as you can imagine.

'She did everything she could to help Michael but sometimes everything is not enough.’

It is tough being eightheen yrs. old.  Michael excelled in High School and now (less than a year) he is dead. I wonder if Marie questions if it was the right decision to allow him to travel (so far from home) with so many menacing problems. He must have been a sweet soul. She tried hard and succeeded to a point...he just had too much pain in his life:(  Prayers to you Michael!

I wonder who's idea it was for him to attend this school? (The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising).  This field may have not been his strength. He really didn't wish to go quietly, he must have been very unsettled, living where he was and alienated from his family in LA, poor guy.

There are always unanswered questions when someone takes their own life—and Marie Osmond's son left one more than usual.

Just days before his suicide over the weekend, 18-year-old Michael Blosil legally changed his last name to Bryan. The reason behind the name change, like so many other aspects of the tragedy, is unclear.

Meanwhile, Marie's publicist Alan Nierob confirms to E! News that the family, including Marie's ex-husband and Michael's dad, Brian Blosil, is planning to hold a private funeral in their home state of Utah on Monday.

The family has been hunkered down together since the news. Earlier this week, they all gathered together in Provo to support nephew David in concert.

No other details have been disclosed about the event, which will be open only to family and close friends. A source tells E! News that a separate viewing will take place Sunday.

Just days ago, Marie Osmond’s lawyers sealed documents revealing details of Michael Blosil’s name change to Michael Bryan, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

Friend Speaks Out About Marie Osmond Son’s Suicide Note

Michael, who was one of Marie’s middle children, committed suicide on Friday, February 26th by leaping from the 8th floor of his apartment building, three days later his “name change” documents were sealed in Provo, Utah.  That’s the same day that the media was notified that Michael had legally changed his last name from Blosil to Bryan-- his middle name.


Judge Samuel McVey granted the request, which primarily keeps the documents from being public.


Here’s what we have unearthed. The petition was filed in August. It takes anywhere from one to two months for approval. In Utah, a hearing must take place before the change is granted. If Michael wanted to legally change his name without his parents’ approval, he had to wait until he turned 18.

A private memorial service for Michael will take place in Utah on Monday. Marie will return to the Las Vegas stage with her famous brother Donny the following day.
