David Cameron’s ‘new’ Conservatives are deeply sceptical about global warming – and still adore Margaret Thatcher, according to a poll today.

Despite the party leader’s much-vaunted commitment to the environment, just 28 per cent of Tory candidates in winnable seats believe new laws are needed to tackle climate change.

The fascinating study conducted by ComRes on behalf of the New Statesman magazine also reveals that prospective MPs are deeply Eurosceptic, support tax cuts and want to see a strict cap on immigration.

A number of other unlikely figures were named as heroes by Tory candidates, including left-wing Labour veteran Tony Benn, former US president George W Bush and suffragette Emily Pankhurst.

Climate change report sets out an apocalyptic vision of Britain

Ben Webster, Environment Editor

Quote
Mass migration northwards to new towns in Scotland, Wales and northeast England may be needed to cope with climate change and water shortages in the South East, according to an apocalyptic vision set out by the Government Office for Science.

Heathrow would be converted into a giant reservoir by 2035, there could be severe restrictions on flying and driving and farmers would be forced to sell their land to giant agricultural businesses. Greenhouse gas emissions would be controlled by carbon rationing for individuals, which would lead to “significant shifts in lifestyle as everyone tries to stay within budget”.

The Government would ease pressure on the South East by planning to “disperse citizens to three new towns in Dumfries and Galloway, Northumberland and Powys”.

Quote
The Government responds by taking control of vast tracts of land and using it to grow wood and crops for biomass power stations. An agricultural productivity Bill requires farmers to increase yields per hectare but most have to sell up because they lack the resources to comply. “The average farm size in the UK increases from 57 hectares to 500 hectares; farms in the East and South East of England increase to 5,000 hectares.”

Sometime in the l9th century there was a report stating that if things carried on as they were, the entire country would be covered to a depth of six inches with horse manure.

The horse manure problem was solved by the arrival of the internal combusion machine.

However, we now have a different problem with horse manure which emanates from the chief scientist Sir John Beddington with reports such as this one. Where is the machine that will rid us of this new and expensive 21st century horse manure?

Interesting how old fashioned Global Warming seems, suddenly. Can it be this arctic winter?
I wonder who's tidying up the plan for the US?  Nancy?  Barney?  Joe?

UKIP would ban Al Gore film in schools

Al Gore's global warming film would be banned in schools under plans by the UK Independence Party (UKIP) to court the climate sceptic vote.

Quote
A recent poll found the just one in five people believe climate change is man-made, compared to one in three a year ago.

The survey of 1,000 people found people over 65 were more likely to be sceptical.

If a school were to use a textbook with as many critical errors and exaggerations as Al Gore's film, would anyone object to its removal or replacement with a truthful text?

The real question though, is why was this particular film selected and foisted on the schools in the first place? The people who suggested/ordered it should be identified and UKIP should challenge them to a debate.

Al Gore's presentation is not Education, it's Indoctrination. This is promoting propoganda to the benefit of the government, and himself of course. This fraudster is making millions out of this scam and his connections with the Carbon Trading company Camco which he has connections with. It's refreshing to listen to Lord Monckton talking in a reasonable manner instead of all the tripe we are delivered on Global Warming. It says a lot that the UN's lead Man is a Railway Engineer, and used to work with Tata Steel in India. This is the company that has bought and closed our last steel plant in the UK, and deals in Carbon Credits. Where there's a smell, follow it and it will take you to the brown stuff! UKIP may be the only hope for Britain and save us from the EU.
