Cross Honors Woman Murdered in 1986

NED HIBBERD
Reporter

HOUSTON - A simple wooden cross has been planted in a field where a young woman's body was dumped almost 24 years ago.

After all this time, that victim now has a name. It is emblazoned on the plaque attached to the cross: Angela Phillips.

The 20-year old woman disappeared in 1986. Her family spent years searching, sick with worry. One of her brothers never stopped searching.

His name is Darryl Phillips and he was the very first member of Texas EquuSearch.

Over the past decade, Phillips has helped other families locate their loved ones, living or dead.

"I never thought in all my life that I would be in this position," says Phillips. "I always thought that this happened to other family members."

Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller says Phillips always had his sister in the back of his mind during the dozens of searches they worked together.

"He was out there giving it his all," says Miller. "But he was always afraid that he was going to stumble across his sister's remains."

But all those years, Angela Phillips was buried in the Harris County Cemetery for the unwanted and unidentified.

The Phillips family only learned in March that the woman whose body was found in the southeast Houston field was, in fact, Angela Phillips.

So Darryl Phillips' search had finally ended.

"I would tell any family that has a loved one missing, never give up hope," says Phillips.

Angela Phillips' death is classified as a homicide and Houston police have launched an investigation.

Her body will be buried again, this time near her mother, who died before learning the truth.

Phillips' funeral is scheduled for Saturday.

I stand with the girl, Natalee Holloway.

"I can look back over the past 10 years and there were no steps wasted, and there are no regrets,'' she said. "I did all I knew to do and I think that gives me greater peace now." "I've lived every parent's worst nightmare and I'm the parent that nobody wants to be," she said.

I really wonder if Dave Holloway is aware that Julia Renfro is drinking buddies with his Aruban attorney (Vinda de Sousa)?  It's unfortunate that Natalee's family (specifically Dave & Robin) have continued to be deceived by these people.

.... As far as Julia, we have stayed in contact with her and she truly does care for Natalee and wants to know what happened to her as much as anyone else. Dave was able to meet with Mark for a little while last night while he was there and had a nice visit. It is good to know they are still there and willing to help. Please know they are still there too for Natalee ....

We're fortunate that one of the men from home here to help us is an attorney, so he personnally interviews several Aruban lawyers and decides Vinda de Sousa will be as good as any.  Her retainer is $5,000 up front.

Page 179:  During this time we add a new attorney, Helen Lejuez, who tells us she is confident that we can access official documents for us.  Her retainer is also $5,000 up front.  We give her copies of all the materials we've collected.  She gets started.  And Vinda, the first attorney, quits, refusing to work on a team with Helen.  Vinda sends another bill, for $15,000, but we are not able to obtain an itemized invoice for this.

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, HOST: ... But in terms of what you have uncovered with this witness, has this witness of yours spoken to Hans Mos, the prosecutor?

DAVE HOLLOWAY, FATHER OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY: He has. He spoke with him probably about four months ago in the presence of Vinda de Sousa ...

THE THREAT

Something akin to all the witnesses from the getgo in the Natalee Holloway case ... could it be that those who were on board the Persistence ... those who observed all that took place encompassing the trap/cage ... have been silenced either through intimidation or compensation?  In other words ... the Aruba cover up agenda that has prevented justice from prevailing since May 30, 2005 ... continues to be furthered.

Page 197:  There is apparently no amount of money in the world that can get us the answer to what happened to Natalee.  When I asked an Aruban attorney about this, his response was chilling:  "The threat is bigger than the money," he says.  The Threat.  That dark influence.  The evil that nothing and no one can pierce.

Corruption in Paradise - Dave Holloway

Page 117
:  I also find it hard to believe that with all of the press that Natalee's disapppearance has attracted, there is not one person anywhere who knows what happened to her.  I can only surmise that those who do know something are too afraid to come forward.  Maybe there would be a price to pay if they tell, a price so high and so threatening that not even the $1,000,000 reward money is enough of an enticement for someone to bring us the truth.

Texasmom thank you for the article on Darryl Phillips and the finding of his sister Angela after 20 long years!  Buried as an unknown person, finally  Angela will rest with her Mother.  How sad her Mom died, not knowing her fate.  Darryl never gave up!
Thank you Darryl for the volunteer work you have done with Texas Equasearch these past 20 years.

Jen was last active yesterday AM....while I move from thread to thread, I've noticed that she reads in the other MP threads.....the same with Magnolia.   I think Jen is fine...just probably busy with life as it does interfere with forum time.

Wow!  I second can's thank you TxMom.  What a heart wrenching life Angela's family has had all these long years.

I guess if there is one thing good that has come from Natalee's tragedy in Aruba - it's that it brought together Angela's brother and HPD who were finally able to bring Angela's disappearance to a close.
