Dutch citizen main suspect of murder in Peru

Dutch national Joran van der Sloot, 22 years old, is at present the main suspect of the murder of Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, aged 21, found dead in a Lima hotel today, five days after she disappeared.

According to Peruvian police reports, Stephany Flores was last seen with van der Sloot, who has already left Peru and is currently in Chile.

Interpol Peru confirmed that the Dutch citizen is is Chile and that there is not any international arrest warrant issued against him yet.

The Chief of the Crime Investigation Directorate, César Guardia, told the press today that they will appeal to international treaties to locate and arrest Joran van der Sloot and bringing him to Peru.

Five years ago van der Sloot was investigated in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, an 18-year-old American student who went missing in Aruba.

American Woman Faces Bleak Life in Peru's Frigid Mountain Prison

LIMA, Peru (AP) - In the prison where a New York woman is sentenced to spend the rest of her life, many of the windows have no glass to stop the frigid mountain winds.

The beds are concrete and the cells have no lights. Prisoners wash their own clothes, and the water is so cold it turns their fingers purple.

"When you are in there, the attacks of depression are strong," he said. "Not only are people depressed, they're desperate."

Prisoners spend 23 1/2 hours a day in cells 6 1/2 feet by 10 feet. They have a toilet, a faucet with ice-cold running water and a concrete bench for a bed. The only electric light comes from the passageway. Most cells house two inmates.

"The cold is terrible. You are always exposed to the cold. The installation has no heating. Many times there is no glass in the windows, just bars," Ruiz Conejo said.

Among his worst memories was hand-washing his clothing in the freezing water.

      The National Peruvian Police, is looking Mr. Van der Sloot. as a person of interest for the murdered of Stephany Florez Ramirez, 21 years old.

      Stephany dissapared last friday, and her body was found today June 02, 2010 in the morning. Stephany was seen last friday with Van Der Sloot, in the district of San Isidro, LIma.

     Mr. Van Der Sloot is on the run and witness has seen him on Santiago(Chile) and Argentina.

Horrific Conditions in Peruvian Prison

There is a prison in Peru in the high desert called Larri Ganchos. Built to accommodate 3,000 men, it now houses over 10,000. There are only a few guards; there is not enough money to hire more. They are placed in various strategic and generally safe areas outside the main prison. The actual security within is maintained by prisoners sanctioned by the administration called the Council of Inmate Leaders; yet each dorm or block or pavilion is like a pirate ship, and there are regular raids into each other's territory. There are regular attacks, some rapes and beatings.

The water is turned on briefly twice a day. Inmates come with buckets, but usually there is not enough water to go around. Some inmates become outcastes due to minor offenses such as petty theft or suspicion of gang disloyalty. They are denied access to proper indoor housing and wander a vast outdoor desert wasteland within prison confines and try to somehow live. They scavenge through an open garbage pit for discarded food. Wild dogs roam here and there. It is hard to properly describe the conditions throughout Larri Ganchos. There is a constant and vicious struggle to exist: for power, for drugs.

LIMA, Peru -- A young Dutchman previously arrested in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway is the prime suspect in a weekend murder of a Peruvian woman, police said Wednesday.

Criminal police chief Gen. Cesar Guardia told a news conference that Joran van der Sloot was being sought in the Sunday killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in a Lima hotel. Guardia said the suspect fled the country the next day by land to Chile.

The Dutch government said Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant for him.

Guardia said van der Sloot, 22, who was in the country for a poker tournament, appears with the young woman in a video taken at a Lima casino early Sunday.

The victim's father, Ricardo Flores, told reporters she was killed about 8 a.m. that morning in a hotel room that was splattered with blood, indicating a struggle.

The killing occurred exactly five years after the May 30, 2005, disappearance in Aruba of Holloway.

Van der Sloot left Peru on Monday, Guardia said, according to immigration registry. He had been staying at the hotel since May 14 and checked out on Sunday four hours after he arrived there with the victim, the police general added.

"We have an interview with a worker at the hotel who says she saw this foreigner with the victim enter his room," said Guardia.

Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant for van der Sloot, Dutch Foreign Ministry spokesman Bengt van Loosdrecht told The Associated Press in The Netherlands.

He cited as his sources Peruvian police and the Dutch Embassy in Lima. The embassy's head of consular affairs, Angela Lowe, told the AP she could not comment on the case.

Van der Sloot was twice arrested but later released for lack of evidence in the disappearance of Holloway, who was on a high school graduation trip to the Caribbean island. No trace of her has been found.

The mystery of Holloway's disappearance has and garnered wide attention on television and in tabloid newspapers in Europe and the United States.

A spokeswoman for Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty of Mountain Brook, Alabama, told the AP the family was aware of the development in Peru but would have no comment.

According to a person I talk with in Paraguay who works for the American emabassy they already are talking with him in Chile...

So that is why I say ..They have him.

I am thinkin he pissed off somebody in the gambling world and they set him up for the fall..

I can see no reason why he would kill the girl so far but I will keep snooping around.
