UPDATE 23: The two men that were released yesterday, Abraham Jones(28) and Mickey John (30), may demand an apology from the Aruban government and the justice department. They feel that they have been discriminated against. The way the two men were arrested was definitely different. The 3 young suspects were arrested quietly and were photographed and filmed by the press with their faces covered. In the case of the two black men Jones and John, policemen with guns stormed into their homes and as they were escorted out to the police car, they walked out with their faces exposed. The media immediately published close-ups of these men and blemished their reputation. Jones and John hope that they will be able to continue with their lives, but they may sue the Aruban government and the justice department for the way they were treated. The justice department has denied that race and/or skin color of the two men played any role in the way the investigation was conducted.

UPDATE 22: The 2 suspects that were initially arrested, Abraham Jones(28) and Mickey John (30) are no longer is custody. The 2 men were released Monday night. The attorneys demanded the release of these alleged suspects on Monday. Apparently there wasn’t any (substantial) evidence of their implaction in the case to keep them in custody. Jones’ attorney, Chris Lejuez, stated yesterday that his client had not been interrogated since Wednesday last week and today is client is relased.

UPDATE 21:The attorney of the suspect Abraham Jones, Chris Lejuez, spoke in a live broadcast Monday afternoon and he confirmed personally what his client told him recently. This interview was conducted in Papiamentu and Hasibokos.com has compiled a summary of Lejuez' statements: Lejuez stated that his client did not know Joran van der Sloot before he saw him in his neighbouring cel. As Jones saw Joran crying in his cel, he did not know the reason why he was behind bars. Lejuez explained that he has no reason to doubt the story that his client told him. This is mainly because since his arrest, Jones has been secluded and Lejuez is conviced that Jones did not know about Joran until recently. Lejuez went on to say that Joran van der Sloot told his client that he did not go to the lighthouse with the Kalpoe brothers. Joran told Abraham Jones that after he left Carlos ‘N Charlies, he caught a ride home with the Kalpoe brothers and Natalee Holloway who was also in the car. Joran insists that the Kalpoes dropped him off at his home and drove off with Natalee in the car. It was only afterwards (a few days later), around the swimming pool at his house, that the Kalpoes made plans to come out with one version of the events. It has not been confirmed weather Joran has a swimming pool at his house. This could prove to be a crucial fact, because if Jones has never met Joran before he couldn’t have possibly known that Joran has a swimming pool at his home unless Joran had actually told him that. What makes the recent story of Joran van der Sloot interesting is that fact that he is saying now that he was dropped off at home and did not see Natalee after that. But he still collaborated with the Kalpoes afterwards as they allegedly conferred at his house around the pool.

UPDATE 20: TOP95 FM (Aruban radio station) reported on Monday that they have received information about the story that the suspect Joran van der Sloot gave to the police. The radio station got this information from the attorney that is representing the suspect Abraham Jones. Jones is being held at the same location as Joran and he has been hearing/getting information from within the institute. According to the attorney ,Jones declared that Joran is convinced that he is being framed. Joran is saying that he did not go to the lighthouse with the group at all. He testified that after he left the club, he caught a ride home with his Surinamese friends, the brothers Kalpoe. At that time Natalee Holloway was in the car. Joran allegedly testified that the Kalpoes dropped him off at his home and drove off with Natalee in car. It was only afterwards (a few days later), around the swimming pool at his house, that the Kalpoes made plans to come out with one version of the events. But now it seems that they are trying to frame Joran. The attorney also told the radio station that his client has been hearing Joran van der Sloot sobbing a lot lately.

As HBK.com informed before, sources that have seen excerpts of the declarations of the Surinamese brothers, affirmed that the Surinamese brothers testified that Joran and Natalee kissed on the back seat of the car and they also talked about some sexual activity that had taken between Natalee and Joran. We can conclude that the versions that these young suspects are giving are contradictory.

UPDATE 19: On Monday the local papers of Aruba are reporting mostly the recent developments in this case. According to AweMeinta the fluid, that at first was believed to be blood, turned out to be something else. The biggest newspaper in Papiamentu, EXTRA, is reporting that the attorneys of the 2 men who were initially arrested (since 5th of June), said that no incriminating evidence has been found to keep their clients in custody. The 2 men have yet to be charged formally and as a result the attorneys will demand the release of these alleged suspects on Monday. Noraina Pietersz , the attorney of the thirty-year-old suspect Antonius “Mickey” John stated: “This has become a game, an illogical investigation. John and Abraham Jones (28) have been denying having any connection with/to Natalee Holloway. The prosecution is saying that they have some evidence that, as of yet, has not been provided to us ”. With regard to the 3 young suspects, EXTRA reports that they are still denying that they had anything to do with the disappearance of Natalee. They stand by their initial statement that they dropped Natalee off at the hotel around 2 o’clock and that before they drove off, they saw her in company of a man wearing a security guard’s uniform.

EXTRA is also reporting that most of the tourists and resident of Aruba are saying that even though they have been positive and praying this whole time, as time passes by the hopes of finding Natalee Holloway alive are dwindling.

UPDATE 18: The Dutch media is reporting on Monday that The Netherlands has sent some experts to the island of Aruba to assist in the ongoing search (investigation). The Dutch experts arrived at Aruba on Sunday. The local chief of the search team of police in The Netherlands, Jan van der Straten, confirmed this report on Sunday. Mr. Van der Straten did not go into details about the type of experts that were sent. He only informed that the experts that were sent did not go with search dogs and that they were going to carry out specific detailed operations. Van der Straten told the press that he was not going to disclose specified information, because this would obviously lead to (justified) assumptions of the direction the investigation is heading in. He said: “I cannot say more, otherwise it will be clear in which direction the investigation is going”.

UPDATE 17: Hasibokos.com speech translation of the prime minister of Aruba:
The prime minister of Aruba , Nelson Oduber, addressed the Arubans today (Sunday, 12th) in Papiamento. He began with a brief summary of the events up until now regarding the Holloway case. Mr. Oduber then went on to ensure everyone that the government and all public institutes will continue to do their utmost to solve the case of the missing U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway. The prime minister continued his speech with some statistics with regard to the tourism activities on the island, underlining the fact that Aruba has the characteristics of being a nice place to spend a vacation. He explained how Aruba is known worldwide as a friendly and safe island and affirmed that the recent developments are isolated cases that are not common at all on the island. This is why, according to Mr. Oduber, every case such as this is one too many. He expressed his admiration for the way the multiple organizations in general and the Arubans in particular have come together. The prime minister also praised the judicial system of Aruba and assured that no one stands above the law. He also ensured that no one will get special treatment. Mr. Oduber also thanked the (international) media for the coverage until now.

Finally he addressed the Holloway family and assured them that no resource will be spared to solve the case.

UPDATE 16: According to local Aruban media, the results of the blood test on the blood found in the car are in, and it appears that that the blood is not of the missing teenager Natalee Holloway. Also the suspect (presumably Joran van der SlooT) that gave the statement that ‘something bad’ had happened, presumably was referring to possible use of alcohol and drugs. There is no indication that the suspect was talking about a crime. This case has become more complex as the leads that the authorities thought they had are leading to a dead end. The case against the 3 young suspect is also weakening.

UPDATE 15:The largest newspaper in Holland, Telegraaf, dedicated attention on its front page of the Sunday edition to the case of Natalee Holloway with large pictures of Natalee and the Dutch suspect Joran. The translation of the Dutch article published today is:

Title: More proof against Joran: Dark clouds hang above the head of Joran van der S. There has been more proof that the 17-year old son of a Dutch judge had something to do with the disappearance of the American student Natalee Holloway in Aruba. Joran is one of the last persons to see the 18-birthday girl alive. She went missing during a school trip to the Caribische island. Joran was the first one to be heard as a witness, but since Thursday he has become a suspected facing charges for murder, manslaughter and abduction with dead as consequence. Also his two Surinamese friends, Satish and Deepak K., were taken. Sources, that have seen excerpts of the declaration of the Surinamese brothers, affirm that Joran and Natalee kissed on the back seat of the car. There has been also some sexual activity between them.Meanwhile blood tracks have been found in the car.

Contrary to the US media, we can provide information from the local media of Aruba, as we speak the same language (Papiamentu) we can get the breaking news in our language and translate it in English and publish it right here. It’s important for the people all over the world to take in account that FoxNews and CNN have been reporting news prematurely and in some cases even falsely. The Aruban authorities have came out a couple of times to clarify and/or deny the news that had been published by international media. It’s clear that there is a communication gap on the island and we will try to follow the actual events trough the Aruban media and provide you with facts.
