Woman swapped girl, 10, to man for cocaine
Wednesday, March 24, 2010

SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) — Police in Michigan say a 45-year-old woman with a cocaine habit let a 67-year-old man have sex with a 10-year-old girl she was caring for in exchange for the drug.

Angela A. Blackwell of Saginaw Township is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and pandering.

She remained in jail Wednesday pending a preliminary hearing set for March 30. Her lawyer did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Police are searching for Johnnie L. Griffin on first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct and firearms charges.

If convicted, the pair could be sentenced to at least 25 years in prison.

Detective Sgt. Joseph Dutoi says Griffin had sex with the girl between September and February, while she was in Blackwell's care.

Police: Grandmother traded girl for drugs

Published: March. 24, 2010 at 12:18 PM

SAGINAW, Mich., March 24 (UPI) -- A Michigan woman has been charged with letting a man sexually assault her 10-year-old granddaughter in exchange for cocaine.

"These types of crimes rock the soul of the community and destroy the innocence of our youth," Saginaw Police Detective Sgt. Joseph Dutoi said.

Angela Blackwell, 45, was being held in the county jail on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under age 13 and one count of pandering, The Saginaw (Mich.) News reported Wednesday.

Johnnie Griffin, 67, was wanted on two gun charges and two counts of first-degree and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under age 13, Dutoi said. Police said they believe Griffin had left the area.

The assaults against Blackwell's granddaughter began in September and ended in February, occurring when the granddaughter visited Blackwell on weekends, Dutoi alleged. Police learned of the alleged assaults while investigating reports of similar crimes against Griffin, Dutoi said.

Saginaw woman awaiting trial on pandering charges

A Saginaw woman is in custody for allegedly prostituting her 10-year old daughter to a local drug dealer and businessman.

Angela Blackwell, 47, is awaiting her preliminary trial for charges of pandering, also known as pimping, and one count of criminal sexual conduct. Police say Blackwell is accused of selling her granddaughter in exchange for cocaine and other narcotics.

The suspected drug dealer, Johnnie Lee Griffin of Saginaw, is on the Crime Stoppers list of wanted criminals.

"It's alleged that she traded the granddaughter to this gentleman for narcotics and in exchange he was allowed to sexually assault her," said Sargent Joseph Dutoi.

Now police are on the lookout for Griffin, who faces multiple criminal charges.

If Griffin is convicted, he will face a mandatory 25-year jail sentence because the victim is under the age of 13; however, the charges won't end there. Once convicted, Griffin will face two counts of criminal sexual conduct one, one count of criminal sexual conduct two, and additional charges for the narcotics found in his home on Owen Street. Blackwell, on the other hand, could face a 20-year prison sentence for pandering and pimping. She also faces charges of conspiracy to commit criminal sexual conduct.

Police say they learned of the incident from another minor involved in a second criminal sexual conduct case pending against Griffin.

Police are not releasing information on this case, but say it is being investigated. In the meantime, the Crime Stoppers Unit is asking for help pinning down the suspect.

"We would like to get his picture and his face and his name out to community members in hopes that he will either turn himself in or that someone might see him and call either the Saginaw Police Department or local authorities," said Dutoi.

MONSTERS!

These two subhumans are vile and discusting!  And Blackwell was her "grandmother"...Nooooo she does not get to use this title.  Grandmothers are supposed to protect their grandchildren, not sell them for drugs.  And Griffin...He is nothing more than filth.  Discusting, dirty filth!

I hope both this little girl, and the other minor who brought this story to the attention of the police, are getting the help the need to over come the trauma inflicted on them.

DJ Offers Reward For Arrest In Child Sex Case
WHNN-FM Radio Personality Offers Up $1K

POSTED: 1:22 pm EDT March 25,2010
UPDATED: 1:51 pm EDT March 25,2010

SAGINAW, Mich. -- A Mid-Michigan radio personality is offering a $1,000 reward to help track down the man accused of having sex with a 10-year-old girl.

Saginaw police said a 45-year-old woman with a cocaine habit let 67-year-old Johnnie Griffin have sex with her 10-year-old granddaughter, getting the drug in exchange.

That woman, Angela A. Blackwell, of Saginaw County's Saginaw Township, has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and with pandering.

Police said they're still seeking Griffin on first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct and firearms charges.

WHNN-FM's Johnny Burke said that anyone with information leading to Griffin's arrest will be eligible for the $1,000 reward.

Investigators said they learned about the trade after Griffin allegedly touched another young woman in an inappropriate way, and that girl went to police.

This case sickens me -  I read it in the local news a couple of days ago and was shocked. The strange part is that it seems to have faded from the headlines here. How in the h*ll do they expect to find this guy if they do not keep his picture out there?  I am going into Saginaw today with my family and I will keep my eyes peeled.

IMG_0280.JPGView full sizeCourtesy Saginaw Police DepartmentAn arrest warrant issued by a Saginaw County judge charges Johnnie L. Griffin with two counts of first-degree and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under the age of 13 and four other felonies. Police continue to look for Griffin, who they say assaulted a 10-year-old girl whose grandmother was trading to Griffin for cocaine.Saginaw County prosecutors have filed additional charges in what police call a 67-year-old Saginaw man’s deal to swap cocaine for sex with a 10-year-old girl pimped by her grandmother that has grabbed national headlines.
Angela A. Blackwell, 45, who last lived at 1410 S. Center, Apt. 4, now is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13 or, in the alternative, two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13 during the commission of a felony.

Prosecutors also have charged her with single counts of pandering or pimping and possessing under 25 grams of cocaine.

Saginaw County District Judge M.T. Thompson today arraigned Blackwell on the new charges and increased her bond from $15,000 or 10 percent to $160,000 cash or surety only.

Police, meanwhile, continue to search for Johnnie L. Griffin, who last lived at 2517 Owen.

An arrest warrant for Griffin now charges him with the same sexual assault charges as Blackwell as well as single counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13 and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct by force or coercion. He also faces a charge of possessing with intent to deliver under 50 grams of cocaine and two firearm charges.

Since The Saginaw News broke the story Tuesday, national newspapers and two CNN Headline News shows have featured the charges.

The second- and fourth-degree sexual assault charges Griffin faces are in connection with two other victims in separate incidents, the warrant indicates.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct, the most serious of sexual assault offenses, involves penetration and carries a maximum sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole. When the charge concerns a person under 13, the minimum sentence is 25 years. Second degree involves touching and carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

Saginaw Police Detective Sgt. Joseph Dutoi said the granddaughter would visit Blackwell on weekends, and Blackwell would bring her to Griffin’s home, where, in exchange for cocaine or other narcotics, Griffin would be allowed to sexually assault the granddaughter. The first assault took place in September and last assault was in February, Dutoi said.

“I would anticipate even more charges,” he said. “As more crimes have come to light, additional charges have come up, and they may continue to.”

Dutoi said investigators don’t believe Griffin is in Michigan. Police believe he drives a two-tone blue pickup with chrome rims and a black tonneau cover.

The investigation is ongoing, Dutoi said.

“Detective Joseph Grigg has done an extraordinary job on this investigation,” he said. “He’s a credit to this police department and the community.”

Blackwell, meanwhile, remained lodged at the Saginaw County Jail awaiting a Tuesday preliminary hearing before Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank.
