With inflation pushing up earnings, couples will be liable for an extra £100 a year as tax thresholds do not rise correspondingly, he said.

He said stamp duty changes were designed to get first time buyers onto the housing ladder. But that change will be paid by a new higher, 5 per cent, rate for properties worth more than £1 million.

Mr Darling added: “One of the best ways to help middle class people is through jobs. Jobs is very much what I was talking about yesterday.”

Where are jobs on Obama's priority?  Jobs for everyone, regardless of race, ethnic, or political favoritism?  Jobs don't seem to be on Obama's priority list.

What does Obama sign into law?  Healthcare with built in racism and discrimination.  All benefits to Obama's chosen people.
