Amber Alert Issued for Oklahoma Girl

Friday , January 19, 2007

TEXHOMA, Okla. — Officials issued an Amber Alert for a 10-year-old girl from the Oklahoma Panhandle, officials tell FOX News.

Marissa Graham disappeared from Texhoma in Texas County Thursday night and neighbors saw her talking to an unknown white male in a white car before she disappeared, according to the Texahoma Sheriff's Department.

The girl is white with reddish-blonde hair and blue eyes. She's about 4-feet tall and 60 pounds.

Officials say the girl may be with a white man in his mid 30s to about 40-years-old. The man may be driving a white car, possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier.

The neighbor who spotted Marissa talking to the man turned away for a moment, and when he returned, the girl and the man were gone, the Texahoma Sheriff's Department told FOX News.

On Fox!  Good News!
TEXHOMA, Okla. —  Marissa Marie Graham was found in New Mexico Friday after she escaped from the back of a car when her kidnapper stopped at a convenience store for gas, officials said.
Oklahoma police issued an Amber Alert for the 10-year-old girl earlier, after she was reported missing in Texhoma in Texas County Thursday night. Police have a suspect in custody.

"She took the opportunity to bolt from the car and into the convenience store and identify herself as the girl everyone was looking for and give the telephone number for the Texhoma Police Department," said State Amber Alert coordinator Gene Thaxton.

The suspect was arrested at the store by New Mexico State Police and Clovis police, Thaxton said. His name was not immediately released.

What a brave girl to make a break for it in such a short period of time into her abduction.

God bless her for her will to break free.

According to a Fox report on now, they are looking for the abductor.  When the little girl ran into the store, the car took off.  The person of interest they were looking into does not appear to be involved.

The Clovis Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation need the public’s assistance in reference to the Marissa Graham case who was abducted by a stranger in Oklahoma and escaped in Clovis.

Search continues for kidnapping suspect

TEXHOMA, Okla. Investigators looking for the man who kidnapped a 10-year-old girl in Texhoma last week say they are frustrated they haven't been able to locate the suspect.
The man was last seen in Clovis, New Mexico, where Marissa Graham escaped from the vehicle she was in and ran into a convenience store.

F-B-I spokesman Gary Johnson says the girl was snatched by a man on January 19th while collecting money as part of a basketball fund-raiser. She was forced into the trunk of a white vehicle and tied up.

At some point, her abductor moved her into a purple vehicle, possibly a minivan or a hatchback. While at a convenience store parking lot in Clovis on Friday, Marissa used her foot to trigger a latch on the vehicle's door, ran into the store and told a clerk to call police.

Clovis is more than 200 miles from Texhoma, which is on the state line dividing the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles.

Police Release New Information about kidnapping
Created on: February 6, 2007 - 10:53PM - 9870

The man who kidnapped a 10-year-old Oklahoma girl last month is believed to have held her overnight at a Clovis residence before releasing her at a city convenience store, authorities said Tuesday.

Marissa Graham of Texhoma, Okla., was recovered safely Jan. 19, but her abductor remains at large.

The FBI released new information about the kidnapping based on several interviews with the girl. The bureau also announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

The suspect tied up Graham and placed her in his vehicle trunk in Amarillo before driving her to Clovis, FBI agent Michael Ward said Tuesday during an Oklahoma City press conference.

“Prior to exiting the trunk, a hood was placed over Graham’s face as she was taken inside the (Clovis) home,” Ward said. “Once inside, Graham was held for a period of time inside the closet.”

The girl told investigators she heard dogs barking loudly nearby and that there was a black cat with white paws inside the house, which the suspect referred to as “Whiskers.”
