Murder charge in girl’s death

AUSTINTOWN - Dressed in an orange jumpsuit and looking only at the floor, the man accused in the death of his girlfriend's 23-month-old daughter appeared before a Mahoning County court judge Wednesday morning.

Originally arrested and charged with felonious assault, Shawn Davis, 25, stood before Judge David A. D'Apolito facing a new charge of aggravated murder after Makenzie M. McBride died overnight in Akron Children's Hospital from injuries she had sustained.
