New Judge In Casey Case To Hold Hearing
Casey Anthony Charged With Murder In Death Of Daughter

POSTED: Thursday, April 29, 2010
UPDATED: 2:18 pm EDT April 29, 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony on Friday is scheduled to make her first appearance before a new judge in her murder case.

Judge Belvin Perry will hold a case-management hearing at 9:30 a.m. in courtroom 23 at the Orange County Courthouse. The hearing will be streamed on ClickOrlando.com.

Perry took over Anthony's murder case after Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland recused himself. Strickland's move followed a defense motion asking that Strickland be disqualified over a friendship with a blogger.

The hearing will be an opportunity for Perry to call all the attorneys together to ensure he has the information he needs to get up to speed on the case.

Anthony, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony.

Caylee was 2 years old when she was reported missing in July 2008. Her remains were found in December 2008 in a wooded area near the Anthony family's east Orange County home.

Anthony, who has pleaded not guilty, is being held at the Orange County Jail on no bond.

Latest Casey Anthony news-2 Hearings

BabyBear,Friday is fast approaching.

Hi Trim---Yes, It's fast approaching.  I have to take my dog to the vet tomorrow to get his blood sugar checked, but I'll be back home by 9:00.  I don't know when Judge Strickland ruled that Casey could wear civilian clothes in the court room for these pre-trial hearings, but I hope Judge Perry will put her back in prison clothes until there is a jury selected and present. Actually, she would looke better in prison clothes than those ill-fitting garbs Cindy furnishes. Why does she get special treatment? She's no better than the regular run of murderer, in fact if she killed Caylee with duct tape on her mouth and nose, that especially heinous.  IMO none of the Anthonys deserve special treatment, but they sure get it.  I so hope Judge Perry clamps down on them, especially the gum, water bottle, and Iphone.

Thanks again for all the info you bring.

BB, I too hope JP puts her back in jail garb...........I suppose since JS insisted she be there for EVER hearing he was a bit more lenient on the dress code. I hope JP brings a different level of respect for the court.......and that includes the gallery portion

I'm not sure if he was lenient about the dress code. I think JS thought it's less prejudicial to be in street clothes since it's a high profile case with the cameras zooming all the time, and I guess he was trying to be as fair as he could.

I think Casey wouldn't show up at all if she hadn't been ordered to. You all know how she enjoys napping after breakfast.
I hope they don't think they have a shot in hell with Berry removing the DP. He's more likely to impose it.
They are so incompetent. Between Bozo, Mason and Lyon it's almost like watching the Three Stooges, except they weren't serious.

Sorry if this is a repeat:

Casey Anthony: What to expect at Friday hearing?

Next in the Casey Anthony case: a much-anticipated hearing Friday with the new judge.

“Sources telling WESH2 [that] e-mails and communication between the state and the defense have already picked up significantly since Judge Belvin Perry replaced Judge Stan Strickland,” WESH anchor Martha Sugalski said tonight.

The state and the defense have met once in anticipation of the hearing, WESH’s Bob Kealing reported.

Kealing noted with Perry in charge there is a new emphasis on deadlines, speed, court decorum and avoidance of disparaging personal remarks.

“Certainly we have seen Jose Baez and prosecutor Jeff Ashton mix it up a little bit,” Kealing said. “We suspect those days are now over.”

In a later report, Kealing showed how Perry reacted strictly in sentencing a murderer who refused to cooperate with authorities. “You will never, never walk this Earth again as a free man,” Perry told the young man.

“Attorneys expect Perry to bring that same tough-as-nails, but-fair-to-both-sides attitude to the case against Casey Anthony,” Kealing said.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

WFTV-Channel 9 offered a short reminder about the status hearing at 9:30 a.m. Friday. WFTV promised live coverage on their Web sites.

WESH said it will offer coverage on its Web site and on the air. The station will cut into “Live With Regis and Kelly” and stick with the hearing depending on what unfolds.

Nope, I haven't, but I don't like it. Makes you wonder if the A's are wanting to visit and it's the prelude to a motion to not release their visits.
What are they saying at the other site you got it from?

I got it from topix & there wasn't a discussion yet, so I brought it here to see if someone could explain it.

I think it came from the county site, but I don't have a link to that.

cece- you should post the link from topix if you got it from there.  Someone else could go look and see if they could find the county site link if need be.
