Looks like I didn't miss anything. I got to the doctor's office early, and even though one of the alter cockers (old folks) TRIED to sneak ahead of me, I didn't let them.

So, I take it they want to postpone until 2011? I hope Caylee gets justice in this decade. It'd be nice.

There's a new judge in the Casey Anthony case -- Judge Belvin Perry -- and he looks to be running a tight ship.  Despite defense counsel requests that hearings on defense costs be private, Judge Perry has ordered that an upcoming hearing on how Casey Anthony's defense will be funded is to be a public hearing.

May 6, 2010, Hearing on Indigent Defense Costs for Casey Anthony Will Be Public

That's right:  anyone interested in hearing the details on how the defense of Casey Anthony in the trial of whether or not she murdered her daughter, and whether or not the State of Florida should execute her for that crime (if found guilty) will be PUBLIC.

Which, given the media coverage of the Casey Anthony case, means there will be countless news reports giving the financial details of this death penalty defense.

What Is Expected to Happen at the Casey Anthony Budget Hearing

At Thursday's budget hearing, Judge Perry expects to hear an estimate from the defense team on the number of hours their experts will need.  The Judge has also stated that he will want to know if the experts are willing to work under the fee schedule set by Florida's Justice Administrative Commission.  (Read the Scheduling Order here.)

The public will soon glimpse into the practicalities of defending someone who's facing the death penalty in Florida.  Experts -- and their hourly rates -- will be revealed, and discussed from a budgetary standpoint.
The JAC Fee Schedule Will Be Discussed - Hopefully, Part of the Indigent Defense Crisis Will Be Seen
The JAC fee schedule will be a subject of discussion, too.  Perhaps Judge Perry should review JAC v. Lenamon before the hearing on Thursday -- because the JAC has proven itself all too willing to appeal the decisions of trial judges that seek to be fair and reasonable in this area.
The experts needed for both the guilt phase and the penalty phase of any death penalty defense case are varied in their special knowledge and expertise and far from inexpensive due to their education and experience.  Their standard hourly rates will not jive with the JAC schedule.

With the hearing on May 6th, hopefully more people will become aware of the practical realities of indigent defense representation Florida and elsewhere.  Will the experts work for less than their standard rate?  How low does the State of Florida (through the JAC) expect doctors, psychiatrists, forensic specialists, etc., to charge?   Hopefully, the public will see some of these questions answered

well as uber smart and savvy as slore's pro bono team are, and the mention of dr. lee trading expertise for a crate of oranges, there should be no problemo.  They've already asserted that she has no mental defects, so why the need for more than one sit down with a psychiatrist, the rest are probably your usual paid witnesses to declare junk science, bada bing.

OFTLOG, what Lenamon is trying to say here is he hopes that the public feels sorry for indigent defendants who cannot afford the big bad State prosecution's case against them....to this I say CRY ME A RIVER & PUT A SOCK IN IT!

The defense requested it, so live with it & put a sock in it...bleeding hearts I swear.   So what we're supposed to empathize with murder defendants because they cant afford a trial?  For those guilty of murdering someone, maybe they should consider that BEFORE they take a life.   And why are they indigent?   Did they work, probably not.   Why did attorneys other than public defenders take the case then?   O yea, we know that answer.

Speaking of .. Florida and the Courts
I missed the majority of the program - was on cable the other night. Unfortunate I cannot recall what cable station it was on. A&E TLC ... can't recall.
However it was the case of Tiffany Cole who is currently the Only woman on Death Row in Florida.
Her ugly mug: http://www.dc.state.fl.us/ActiveInmates/Detail.asp?Bookmark=1&From=list&SessionID=23816028

Recent article mentioning Cole and Casey  http://www.clickorlando.com/news/19179372/detail.html
full article:

The prosecution announced Monday its intent to seek the death penalty against Casey Anthony, but historically the state of Florida has been hesitant to put a woman to death.
The state attorney's office initially said it would not seek the death penalty, but changed that decision with a court filing Monday afternoon.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony.
In nearly 100 years, a Florida jury has sentenced only 16 women to death, and most of those sentences were later thrown out for various legal reasons.

"Very few women are put to death in Florida," defense attorney Jose Baez said. "She's not a serial killer."

There are 392 people sitting on Florida's death row, and only one, Tiffany Cole, is a woman.
Cole was convicted of kidnapping a husband and wife from Duval County and burying them alive.

Two women have been executed in the state of Florida in the past 85 years, serial killer Eileen Wurenos and Judy Buenoano.  Buenoano earned the nickname "The Black Widow" for poisoning her husband with arsenic in 1971. She later drowned her paralyzed son in a lake and tried to blow up her boyfriend with a car bomb.

Anthony is charged with murdering a child, a crime that juries rarely find worth of capital punishment.

A South Carolina jury rejected the death penalty for Susan Smith in 1995. She was convicted of murdering her two young sons.

Andrea Yates was given a life sentence by a Houston jury for drowning her five children in a bath tub. Texas executes more people than any other state.
Orange County prosecutors did not seek the death penalty against Kenya Hill. While already on probation for child abuse, authorities found the body of hill's four-year-old daughter decomposing in a South Orange Blossom Trail motel room that was covered in trash and soaked with urine.

The child's skull had been fractured and she had contusions on her neck.
Hill was convicted of second-degree murder.

not sure if that is Orange County Florida or California. What a Monster.

Casey Anthony civil case: Lawyers to seek 'significant amount of money'

The Casey Anthony civil case went back to court Tuesday afternoon.  She's being sued for defamation after lawyers say she falsely accused a woman of kidnapping her daughter.

Zenaida Gonzalez attorney Keith Mitnik wouldn't say exactly how much money he's seeking from Casey Anthony but said it will be a "significant amount."

Casey has no money now, she has been declared indigent by the court.  But Mitnik said that could change.

"I don't know if there is a book deal or something," he said.

Monday, lawyers asked for more time to question Casey's jailhouse pen pal - trial wont start until early next year.

Judge: Anthony Civil Trial Will Be Heard First
Judge Decides Civil Trial Will Take Place Early 2011

POSTED: 3:18 pm EDT May 4, 2010
UPDATED: 3:34 pm EDT May 4, 201
ORLANDO, Fla. --
A judge decided Tuesday that the civil trial for Casey Anthony will take place early next year, before the criminal trial.

The civil case deals with a lawsuit filed by Zenaida Gonzalez against Anthony. Gonzalez claims her reputation was ruined when Anthony said she was the last person to look after Anthony's daughter Caylee.

Gonzalez has denied the claims. Casey was not required to attend today's hearing.

On Monday, Judge Belvin Perry finalized a schedule for Anthony's criminal trial that included three critical hearings in the next eight days.

A hearing will be held Thursday to talk about how much taxpayer money Anthony should be budgeted to aid in her defense, now that she has been declared indigent.

On Friday, defense attorney Jose Baez asked Perry if the budget concerns will be discussed in private. Perry decided the budget hearing will be held in open court Thursday.
Perry said he he wanted to know how many hours the defense team's experts will require and if they are willing to abide by the fee schedule set by Florida's Justice Administrative Commission.

Next week, a series of important defense motions will be heard, including a hearing on the trial's location and another to discuss whether evidence can be introduced suggesting the man who discovered Caylee's remain, Roy Kronk, should have been investigated as a possible suspect.
Perry said he also plans to consider a series of defense motions challenging the death penalty.

WESH 2's Bob Kealing said, by next week, followers of the case should expect to know how much money it will cost taxpayers to defend Casey Anthony, where her trial will be held and whether the state can keep pursuing the ultimate punishment against her.

Meanwhile, Anthony's civil case will be back in court Tuesday. A status hearing is scheduled for the defamation suit brought by the woman Anthony said was Caylee's nanny, Zenaida Gonzalez.

It's insulting that this murdering witch has the benefit of a team of established attys. stumbling over each other to represent her and yet have the gall to cry foul. With their combined expertise (exception, bozo) they are quailified to be on any high profile, high budget case.  Is the inference here that it's not the talent and knowledge that these professionals bring to the defense table but instead the bulging wallet?  Is he saying without saying it that money wins capitol cases?  Evidence  opinion can be bought at the right price, witnesses can be slandered thru the diligent services of a high price PI, Expert shopping costs big bucks to zero in on the one who just 'happens' to have the 'right' study to back up a theory.  Manufacturing doubt is costly so I echo Caps sentiment  if you're thinking about snuffing out a life, unless all the planets align correctly and you manage to snag a pro bono dream team, you could be having trouble winning your case........so why are the scheme team even sweating this, they should be able to call in some favors.

March 2010 - Tiffany Cole in front of Supreme Court

TALLAHASSEE — The only woman on Florida's death row has lost an appeal to the state Supreme Court. The justices unanimously affirmed Tiffany Cole's murder conviction and death sentence Thursday.

The 28-year-old woman was convicted in the deaths of a disabled Jacksonville couple, James "Reggie" Sumner and wife Carol, both 61. They were buried alive after being robbed in 2005.

Cole's lawyer argued her life should be spared because she didn't know the other defendants — including the mastermind and Cole's boyfriend, Michael J. Jackson — planned to kill the victims by burying them alive.

Jackson and another man, Alan L. Wade, also have been sentenced to death. A third man, Bruce Nixon, testified against the others and is serving a 45-year prison term.

The high court agreed Cole didn't know such a cruel method would be used, but said other factors justified a death sentence.

Florida has executed two women since reinstating the death penalty: serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 2002 and Judy Buenoano, convicted of poisoning her husband, in 1998.

Monday, lawyers asked for more time to question Casey's jailhouse pen pal - trial wont start until early next year.

thanks...well that's interesting

This a really good read on Tiffany Cole and anyone else that is currently serving Capital Charges in Florida - You can look at each person's case.

http://www.floridacapitalcases.state.fl.us/inmate-details.cfm?id=413

At the very bottom the info grabbed my attention:
snipped:
Cole filed a Direct Appeal in the Florida Supreme Court on 03/19/08. In that appeal, Cole argued that the trial court erred in (1) admonishing defense counsel for a cross-examination question to the State‘s witness, codefendant Nixon, concerning the parameters of Nixon‘s possible sentence under his plea agreement; (2) admitting photographs showing Cole and codefendants Jackson and Wade partying in Myrtle Beach before the murders; (3) instructing the jury on and in finding the avoid-arrest aggravating factor; (4) instructing the jury on and in finding the HAC aggravating factor; and (5) imposing death sentences that are disparate compared to codefendant Nixon‘s sentence of 45 years. Cole also contends that Florida‘s death penalty scheme is unconstitutional under Ring v. Arizona, 536 U.S. 584 (2002). The Florida Supreme Court did not find errors that warranted reversing the conviction or sentence. On 03/11/10, The Florida Supreme Court affirmed the conviction and sentence.

** I wonder if Lyon read up on this case and still thinks Women are victims of Gender in the Legal realm .. when they brutally murder someone.
Found her Judge - Circuit Judge Michael R. Weatherby 4th District, Jacksonville- Now retired.

Bob Kealing News Vid from Feb 2010 - talking about May 2011. Its a short vid. Why I put it up not really for what is on audio. The visual though is  to watch Baez in court "chumming" with BC in the court room ..and to watch Casey doodling acting like she is part of counsel.

I say go after their a$$e$ Mitnik, even if it's for the last 2 nickels they have to rub together!!!

Makes you Wonder doesn't  SeeMe ...How Many Nickels " Bobo" has tucked away in an account somewhere undisclosed.  There is no way in H@ll he is going to be able to produce IMO records of every dollar he has gone through to date for Judge Perry. Records sure he can create them. But the actual money ( ABC $$)  that was spent for the case via his/Baez's Accounting ... I would not trust any document as true. He as I said before more than likely fronted Money out of his own pocket/Case to date - and took the 200k+ and Banked it somewhere. Just reading from what was said today that he has only deposed to date "36" people " witnesses" ........what has he been doing all this time?  With Mark Nejame stating that team Bobo has been given everything but a Red Carpet to come to his office... etc.

Logically it makes no sense what so ever. None. I can't wait for Judge Perry to take all paperwork.  The "Paper Trail/ Accounting" submitted not so long ago to Judge Strickland.  For JP to take what Bobo says in his Court / papers he submits to Judge Perry .. comparing all of it to what was submitted to Judge Strickland.

If Bobo can admit in open court that he is not aware of his billable hour fee - nor can he even take a stab at how many hours he has billed .......HOW in the world could anyone be able to look at his accounting ledgers and believe they are not doctored. Mind boggle.
