Good morning, Monkeys!  I'm finally back from Louisiana, (music festival,) just in time for the intro to the new regime of Judge Perry.  As much as I respected the affable Judge Strickland, I'm hoping that Judge P is stricter and moves this case along.  I keep imagining him as a Louis Gosset type in "Officer and a Gentleman", serving up some Boot Camp discipline to the defense.   At any rate, I'll be in and out all day, choosing cabinets for our new house, and getting ready for two showings of our current one.  I've missed all the monkeys and am so thankful for all the updates and comments.
Quick O/T...So sorry for your losses, Capp and Loca.  My prayers are with you.

Casey Anthony will meet her new judge for the first time Friday.
Chief Judge Belvin Perry is taking over the trial after Judge Stan Strickland stepped down.

The purpose of today's hearing is to discuss deadlines for matters such as depositions and pre-trial hearings, and WDBO legal analyst Mark Nejame says Perry will also want to make a few things clear to the attorneys.

"I think the judge will assert himself and clearly establish whose courtroom it is," said Nejame. "I think he'll run a very tight, orderly, no-nonsense conference."

But Nejame praises both Strickland and Perry. He says they just have different styles. He argues that Strickland probably gave the defense a little more leeway to lessen their chances of being able to appeal.

The chief judge has the power to move up the accused child killer's trial date which was set for May 9, 2011 by Strickland, but Nejame says Perry probably won't take that step.

"I think he will honor the existing date but will likely let them know that he believes that that is more than enough time, and they better be ready," said Nejame. "Judge Perry will be a bit more exacting and demanding in holding people to schedules."

Nejame says Perry will also be strict when it comes to handling any bad behavior by attorneys in the courtroom.

"He will simply lay people out," said Nejame. "He'll likely give people a chance to correct their behavior, and then he won't tolerate it again. He will not be shy to impose sanctions."

Secondary Casey Anthony attorney leaves case

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - 1 of Casey Anthony's attorneys has removed himself from her case after getting in trouble with the California Bar.

Todd Mancuso said in a motion this week he was on "involuntary inactive status."

Mancuso told the defense team for the mother accused of killing 2-year-old Caylee Anthony in February he had entered an alternative discipline program.

Anthony is still being represented by Kissimmee-based attorney Jose Baez, prominent Orlando lawyer Cheney Mason and two other out-of-state attorneys.

The trial is scheduled to start in May 2011.

Mancuso was accused of mishandling several trust accounts, misappropriating $145,000 of client funds and misusing $61,000. He blamed staff members for the mistakes, saying he was troubled and distracted at the time by his brother's death.

When Perry takes the bench on Friday at 9:30 a.m., he has told both sides to be prepared to discuss the following:
•Deadline for depositions of all ordinary and expert witnesses.
•Deadline for future motions both pending and unresolved.
•Pretrial and trial dates.

Sources in the case said the number of emails between the two sides has picked up, and they've already met once in anticipation of Friday's hearing.

Perry also told lawyers to re-familiarize themselves with his 15 point courtroom decorum policy, address remarks to the judge and not each other, and avoid disparaging personal remarks or acrimony towards opposing counsel. The last point is aimed clearly at Jose Baez and prosecutor Jeff Ashton, who have been known to mix it up a little in previous hearings.

Casey Anthony, her team of lawyers — and the public — may get a sense today of what the future of her first-degree murder case will look like as it continues to unfold in Orange County.

At 9:30 a.m., Anthony and company will meet for the first time before Chief Judge Belvin Perry, who took over the proceedings last week after Judge Stan Strickland granted a defense motion and recused himself from the case.

Perry, who is well-acquainted with high-profile cases such as Anthony's, set a case-management hearing within days of assuming control of the capital proceedings.

Among the items he wants to discuss with defense attorneys and state prosecutors today: pending motions, pre-trial and trial dates, deadlines for future motions, and deadlines for when evidence will be released as part of the discovery process.

It's possible that the tenor of Anthony's case will change dramatically.

Perry has a reputation as being no-nonsense with little patience for bickering attorneys.

Strickland's courtrooms are more laid-back, and he calmly tolerated the lawyers' squabbles.

Earlier this month, Anthony's defense team filed a motion asking that Strickland remove himself from the case because of what they called a "personal relationship" the judge developed with a blogger who had been critical of their client.

Anthony's lawyers stated their client wouldn't get a fair trial because of that relationship.

Strickland granted their request, and in doing so, left more than a few piercing words for the defense team in his recusal order.
Strickland handled Anthony's case since she was first arrested in July 2008. Anthony, 24, is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie in the summer of that year.

Caylee's remains were found in December 2008, months after the toddler's family reported her missing.

I read it last night, and I used the quick view rather than the pdf.  Now that I opened it as pdf - what I thought was correct. Andrea Lyon wrote these filings. Her signature is on all the papers.  Nothing is dated though. Just says month of April ........ 2010. It is written to Judge Strickland. Pages 15, 16, They footnote a long the way Nancy Grace, Dr. Lillian Glass, Bloggers, sites alike for " premeditated Trashing" of Miss Anthony's Gender and Character. They even mention Tony R - for his remark that she was " loose" and Yuri Melich for asking Tony R if he was aware of Casey having  STD's..........*page 8

I think she is an embarrassment to her gender and she trashed her own character.
