I'll tell ya this when they perjure themselves (previous testimony) and/or refuse to answer (contempt) in the civil trial with this new date being closer to the murder trial, it will be fresh in every single potential jurors mind & there will be a treasure trove of statements to impeach them on the witness stand during the murder trial (admissible).   So much for delays clouding memories!

I am thinking this may be why everyone is so amicable to postponing this until closer to the murder trial. If BOZO had been half a lawyer he would NEVER have filed a counter suit on that lawsuit. BOZO could have just let that go to judgment against KC as she stood NOTHING to loose by having that against her. By filing that counter lawsuit, he opened up a can of worms for her and her family.

When the Anthony's all go to jail for perjury and being involved, they have STUPID BOZO to thank.......................

He was too afraid he was going to loose some of that money he was thinking he was going to "rake in" for KC and in the end will be the nails in her coffin over $15,000.  He has to be the world's most stupid lawyer setting his client up for that..

casey will die of old age before this case goes to trial.

Or we will!
That is what I was thinking

And if the trial was held in California and she got the death penalty, she would die of old age before she would be put to death.
That is very true. Might as well abolish the death penalty in this state.

I live in california and am so familiar with that statement. Theres been a man !! last name morales on death row since  the late 70's for the murder of a young woman.  he appealed saying that it was a cruel way to die(Needle)
how cruel is it when they can commit such horrible violent crimes and  expect special treatment. I wished they used the elec chair in all executions hell with the needle. When I lived in wa state another man on death row was sposed to die by hanging. He delibrately gained alot of weight and  appealed that it was cruel and unjust way to die. So I think maybe  other than the electric chair ! they need to die like gary gilmore in texas! died by the firing squad.

In regards to possibly throwing CinCin or George under the bus:  Wonder if the Defense wants the ob/gyn who delivered Caylee to testify as to what, if any, emotional pressure, etc. Casey was experiencing from them?

Casey Anthony defense wants documents sealed to keep strategy private
The defense team's request for various funding would lead to speculation, her attorneys argued.

 By Sarah Lundy, Orlando Sentinel
3:22 p.m. EDT, May 5, 2010
Hoping to keep their defense strategy under wraps, Casey Anthony's attorneys are asking a judge to seal documents related to the state-funded office that approves costs for indigent defendants.

"Documents and requests for funding will lead to endless speculation as to the defense strategy for defending Miss Anthony and could ultimately affect her right to a fair trial," defense attorney Jose Baez wrote in a motion made public today.

The defense's budget will be the focus of Thursday's hearing before Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry. He'll listen to how much her legal team expects to spend defending the 24-year-old of first-degree murder. The state is seeking the death penalty, which adds costs to her defense.

Perry, who took over the case last month, will hear from the Justice Administrative Commission on how much it's willing to use public money for her defense costs. The JAC is responsible for those payments.

JAC Executive Director Victoria Montanaro could not be reached for comment.

Casey Anthony is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie, in 2008. A medical examiner ruled her death a homicide but it could not determine how she died.

Casey Anthony is being held in the Orange County Jail.
In March, a judge ruled the state could pay for certain expenses related to her murder case. Those do not include attorney fees.

Defense attorneys now want Perry's approval to continue using:

• Out-of-state experts. They're not identified in the legal request but have worked hours inspecting evidence and reviewing more than 14,000 pages of investigative material.

Typically, the justice commission requires defense attorneys to use in-state experts but this is an "extraordinary case," the defense team argued.

• Mortimer Smith, an Illinois private investigator who has worked on the case for more than a year. The defense team would use him to investigate witnesses and issues that are out of the state. Florida-licensed investigators would follow up on in-state issues.

• And mitigation specialist, Jeanene Barrett, who has logged hundreds of hours learning about Anthony's life history. The defense argues it would be too costly to replace her at this point.

Her work becomes critical if Casey Anthony is found guilty of murder. During the penalty phase of the trial, the defense will present reasons why the single mother should not get the death penalty.

All agreed to be paid the financial rates outlined by the JAC.

Thursday's court appearance is the first in a string of hearings scheduled by Perry.

Another one on Monday will focus on several pending defense motions, such as a request for change of venue, a request to keep a jury from seeing party pictures of Casey Anthony and a request to keep jail visitation logs private.
A hearing Tuesday will deal death penalty motions.

Sarah Lundy can be reached at slundy@orlandosentinel.com and 407-420-6218.

Casey's Attorneys Want Spending Kept Private

Quote
But, instead of opting for a public defender back then, only two months after Caylee had disappeared, Casey sold all of her own videos and photos of Caylee to ABC for $200,000 and two of her attorneys, one of whom has since left the case, raised another $140,000.

That money is gone now and taxpayers have no idea where all of it went. But now the defense wants to keep its future spending of tax money on her behalf a secret.

Good evening Monks,
I'm exhausted but wanted to chime in. Personally, I don't think Judge Berry is going to approve any of Bozo's motions.
Secondly, why does the duhfense need out of state experts? There's no reason for it. I'm sure if they put their little heads together they could very easily find expert witnesses that reside in the state of Florida. I'm sure The Jar, with all of his connections, knows plenty of them.

Furthermore, I really have my doubts that this particular civil case will be heard before the criminal case. I just don't see that happening.

As an aside, I just turned on NG which is sponsored tonight by Preparation H. I thought that was hilarious and very fitting.
Here comes the thunder. Hope the lights stay on. I'm in no mood to reset all the alarm clocks.

Preparation H....

Lol! I know. It just struck me so funny! How apropos!

IMO Nancy Grace is some kind of ghoul.  She loves to say things like, "A blood-soaked pillow and a body still warm."  And, "Double-bagged and thrown away like trash."  She needs to apply that Preparation H to her mouth.

While she has stopped her coverage of Caylee's murder, she has from time to time indicated pity for George and Cindy.  That and her vampirish expressions like, "Is mommy in the lake?" are too much for me to take.  I'm tired of her, I'm tired of her twins, I'm tired of her "I'm a crime victim, too." I hear when she was a prosecutor in Atlanta specializing in homicides, she never lost a case.  Sometimes if a jury doesn't like one of the lawyers, they will vote for the other side.  I wonder how in the world she won all of those cases because I find her singularly unlikeable.

Morty is tied to DePaul and Lyon.  Maybe a way to get DePaul out of its financial challege and some money back to Ms Lyon's little study group/Center for Justice  that is associated with DePaul as well?  If Morty makes money the Ms Lyon and her Center for Justice as well as DePaul all benefit.  What a small quait world they all live in.

Well, I'm packing up for a trip back to Jersey for babygirl's graduation, leaving in the morning so I'll probably miss most of the hearing live BUT I got a surprise present from hubby for the trip.   He bought me a Dell laptop WOO HOO!   So between traveling and a bit on the long weekend plate, I'll at least be able to view it somewhere in between.   FWIW, my prediction is that most of the defense motions will be denied & they will have to make quite a few compromises in who they continue to or expect to use as expert witnesses - hey, they asked for it.

Interesting the defense motion speaks to how many hours the mitigation specialist has already worked on the case & ascertained God knows from Casey & her family (I would imagine she is also interviewing family, ex-friends)...what does that speak to?   I say it is a large indicator that they anticipate a conviction which goes against everything they have been putting out to the public.   My personal view on this, I really dont care how much they make a soap opera of her sorry life to save it just so long as she gets convicted of felony murder & never sees civilization again, I can live with that.

I'll start the ball rolling early....Justice for Caylee      Have a nice evening, I'll check in when I can.

The other out of state specialist also works for Ms Lyon.  At the surface it would appear that AL seems to really be benefitting by keeping all her people working on this case.  Guess there has to be some way to recoup the $70,000 she says she raised to help pay the defense
