Hello Monkeys!

I have some thoughts I'd like to share.  I watched this hearing yesterday on In Session (not live, but the recaps).  They included footage from the Mar 18 indigency hearing when all the attorney's for the defense testified that they don't have any movie/book/licensing deals.

I remember when watching that hearing live back in March, wondering why no one had the foresight to mention in that courtroom that George and Cindy Anthony had trademarked the name Caylee Marie Anthony.  That it is THEM who "own" the rights to anything Caylee.  Remember when they did that?  Before her body was found.

Why did no one - not the Judge, not the JAC, and not the State - ask if the Anthony family had any deals in the works?

For heaven's sake - that bald Jim guy that works for........it's either Good Morning America or the Today Show..can't remember which - is in the courtroom for every single hearing, with G&C.  He was even there for yesterday's hearing, with some blonde woman taking notes next to him.

Why has no one asked about what future monies are in store for the Anthony's because of any media/publishing deal they've made?

I know some of you Monkey's have a direct line to Kathi Belich, and I just thought this might be worth following up on - now that Florida taxpayers have to foot the bill for this defense.

We know that the Anthony's have put every last dime they have (and have been paid) into that defense fund.  Their house wouldn't be in foreclosure if they had been using their money for themselves.  So why were THEY not required to testify at the indigency hearing?

Hi jen......To my knowledge the 's have NOT put anything in the defense fund. they quite their jobs and sin-sin has been collecting disability (I don't know if she is still collecting it or not) I don't believe their foreclosure has anything to do with them putting any monies in a defense  fund. The A's collected, IMO, a LOT OF money from the general public at their tents and via the mail. We know georgie boy was collecting money for women..........we know they collected money from the media........we know they stopped paying their mortgage last year....we know they went on a cruise, got tattoos, georgie got earrings.  They send their murdering daughter about $100 a month on average.  I do not remember reading or hearing anything about them contributing to the defense fund..............but I am sure I have not heard and read about it all.....so please share with us if you have knowledge of them contributing....

In Session (Tru TV) has Lyon on about the death penalty in hearing the day Caylee was found.  Interesting to listen to now, knowing what we know.

Casey Anthony Judge Picks Expert Witnesses for Defense

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS/WKMG/AP) The trial of Casey Anthony, who is charged with murdering her daughter, will be a "battle of the experts" because of circumstantial evidence in the case, a judge said Thursday, as he picked which specialists defense attorneys could hire with public funds.

The 24-year-old mother has been declared indigent, allowing public money to pay for expert witnesses and costs in addition to attorney fees.

During Thursday's hearing, Chief Judge Belvin Perry denied requests to spend public money on four expert witnesses and forensic tests requested by Anthony's defense attorneys. The judge nixed a trace evidence expert, a cell phone expert, a jury consultant and money for a car to replicate evidence found in Anthony's car.

Perry approved spending public money on 10 other experts including a bug expert, a forensic anthropologist, a forensic botanist and famed forensics expert Henry Lee, who has worked on the Phil Spector and JonBenet Ramsey cases. Those experts can give opinions on body decomposition based on plant growth and insects found around a body.

The judge denied a request from Anthony's attorneys to seal all records related to the public funding of her defense. The defense attorneys had argued their release would jeopardize her right to a fair trial by revealing defense strategy.
Rachel Fugate, an attorney for The Orlando Sentinel, told a judge that the request was too broad.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty to murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, and said a baby sitter kidnapped the toddler. Her trial is set to start in May 2011.

Caylee disappeared in June 2008 but she wasn't reported missing until almost a month later. Her remains were found in December 2008 in woods not far from the home she lived with her mother and grandparents.

Good Morning Monkeys and guest!

Hope all are enjoying this beautiful Friday morning. I have a question? All of the hearings are leading up to a death penalty trial.....Why is Bozo  still listed as lead attorney? He is not a death penalty qualified attorney......Does that mean he can stay as lead attorney up until she is convicted and then Mason or big Al takes over?

Has it been mentioned anywhere why the A's weren't in court yesterday?
I didn't see Conman there, although I thought I saw someone in a wheel chair, but this person had a full head of hair.

I agree with you, Sunny. It's never been said that the A's have contributed a dime to the defense. I don't really know what their reasoning for allowing their home (that Georgette swore they would never lose) to go into foreclosure, but as far as I'm aware, it's not because they were contributing to the defense coffer.

I can't comprehend why Bozo thinks that Florida laws should be changed to accommodate his client, yet he asks over and over again.

I'm not so sure they are going to try to plead her out. They seem intent on spending whatever monies the state of FL. will allow them. IF their plan is to plead her after utilizing all this money, they should be made to reimburse the state. If they plan to throw her on the mercy of the court, they surely have the wrong judge. Not only does he not have a problem with the death penalty, but I read someplace that he was front and center at the execution of someone he sentenced to death.

Personally, I have always been against the death penalty, but when I listen to the arguments of Casey's defense, I just want to do the opposite of what they say. If they presented in a way that didn't fashion their client as a victim, and if they stopped their incessant whining, and stopped trying to seek sympathy for themselves for not being allowed this and that, their arguments would be tolerable. If they turn ME off (a card carrying liberal), I can only imagine how a jury will react to them.

Brandi I thought that photo of LKB was fake and that the twitter was fake - It is " her" twitter - the picture matches her Bio and written media on the Huffington Post.
I don't know who she is kidding ..she does not look like that photo. noooo Maybe 20 yrs ago.
I guess if it makes her Smile ..that's what matters.

Kind of misleading to post an old photo like that. That's all I meant.

*shrug*

Hi Brandi and all---It might make her smile but it makes me laugh.  I'll never forget that lace-up-the-back black dress thingy she wore in court.  I don't know if there is a course in law school on how to dress professionally for court, but there should be and she should take it, as well as Ms. Lyon.  Clothes do make the man, or in this case the woman.  Many, if not most, people make a judgement on a first impression. If a person is not dressed appropriately for the occasion, it reflects badly on them, IMO.  Perhaps I shouldn't say this, but both Ms. Baden and Ms. Lyon look slovenly, as if they don't care about their appearance.  I think you must look your best to do your best.

hi BB........I wondered where you were

I 'heard' from several female attorney's in Houston that some female attorney's felt like they bonded' with jurors better if they dressed down as opposed to dressing up. Fortunately none of our female attorney's felt that way. They were stylish and professional just as  Linda Drane Burdick.  Personally both Lyons and Baden looks like old bar gals to me...JMO

HiSunny  I've been around--avoiding "War and Peace."  Tolstoy is long and boring.
Monkey Devil!  But that's probably just me. I've been booted off a lot--feel like the "Lost Colony."

I'm sure the attorneys you talked to about what constitutes professional attire in a courtroom are correct--after, all, attorneys know a lot more about it than I !!! But I would resent it if I were on a jury and felt an attorney were "Dressing down," for me.  But I am a stickler about it. I couldn't be on this jury anyway because when asked, I have to say. "I think she's guilty as sin and I would never change my mind no matter what you say."

I did watch the hearing on TruTV.  I was impressed with Judge Perry's decisiveness and his ability to immediately cite applicable laws and precedents.  He certainly did his homework.  Judge Strickland was an affable fellow but I feel he gave Baez et al much too much leeway and did not demand his court be respected as he should have done.  It amused me to see at the last hearing Cindy and George had dispensed with the gum, or maybe it was hidden in their mouths somewhere.  I'm sure that someone told them when they were checked through security that they could not chew gum, use cellphones or swig from their ever-constant water bottles in Judge Perry's courtroom.  I think that rather than give up these disgusting habits even  for a couple of hours, they decided not to play.  I wonder if there is an intervention group devoted to ridding someone of gum addiction.

Casey's lawyers keep saying she deserves a fair trial.  IMO she deserves nothing. She is, however, entitled to a fair trial.  This entire family is a waste of space.

Mike Brooks is on "In Session" now talking about the chloroform levels in KC's trunk. He is saying there was ALSO a rag with "supposedly" chloroform on it.

I don't remember reading about a rag found in the trunk in discovery......anyone else ?

SEEME~  wow, I don't remember that if that's accurate, that's a smoking gun in my opinion.  Maybe that's how Ashton was able to give that last few moments of Caylee's life explanation with such convincing authority.

I don't know, but what I do know is that anyone in the position that Casey is in, and being indigent, it makes me ill that this chick has people falling all over her to help. While others are lucky to get one public defender.
