The follow crime story is not one of murder or mystery, but one of bizarre, WTF admission.

Matthew & Laura Eaton went on the Dr Phil Show last November and admitted to being professional shoplifters. They also admitted to making thousands of $'s by seeling the hot items on eBay. Great, unsuspecting people bought stolen merchandise.

Worse yet, Dr Phil did a show of people who were not telling a story of being convicted in the past and mending their troubles way, he was telling and promoting these people's actiona who were presently stealing.

Read the story to believe ...

A search warrant was served at the home last Thursday . The multi-agency San Diego Regional Fraud Task Force recently seized toys, a car and other belongings from the home of Laura and Matthew Allen Eaton on Leslie Court.

The couple were videotaped on a three-day trip with their children, during which they hit 27 stores and estimated they had stolen more than $5,000 worth of merchandise, the Times reported.

In the episode, titled “Shoplifting Confessions,” Eaton said the couple amassed nearly $1 million in stolen goods over the past seven years.

The words of Ron White  "you can't fix stupid" come to mind after reading this article.    That would apply to Dr. Phil in this case and the thieves.  JMHO

SAN MARCOS: Shoplifting couple sentenced in federal court
Posted: Monday, March 22, 2010
A San Marcos husband and wife who admitted to being professional shoplifters on national TV were sentenced Monday by a federal judge who scolded them before handing down longer prison terms than prosecutors had sought.

U.S. District Court Judge Irma Gonzalez also had some choice words for Dr. Phil McGraw, whose talk show Matthew and Laura Eaton appeared on in November 2008 to detail their illegal activities ---- stealing toys and selling them online for six years.

She sentenced Matthew Eaton to 27 months in prison, almost double the term prosecutors had sought. Eaton has been in jail since his arrest in September.

The couple pleaded guilty in December to one count of conspiracy to transport stolen property in interstate commerce, with prosecutors agreeing to seek only 15 months for the husband, Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Jones said.

Gonzalez sentenced Laura Eaton to 12 months in prison; prosecutors had sought 10.
