Death penalty in Peru????? Many countries won't extradite perps who may be subject to the death penalty.  In any case, Peru just HAS to be tougher on murderers than The Netherlands or Aruba!

FYI - There was an earlier post that indicated that there is NO death penalty in Peru.

Let me clearify:  There is no death penalty for acts that Joran committed on the young woman; there is a death penalty in 2 instances (can't remember but they had something to do with teason and/or war)

THis 5 year anniversary killing was not a coincidence IMO.  With the abrasions, it seems she was beaten as well as being stabbed; this sounds like a rage killing to me.  A sociopathic mind could be in a rage state on the anniversary of a killing that has dogged Joran around the world for the past 5 years, and now his father, his defender, his protector, his only friend and his clean-up crew is deceased.  There were date-rape drugs found on the woman's car seat.
Yep, I could see all of this turning into a rage killing.

Aruba's new stance: We have been so miserable for five years now. He has been very lucky in escaping the iron clad fists of our sophisticated and most efficient judicial system. It has been an unfortunate and trying time for us all. We even went so far as to label him persona non-grata in attempts to disassociate him from our Happy Island. We are now dilligently working with Interpol as our island always complies with the side of justice in the world. He has caused too many innocent natives of our country to suffer.

This be be verbatim to Julia's statement tomorrow.

Holloway Suspect Eyed in Peru Murder

HOUSTON - There's a manhunt for the main suspect in Natalee Holloway's disappearance. Joran Van der Sloot is now wanted for murder in a different case.

Exactly five years to the day Holloway went missing, a young woman has been found murdered in Peru.

Reports say Stephany Flores, 21, was stabbed to death in a hotel room registered under Van der Sloot's name. The Dutchman was in Peru for a poker tournament.

He apparently can be seen with Flores in a video taken at a Lima casino early Sunday hours before her body was found.

Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch, says he's not entirely surprised Van der Sloot is a suspect.

Miller talked to Van der Sloot while his volunteers were in Aruba searching for Holloway.

"Joran was very, very arrogant. He was a sociopath. He controlled his entire family. If Joran Van der Sloot would have been in prison where he deserved to be, we would not have another murdered girl," said Miller.

Miller hasn't given up hope Holloway's body will be found. He wants to raise enough money to go back to Aruba with a remote underwater vehicle.

"I think we've always known and always felt as though Natalee has been put in a container taken out to sea and dumped in the sea," said Miller.

Miller says he's disgusted with Aruban authorities for not arresting Van der Sloot sooner, and for the first time is supporting a boycott of the country.

It's believed Van der Sloot is on the run in Chile. His attorney cautioned Van der Sloot has been "falsely accused of murder before" and urged the public not to rush to judgment.

I think this is the website for the hotel. $16.00 day. Explains why no maids entered and discovered the girl between Sunday and Wednesday.

http://www.guiahostal.com/lima/hotel_tac.htm
OMG that hotel is or people just go there to have sex .....they just pay for hours.....nasty that area is very dangerous..I though that guy had money
I think Joran tried to ACT like he had money.  Just a druggie without a job that played poker for play money.  His family has some money but not Joran.  So what is the word in Lima?  Anything different from what we are hearing or anything new?
The atlantis gives you free cigarrets, drinks and food (sandwhiches, soups etc) the hole night when you are playing ....... the hotel is in Miraflores a nice area in Lima but  it is exactly located on Republica the panama ( mayor freeway that crosses Miraflores) is a no no area to stay.
Stephany is in the news in Peru because her father is a very influent person in Peru.

Thanks, Cecilita.  Hopefully, then, with Stephany's father being an influent person in Peru that he will have enough pull, enough people behind him, to demand and get all the attention that can be had on finding Joran.

I would really be justice if Stephany's father's influence could put Joran away forever; just opposite of Joran's father's influence kept Joran from being put away with respect to Natalee.

Atlanta Investigator Hopes for New Leads in Holloway Case

This weekend marked the five year anniversary of the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway. The Atlanta private investigator hired by Holloway's family to help find the truth said Wednesday that he hopes this latest case involving Joran van der Sloot will take them in the right direction.

Peruvian police said the young Dutchman who was twice arrested in the 2005 disappearance of Holloway is now a suspect in the slaying of a Peruvian woman.

Chief of detectives Col. Miguel Canlla said police are seeking van der Sloot in the Sunday killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in a Lima hotel.

The girl’s father, Ricardo Flores, says van der Sloot appeared with his daughter in video taken at a Lima casino early Sunday.

Police say they are seeking to confirm van der Sloot’s identity with the Dutch Embassy.

Peruvian immigration officials said van der Sloot departed Peru on Monday.

Private investigator TJ Ward said he hoped the Peru case will shed more light on the Holloway case. Ward said that if van der Sloot is involved in the new murder, he may have nothing to lose by telling the truth about what happened to Holloway.

Ward said he talked to the Holloway family and is reaching out to the Peru victim's family.

A spokeswoman for Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty, said the family is aware of the latest developments but have no comment.

Chile looks for Joran v.d.Sloot
Updated: Thursday, June 3, 2010, 02:49

The Chilean police are looking for with all their might to Joran van der Sloot, who is suspected of a murder in Peru. All hotels in northern Chile are checked, so far unsuccessfully.

The 22-year-old is suspected that he was last Sunday in his hotel room in Lima, a 21-year-old Peruvian has slain. Her body was found yesterday, Van der Sloot had already traveled to Chile.

Van der Sloot is still five years old suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway case in Aruba. Remarkably, both the disappearance and murder took place in Peru on May 30

Joran tries to reach his lawyer

LIMA (Reuters) - Dutchman Joran van der Sloot, who is suspected of murdering the Peruvian Stephany Flores, through third parties trying to establish contact with his American lawyer, Joseph Pina Taco. This has Pina Taco Peruvian radio station RPP Noticias across the states.
Taco Pina told the radio station not knowing where the client resides. He considers it 'difficult''to defend him because he does not know the Peruvian legislation, said RPP Noticias.
Stephany Flores was found dead in the hotel in the Peruvian capital Lima, where her testimony with Van der Sloot were seen going inside. The 21-year-old was in a room that had been made in the name of Van der Sloot.

If Joran is running to a country that would possibly not extradite him, why didn't he go over into Brazil?  It's even closer to Peru than Argentina.  Just wondering...

The Andes?

If Joran crossed over into Chile on Monday...the body was found on Wednesday...Joran could have hopped a plane into Brazil on Monday.  Of course, it just might be that Joran couldn't possibly have known that the body wouldn't be found until Wednesday and, therefore, he wouldn't want to take a chance of being seen in an airport.  He might have thought that to simply take a bus would be the most likely chance of him not being recognized by someone.

Do you mean Bolivia?

No, actually, I was thinking Brazil.  I may be "wrong", but isn't Brazil a country that won't extradite....or am I getting it mixed up with won't extradite to the USA because of the death penalty.  (I'm probably thinking wrong here because I don't know foreign country laws).

I think that he flew from Lima to Tacna (the border) and then cross the border to Arica, I think that Lima to tacna is more than 24 hours trip.
