Holloway suspect attempting to contact his attorney after Peru murder

LIMA, PERU (BNO NEWS) — A Dutch man who is the prime suspect in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway and that is being sought in connection with the murder of a young woman in Peru, is attempting to contact his attorney, local media reported on Wednesday.

Joran van der Sloot’s attorney Josephine Tacopina told Peruvian radio network RPP that he received an “e-mail that appears to be from a third person who told me that van der Sloot is attempting to contact me to get legal advice,” he said

Tacopina noted that it will be “difficult” to defend van der Sloot because he don’t known the Peruvian laws.

Police in Lima said Van der Sloot, 22, is the main suspect in the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, whose body was found in the Miraflores District of Lima in the early morning hours on Wednesday.

Authorities said the body of Ramirez was found covered in blood in the hotel room of Van der Sloot, at the Tac Hotel in Lima. She is believed to have died from multiple stab wounds.

Friends of Flores said she had left them around 2.45 a.m. local time, and then went to visit a casino in Lima. Several hours later, at 5.16 a.m., Flores was seen leaving the casino while in the company of Van der Sloot. Her car was later found in another part of the city.

Van der Sloot arrived in Peru from Argentina on May 13, according to police, who said he left Peru by road on Monday afternoon. He is believed to have traveled to Chile.

The victim’s father, Ricardo Flores, urged authorities to arrest him. “This is not his first murder. In 2005 he killed another girl,” Ricardo said, referring to Natalee Holloway. “But because the body was not found, he was released.”

Ricardo said he appealed to Interpol to help apprehend Van der Sloot. ” I don’t want to see more people suffering,” he said. “I want to avoid that this man continues to kill.”

A spokeswoman for Aruba’s Prosecutor’s Office, Ann Angela, said her office had been updated on the Peruvian investigation and confirmed that Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant in connection with the Peruvian murder. “I can confirm that he is a suspect in the death of a Peruvian woman,” Angela said. “Also that he was placed on the list of the Interpol.”

American teenager Natalee Holloway went missing on May 30, 2005 during a high school graduation trip to Aruba. The case received international media attention, but her body was never found.

Van der Sloot remains the prime suspect in her disappearance, and made several ‘confessions’ during interviews with hidden cameras. Real evidence, however, was never found.

How friggin' stupid can one person be? We all knew it would just be a matter of time before this $hithead murdered again, but to go from being so slick about it to just plain obvious is amazing to me. And then his next brilliant idea is to try to contact takeapenny for advice??? Gee, I wonder why he didn't call his Mommy or his good friend, Julia wannabe Renfo?
I bet she is scrambling to excuse his behavior in her sorry excuse for a newspaper. I cannot wait to see how the other side is reacting to this.
Maybe Stephani laughed at Joran's 'manhood'?
May God give comfort to the souls of Natalee and Stephani, and may Joran rot in Hell for what he has done.

May today be the day that Joran is captured!

I am heartsick and queasy to learn of the brutality and force in which Stefany died. Then my thoughts turn to sweet little Natalee.

It is just too much for Beth and family and Stefany's loved ones to bear.

They can track him to a general area such as IP (internet provider) or if he is hitchhiking on somebodies wireless they can trace him that far.

BREAKING NEWS: Some reports say that Joran van der Sloot, longtime suspect in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway five years ago and prime suspect of the brutal stabbing death days ago of 21-year-old Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, has been found dead near the Peru border after allegedly committing suicide.

But we would need to know in advance what computer he was using and the IP address to be able to track his computer. And that he was the one in possession of the computer at the time (hope that makes sense)



Apparently Steph has family in Miami -- cousins -- they were on the Today show this morning. I can't find anything in the local paper, I will keep looking.

Steph is the angel that will result in Natalee's justice. I can feel it. RIP Stephany.

Joran van der Sloot, the chief suspect in the disappearance of US high school graduate Natalee Holloway, is once again suspected of murder. It is alleged that he stabbed a Peruvian woman, 21-year-old Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramírez, to death in a hotel room in Lima, the capital of Peru. The murder took place on Monday morning. The room was booked in the name of Van der Sloot.

His name has surfaced in various Peruvian media, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office on the island of Aruba, where Ms Holloway disappeared, has since confirmed that he is a suspect.

Mr Van der Sloot and Ms Ramírez are reported to have visited a casino before the murder, and security camera images reputedly show the couple leaving it together. Hotel employees have also stated that they saw the two together. The police are said to have found Mr Van der Sloot’s footprints.

The events took place in Miraflores, a rich district of Lima, famed for its many shops, restaurants and clubs and a popular spot for people in their teens and twenties. Ms Ramírez was the daughter of Ricardo Flores, a noted Peruvian businessman and racing driver. He has recounted the story of his daughter’s murder on Peruvian television.

The Aruban Public Prosecutor’s Office says Mr Van der Sloot is now a fugitive and being sought by Interpol. He is thought to have departed for Chile on Monday, and from there to be preparing to travel to Argentina. The Dutch Foreign Ministry in The Hague says he is still in Chile.

The 22-year-old man has long been considered the chief suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, who went missing on the Caribbean island of Aruba in 2005. No trace of her has ever been found and Aruban police and justice officials still have no concrete evidence about what happened to her. On separate occasions since, Mr Van der Sloot claimed to have helped dispose of her body and to have sold her into slavery. He later retracted both statements.

The latest developments in the Joran van der Sloot saga have captured the imagination of many news media around the world.

Peru's daily El Comercio writes, 'Holandés presunto asesino de Stephany Flores también está implicado en casos de proxenetismo', devoting considerable space on its website to the recent murder and to Joran's past "as a pimp".

With the suspect of the Natalee Holloway disappearance case back into the limelight, US media are following suit. CBS for a while opened its website with "Joran van der Sloot Eyed for Murder in Peru; Previously Detained in Natalee Holloway Case", triggering a flood of online reactions. ABC News, too, is receiving lots of responses to the latest development.

The wait is for more news from Peru. RPP Noticias says its reporters spoke to two brothers who took Joran van der Sloot to the Chilean border town of Arica. "We didn't talk, he didn't speak any Spanish. All he did was wake up, smoke and fall asleep again," the brothers say on the Peruvian news site.

They describe Joran as wearing shorts, white sneakers and carrying two suitcases.
