Wonder how this will effect Sebastian in college?

After watching Sebastian and Valentijn for the last 5 years I think Val is the most normal. Sebastian appears to be headed down the same path as Joran I'm afraid.  I think SABAS has some serious problems.

The connections are GONE, and Joran is hung out to dry and twist in the wind.

Does anyone know the interrogation practices in Peru? (not policies, practices)

I worked with a couple of Peruvians years ago...too bad I have no contact with them any longer because I'd ask.

Nonesuche and all those who have come back recently....good to see all of you....(trying to get this in before I get locked out, which has been the case the past couple of days!)

I just have to say this:

I am so struck by the circumstances going on here. Stephany has been tragically murdered and all indications are that Joran really will face justice for what he did to her. Aruba worked hard to allow him the opportunity to strike again and took that risk trying to make Natalee just go away.

Look at all that has unfolded here. Natalee is wrapped up in almost every aspect of Stephany's case! She was murdered on the 5th anniversary of Natalee's death. Beth was on the brink of being able to protect Stephany and others by getting Joran off the streets!

Once again, Aruba has caused it all to be back on the front page and the Alabama girl that needed to disappear is more visable than ever! This IS justice for Natalee, and I never thought I would see it! I don't think Aruba is going to escape unscathed either. WOW!!

Aruba fears another Van der Sloot dip

Our editorial on June 4 '10 , 10:42, Updated June 4 '10 , 11:40

PHILIPSBURG - In Aruba, they are not happy with the new affair Joran van der Sloot. The search and the arrest of 22-year-old Dutchman in Chile was the world news in recent days. And it was also the disappearance of American Natalee Holloway recalled.

Holloway, then 18, disappeared on May 30, 2005 during a vacation in Aruba. Van der Sloot is suspected of having killed her. Claims to have given her alcohol and drugs and wild sex with her had, after a night out. Holloway's body was never recovered after that night. Van der Sloot the U.S. would have killed, the police (yet) to prove conclusively.

The residents of Aruba tourism are concerned that any renewed focus on the Holloway case on the tourist trail is dry. The American tourists were already lower because of the economic crisis.

"Joran was a while ago bij some still count leniency, because the boy was from a decent family die apparently uiteindelijk zelf psychiatric hulp wilde order zijn urge tot lie and zijn anger attacks under control, but now bij everyone the measure vol 'says a friend of Joran mother.

The Public Prosecutor of Aruba has announced that Van der Sloot is still a suspect in the Holloway case. It is therefore important that Van der Sloot will be found and arrested

Clarifying the "AGAIN:"

Natalee was the wrong daughter, also.  When Natalee's family arrived within hours of her disappearance, Paulus was surprised.

Aruba was surprised by the publicity; surprised by Beth's determination.  The hoped for "two-week wonder" turned into a five-year march.

Natalee was "the wrong daughter" as was Stephany.

Joran is under the bus and likely to get squashed.

I agree.  My comment was that he picked the wrong country this time.

He certainly did.

I contend Joran was almost out of money (had spent most of the $15K) before time for the tournament--(Jun. 1?).

I agree, and because of that he was desperate for more. We all know he is a terrible gambler, case in point this last gamble that he took, so he knew he couldn't win any money. Having observed Stephany and her winnings, he needed to find a way to get that money from her. When the drugs didn't work the way he expected them too, he flew into a violent rage and stomped this woman to death, only caring about his own gratification. After all, he had gotten away with murder before, and in his mind, it was justified. ' I didn't get my way, so I took care of it.'
The pictures we see of him today reflect a over grown kid who finally realized nobody is going to bail his sorry a$$ out this time. Those who already defend him are already losers to begin with, so they can take their monopoly money and try to buy a clue, because that is as far as it will get them
It's over, Joran, and you can thank your parents, the corrupt people of Aruba, and a loving God for your demise. May you never smile again.

You have to give Joran credit. He found a way to travel extensively without it costing him a dime.

Well, LMAO!!! Now that's an appropriate response from Aruba, huh?

How about a public statement admitting that the island is officially closed to tourists because Stephany's blood on the island is flowing in the streets!

What Joran van der Sloot can expect from Peruvian police
By Lucien Chauvin Lucien Chauvin Fri Jun 4, 8:12 am ET

Lima, Peru – Peruvian police officers are itching for the opportunity to grill Joran van der Sloot, a Dutchman accused of murdering a young woman here earlier this week.

Mr. van der Sloot was detained by Chilean police Thursday, a day after the body of 21-year-old Stephany Flores was discovered in a hotel room in Lima.

Police investigators have determined that Ms. Flores, a university student, and van der Sloot, who is 23, met last weekend at a casino. Police have film footage from the Atlantic City Casino in Lima showing the couple leaving together. Police say that Ms. Flores was killed in the early morning hours of May 30; van der Sloot entered Chile the following day at a overland border crossing.

This is the second time van der Sloot has been implicated in a high-profile murder case – with both happening, eerily, on the same day five years apart. He was arrested, but released twice, for the May 30, 2005 murder of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway on the island of Aruba. Her body was never located.

Peru’s police claim that while evidence was sparse in the Holloway case, the same is not true for the crime here.

Evidence of a struggleInvestigators say Flores’s body showed obvious signs of struggle and has provided evidence. There is also the casino video – van der Sloot was in Peru for a poker tournament – and the fact that he rented the room in the Hotel Tac where the murder took place. While unable to provide details, Peruvian police General Cesar Guardia said there was “ample evidence implicating the suspect in this murder.”

Peru’s Interior Ministry has asked Chilean authorities to transport van der Sloot to the border and that he be deported to Peru. Sources in the police department said officers from the National Criminal Investigation Unit were dispatched to the border on Thursday night. They expect van der Sloot to be transferred back to Lima this weekend, at the latest.

The murder of the Peruvian college student has touched the National Police in a particular way. Ricardo Flores, the young woman’s father, is president of the civic committee that supports the police’s internal affairs division. “He is a great man who has always been loyal to the police. We have no doubts that we will solve this case,” says one officer who has worked with Mr. Flores on events organized to help officers in need.

Victim's father is well-know figureFlores is also a well-known figure in other Peruvian circles. He is a former race car driver, event promoter, entrepreneur, and occasional politician. He has run for local, legislative, and national office, but has never been elected. He was also implicated, like thousands of other businesspeople and politicians in Peru, in the corruption web that brought down former president Alberto Fujimori’s regime (1990-2000) nearly 10 years ago.

Once back in Peru, van der Sloot will be held for an initial 24-hour arrest warrant. The police can then request that the judge assigned to the case extend the detention for seven to 14 days to further the investigation. The judge will determine whether to keep the suspect behind bars or release him while he awaits trial. The investigative police say van der Sloot is unlikely to be let out on bail.

There was also a new twist in the five-year-old Holloway case as events were unfolding in Peru and Chile. The US Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama charged Van der Sloot with fraud as he was being arrested in Chile. The Associated Press reported that the charges relate to him having offered information on the Holloway case in exchange for $250,000.

Yes, that is too bad.  Well, I was curious whether their practices included waterboarding, or sensory deprivation and isolation.  Loud music might not be the way to go.

I'd like to add a hug THANK YOU to Red, Klass, and all the others who kept the site alive so that we could be here to watch the happenings.

VAN DER SLOOT HUNG OUT TO DRY BY EX DEFENSE LAWYER

Dual murder suspect JORAN van der SLOOT who is the prime suspect in the disappearance of NATALEE HOLLOWAY and the murder of a Peruvian woman has gone "down a very disturbing path" his former lawyer reveals.

RadarOnline.com reports that top criminal defense attorney Joe Tacopina - who repped the Dutch national in the Natalee Holloway case - won't take him on as a client again.

"At this stage I wouldn't agree to be his attorney because the Joran of today has gone down a very disturbing path in life," he said.

"I met and knew Joran four and a half years ago and he was overwhelmed by the media. The kid I knew back then would not have committed an act of violence. (BS)

"The only reason I got involved in the case is because we did a two month investigation and believed he had no involvement in the murder or disappearance in Aruba.

"However his behavior over the last two and a half years has made me believe he is not the same person I knew."

As The ENQUIRER exclusively reported, van der Sloot was first accused, and then arrested in Chile following an international manhunt, on suspicion of Stephany Flores' murder, after her slashed and bloody corpse was found in his hotel room in Lima, Peru.

"If he is guilty of this crime it would rightly turn the first case (Holloway) on its face, but that doesn't change the evidence."

What an ASSWIPE

Sounds to me like that powerful 'organization' has decided to 'wipe their hands' of the sporter

It keeps getting better and better.

Wonder how this will effect Sebastian in college?

Valentijn attends Emerson College in Boston (I'm thinking he'll be a senior, but I'm not positive about that).  I'm pretty sure Sebastian will be a sophomore at the International School of Aruba.

I don't know if this will change anything for Valentijn, if he goes back to Emerson (Boston) in the fall.  With his large group of friends, and the many repeat visitors to Aruba from that area he's never seemed to have any problems from his brother's status in the past.  I guess time will tell.

He'll be held on a 24 hr warrent and then a judge will rule to keep him longer. He'll go through the motions of being in court so the judge can decide to release him on bail or not. No one expects he'll get bail.
