I see Joran's wearing white sport type shoes.  I hope LE checks those out closely.  Come to think of it, LE will probably check out not only his shoes, but all of his clothing for blood spatter and DNA.  And hopefully, they'll look over every inch of him (yuck, the thought), for any scratches and photograph to document.  These are things routinely done in an investigation, but after Aruba, I'm a bit leery about this sort of thing. (like blood turning into chocolate and etc.)  There are many that will be watching.
You know he had enough time to get all new things and toss out the ones with blood. He's good at this he's done this before.

After his arrival in the 'Heroic City', it is expected the transfer to Lima to be put into the hands of justice, accused of the murder of the young Stephany Flores.

Joran van der Sloot asked to notify his mother of his capture
The request was made to representatives of the Consulate of the Netherlands who visited him during his detention in Chile

The Dutchman Joran van der Sloot (23) asked the two representatives of the Netherlands Consulate in Santiago, who visited him during his detention in Chile, he warned his mother of his capture in that country and their subsequent deportation to Peru.

This was pointed out to Emol Chilean police sources, the same that detailed the alien spent the night in a dungeon and guarded at all times by staff of the Investigative Police of Chile.

The sub-prefect Fernando Ovalle, head (s) Aliens of the PDI, revealed that the man was taken to Viña del Mar, where he spent Wednesday night in order to seize their clothes and electronic species, but the coach was frustrated because Dutchman forgot the address where he slept.

At this time Van der Sloot is in the station of La Concordia, in Tacna, where it will be moved to Lima.

JOINT OPERATION: US FBI AND ALE? DOUBT IT.

"THIS WAS A JOINT OPERATION [FBI AND ARUBA] CAREFULLY PLANNED AND EXECUTED."

Interesting.

ALE had numerous previous opportunities to do their own video and taping of suspects.  They failed each and every time to gain even an iota of admissible evidence.

In fact, many of these tape transcripts related to Natalee are posted right here on SM.  I recall Polis Captain van der Stratten's laughable attempts to extract information and confession from the goon, as well as Dennis Jacobs imbecilic efforts to do more of the same.  Their interrogation and questioning methods wouldn't pass muster in any American household where mom questions 8 yr old about a poor grade.  Let alone a murder investigation.

Cooperation?  I doubt it.  I even recall "unofficial" reports that ALE actually stonewalled the FBI during important points during the Natalee investigation.

I think the US FBI had the goods because of their groundwork, taping and the crime itself was set in motion via the Alabama bank, as well as the phone calls to/from the US.  The FBI therefore had the leverage.  I think they TOLD the ALE exactly what they were going to do and how and when.

This "cooperation" prattle is the polite talk a bunch of pros offer to a bunch of rookies.

Let's pray that there is concrete evidence with his DNA cuz I gotta feeling he's been planning his defense - that someone else came in the room and murdered the girl after he left.

Dutchman Van der Sloot Joran entering an office at the airport Chacalluta aronáutica. for a check ...

I vote for a cavity check Wink

I am almost positive that Joran would have been covered under a dental plan provided for all wannabe judges.  Joran probably had a check up every six months and ... any cavities were taken care of immediately.

Where is that "tongue" icon!!

Janet

I think she meant "cavity" as in "opening" as in "strip search".  God love your heart, Janet.  I really mean that.

What Joran van der Sloot can expect from Peruvian police

Peruvian police say they expect Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the murder of a Peruvian college student, to be in their custody by this weekend. The victim's father, Ricardo Flores, is a businessman with close ties to the Peruvian police.

Chile's investigative police detain Dutch citizen Joran van der Sloot, after he was located in a neighborhood in Santiago, Thursday.

Peruvian police officers are itching for the opportunity to grill Joran van der Sloot, a Dutchman accused of murdering a young woman here earlier this week.

The Natalee Holloway case in Aruba

Mr. van der Sloot was detained by Chilean police Thursday, a day after the body of 21-year-old Stephany Flores was discovered in a hotel room in Lima.

Police investigators have determined that Ms. Flores, a university student, and van der Sloot, who is 23, met last weekend at a casino. Police have film footage from the Atlantic City Casino in Lima showing the couple leaving together. Police say that Ms. Flores was killed in the early morning hours of May 30; van der Sloot entered Chile the following day at a overland border crossing.

This is the second time van der Sloot has been implicated in a high-profile murder case – with both happening, eerily, on the same day five years apart. He was arrested, but released twice, for the May 30, 2005, murder of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway on the island of Aruba. Her body was never located.

Peru’s police claim that while evidence was sparse in the Holloway case, the same is not true for the crime here.
Evidence of a struggle

Investigators say Flores’s body showed obvious signs of struggle and has provided evidence. There is also the casino video – van der Sloot was in Peru for a poker tournament – and the fact that he rented the room in the Hotel Tac where the murder took place. While unable to provide details, Peruvian police General Cesar Guardia said there was “ample evidence implicating the suspect in this murder.”

Peru’s Interior Ministry has asked Chilean authorities to transport van der Sloot to the border and that he be deported to Peru. Sources in the police department said officers from the National Criminal Investigation Unit were dispatched to the border on Thursday night. They expect van der Sloot to be transferred back to Lima this weekend, at the latest.

The murder of the Peruvian college student has touched the National Police in a particular way. Ricardo Flores, the young woman’s father, is president of the civic committee that supports the police’s internal affairs division. “He is a great man who has always been loyal to the police. We have no doubts that we will solve this case,” says one officer who has worked with Mr. Flores on events organized to help officers in need.
Victim's father is well-know figure

Flores is also a well-known figure in other Peruvian circles. He is a former race car driver, event promoter, entrepreneur, and occasional politician. He has run for local, legislative, and national office, but has never been elected. He was also implicated, like thousands of other businesspeople and politicians in Peru, in the corruption web that brought down former president Alberto Fujimori’s regime (1990-2000) nearly 10 years ago.

Once back in Peru, van der Sloot will be held for an initial 24-hour arrest warrant. The police can then request that the judge assigned to the case extend the detention for seven to 14 days to further the investigation. The judge will determine whether to keep the suspect behind bars or release him while he awaits trial. The investigative police say van der Sloot is unlikely to be let out on bail.

There was also a new twist in the five-year-old Holloway case as events were unfolding in Peru and Chile. The US attorney for the northern district of Alabama charged van der Sloot with fraud as he was being arrested in Chile. The Associated Press reported that the charges relate to him having offered information on the Holloway case in exchange for $250,000.

Joran Van der Sloot is moved towards the city of Tacna

The citizen Dutchman left the station with a strong Concord police custody. Then he is scheduled to move to Lima, according to the RPR correspondent in the area.

The citizen Joran van der Sloot Dutchman left the Concord station, on the border with Chile, headed for the city of Tacna, reported RPP correspondent in the area. The transfer has a strong police custody.

After his arrival in the 'Heroic City', it is expected the transfer to Lima to be put into the hands of justice, accused of the murder of the young Stephany Flores, said Col. Manuel Malaver, Peruvian Interpol chief.

Malaver For security reasons declined to specify whether the Dutchman will be moved to the capital by air or road. "For obvious reasons I can not say," he said, after stating that Van der Sloot has a preliminary warrant issued by the Peruvian justice.

If Van der Sloot is transported by aircraft will arrive in Lima at 23:00 pm (0400 GMT Saturday), but if it moves by road the trip takes an average of 18 hours as Tacna is 1348 kilometers south of the country.

It should be noted that a group of settlers arrived in Tacna near the police station to protest against the Dutchman, who repudiated his alleged crimes.
