Osborne to replace Serious Fraud Office with super-agency

British businesses could be scrutinised by a "super detective" with the combined powers of a swathe of economic crimebusters including the Serious Fraud Office and Financial Services Authority under radical plans by the Conservative Party.

The shadow Chancellor argued that a big problem with the system is that "no-one knows who's in charge." He said: "The Economic Crime Agency will bring together the powers of the SFO, Revenue and Customs, the Office of Fair Trading, so we have a really strong powerful fraud busting economic crime agency."
