Jossy regarding Jamie Skeeters - it was quite a shock and he will miss him.

Regarding Oduber and Abramoff:

Normally, Holland does all the negotiations for Aruba.  Oduber should not have been doing lobby work for Aruba, the Netherlands should have.  

Oduber contacted through Abramoff through Abramoff's employer.  Oduber very well aware of Abramoff's troubles.  Oduber spent alot of money that could have been spent on tourism, or pay polis..etc.

Jossy thinks the money paid to Abramoff was simply to promote Oduber.

Now that KJ has left - who is the new prosecutor?

Jossy says:
They have one person that came down durring the summer, but they haven't heard anything officially.  There are other prosecutors in the department in Aruba.  The problem with KJ was political.  Jossy sorry to see her leave.  

KJ will be working as a prosecutor in Amsterdam.

How has foreign investment in Aruba been affected.  

Jossy says that investment at a standstill.  Also the economy at a standstill.

I've always thought the reference to gold bricks meant wealthy, as in gold bricks like those stored at Ft Knox.

01/26/2006 - Diario reports the death of Maria Petrochti, 66. She was found in the water in a rocky area, Alto Vista, north coast. Apparently the body was difficult to access and retrieve. A taxi is mentioned.

Sandy Leiva - If you pop in - see if you can get anything more from this. I hope a 66-yr-old woman has not met with foul play.

Family has been searching for missing woman found todayThis morning when Donny Dall went to the news stand and saw the headlines and the picture (diario calls it a portrait ) of the missing woman he recognises, and was surprised to see.

He is a taxi driver and explains to the family of the victem that he gave her a ride to Alto Vista she paid for her ride and said her family would pick her up later.  He thought nothing unusual of it.

This information gave an area of search by helicopter to the police and to the red cross- they commenced to investigate up and sown the coastline in the north area. Family also went to the north area to search.

This was also reported by radio station 90 FM, who put plea out to the taxi driver to call in and give his version of finding the woman.

Many people went to the Alto Vista shore area to say a prayer.  People who knew her did not believe she had any problems.(or knew of any problems)

The Diario had put together a team to cover this case and spent 7 or more hours on it and now to its finality.

The helicopter after going up and down the coast did not find anything, another pass with the camera on the helicopter spotted something strange and communicated same to ground crews using walkie talkies.  Helicopter personnel reported something half bent over in the water near an outcrop of rock, hitting the rock as the waves came in and out.  The polis were dispatched to that area immediatly.

Na famia di e fayecida, DIARIO ta extende su mas profundo palabra di condolencia.

Meanwhile family arrived at the site and I was with great sadness the family identified the remains, there was no consoling the family.  Maria Petruchi age 66 yrs born August 1944 had lived in Shiribana area of the Paraderaa section of Noord.  condolences to the family from Diario staff.
