Actually, our local newspaper will sometimes say things to that effect. I think it's because some people in our area seem a bit thin-skinned and easily upset, and the newspaper tries to avoid conflict with those readers.

My home page is Yahoo Canada.  I sent them an email stating that I would change my home page if they continued to post the Pickton trial as the featured story with the lurid headlines.  This is not the first thing I want to read about in the morning (or ever). I want to have a choice whether I read about this pig farmer/butcher who managed to torture/kill 49 human beings before the police stumbled upon the evidence.  We will see what they do.  I am also annoyed that they insist on labeling the victims as drug addicted prostitutes when the word "women" would be a better choice.  I don't think people need to be defamed after they are dead.

I agree.
I feel the same way about the way the Atlantic City women who were murdered are also portrayed as Known Drug Users and Prostitutes...

Can't find much more info on how that investigation is going...

Very sad.

I remember watching a TV program about one of the young women whose parents, particularly her mom searched for her.  I recall the mother had traveled from the US to Canada looking for her troubled daughter.  If I am not mistaken, the mother spoke to someone in that area that hinted at the pig farm....I cannot remember the victim's name, but I'm thinking she was found with the others.  I'd have to do some research to find it.

Leslie, I totally understand what you are saying, and Jacquie, as well, with the Atlantic City murders.
