OK ..I admit it I am completely confused. Why would Tommy receive a shorter sentence than Hope or the Equusearch lady? His plea was the same..no contest and I don't remember a plea agreement.
Who said that Tommy is getting a shorter sentence than Hope or Donna?
[/quote

Tommy's trafficking charge was for a very low amount of drugs (4 gms, IIRC). The minimum on that is 3 years. All the others had multiple charges and/or many more pills.

Croslin hearing on jail interrogation cancelled
Posted: July 12, 2010 - 4:25pm

By Dana Treen

A hearing to request that investigators not question Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr. without his attorney present has been cancelled after the Putnam County Sheriff's Office agreed not to do so again.

Croslin is the brother of Misty Croslin, who was watching 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings before she disappeared from home in Satsuma in February 2009. He is in jail awaiting sentencing on a drug trafficking charge unrelated to the missing girl, who has not been found.

In a motion June 28, attorney James Werter said Croslin, 23, was taken from his cell, interrogated and threatened he would be charged with murder regarding Haleigh if he did not cooperate.

A hearing on the motion was scheduled for Friday.

Today, Chief Deputy Rick Ryan said the agency agreed not to question Croslin without notifying Werter. He said he would not comment on specifics in Werter's motion.

"We're not going to knowingly violate anybody's rights," Ryan said. Any indications that officers had acted improperly would have resulted in an internal investigation, he said.

Werter said he requested the hearing be dropped after investigators agreed not to talk to Croslin without him present.

Judge Rules Against Croslin's Motion

Croslin Claimed Detectives Threatened Him

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- A Putnam County judge has ruled against Hank Croslin Jr., who claimed detectives threatened him and treated him poorly in jail.

Croslin is the brother of Misty Cummings, the last person known to have seen 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings before she disappeared last year.

Croslin's motion claimed detectives threatened to charge him with Haleigh's murder if he didn't cooperate. As a result, he wanted to be moved out of the Putnam County Jail.

But the judge dismissed the motion, saying Croslin is not being harassed by detectives and they have every right to question him about Haleigh's disappearance.

Croslin is set to be sentenced on drug charges Aug. 2.

I wonder how pudgey  she is, now that it is a month+ later.  She must love prison food, that is if she isn't getting money for eating goodies from her parents.  Looks like the drugs keep her slim.

Judicial panel to question hopefuls

By Kristin Chambers
Published: Thursday, July 15, 2010 12:41 AM EDT
Potential replacements for Circuit Judge Edward Hedstrom may be selected today by the Judicial Nominating Commission following interviews of 19 applicants in Palatka.

The commission's deadline is Monday. However, chairman William Voges said he anticipated the work to be complete tonight.

"Our plan will be to begin deliberations the minute we finish interviews, and our past process has been to come to a conclusion and get a letter to the governor the day that we do the interviews," he told the Daily News on Wednesday.

"If we need for time or more information we would roll into Friday, but in the past the commission has preferred to stay and deliberate while we are there and all the information is fresh in front of us."

The interviews are open to the public. The sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. in the old county commission meeting room at 107 N. Sixth St.

Hedstrom, who has presided over high-profile murder trials, announced his retirement in early May. He will leave the bench Oct. 1.

Though his term ends in 2014, judges must retire before their 70th birthday unless they have served over half their term. Because Hedstrom's 70th birthday will come before the halfway point in his current term, he faces mandatory retirement.

His replacement will be chosen by the governor from the list assembled by the nominating commission.

In addition to the majority of defense attorneys and prosecutors, two current county judges are vying to become circuit judges.

Applicants must have been members of the Florida Bar for the preceding five years, registered voters and must be residents of the territorial jurisdiction of the court office.

Voges said the nine nominating commission members spoke to about 300 references prior to today's interviews.

"In general, we look at a number of factors starting with legal ability, temperament, demeanor, community experience and life experiences," he said.

The commissioners also will review background checks and other information.

"They call attorneys that have appeared on the other side of cases and other members of the legal community, and the chair usually reviews the list of applicants with anywhere from six to 12 of the city or county court judges within the circuit," Voges said.

"It gives you a good impression of what the candidates are like in the courtroom setting and how they handle themselves in front of the court and clients."

Additional input comes from calls from the community, letters of recommendation and a writing sample, Voges said.

"The interviews will be geared toward giving the applicant the opportunity to tell us about their interests in the bench and judgeship and why they are qualified," he said.

Voges said he expected the panel's choices to be announced Friday.

Those to be interviewed include:

n Christopher France, assistant state attorney, of Palatka.

n Joe Boatwright, assistant state attorney, of Palatka.

n Garry L. Wood, attorney, of Palatka.

n Terrill L. Hill, attorney, of Palatka.

n Donald E. Holmes, attorney, of Palatka.

n Elizabeth A. Morris, county judge, of Crescent City.

n R. Mitchell Prugh, attorney, of Melrose.

n John W. Stephenson, attorney, of Palatka.

n John A. Wethington III, assistant state attorney, of Putnam County.

n Steven C. Henderson, attorney, of Volusia County.

n Gerard F. Keating, attorney, of Daytona Beach.

n Mitchel Novas, attorney, of Daytona Beach.

n John M. Selden, division chief for west Volusia County.

n Clifford A. Taylor, attorney, of Tallahassee.

n Alfred Washington Jr., attorney, of Daytona Beach.

n Michael B. Wingo, attorney, of Deland.

n Patti A. Christensen, county judge, of St. Johns County.

n Sheron Feliciano, attorney, of Flagler County.

n Eric K. Neitzke, attorney, of Daytona Beach.

Cobra Victim Of Good Old Boys Network?

At the time I told Cobra that he was insane! He needed someone outside of the closed loop. Of course it is easier to herd cats than get Cobra to change his mind on almost anything!

Don Holmes comes well recommended, Don Holmes will do me right

It was not very long before the attitude had changed. The love affair was over, however Cobra still had high hopes that Don Holmes would come through.

Haleigh Cummings Search – A Comment From FDLE

Posted on July 15th, 2010
by Simon Barrett in crime

I was talking to my good friend TJ Hart of The Sky 97.3 yesterday, while he was out covering another news story he happened to bump into Dominic Pape of the FDLE. Dominic Pape is one of the FDLE resources working on the Haleigh Cummings case.

While there was little new to be learned from this brief encounter, it does show that the case is still a very active one. We can only hope that at some point soon some answers will start to emerge, and charges will be placed on those guilty.

Cindy Anthony testifies about "dead body" smell

Orlando, FL - A Florida judge has ruled that 911 calls made by Cindy Anthony about her missing grandaughter are admissible at Casey Anthony's murder trial next year.
Cindy Anthony testified Thursday she told a 911 operator there was a "dead body" smell in her daughter's car in an attempt to get police to respond faster to her call.  Casey Anthony's brother, Lee, also testified at the hearing
