ORLANDO -- Casey Anthony fell on the way to court, and it was all caught on tape.

It happened Tuesday inside an Orange County courthouse elevator.

Anthony got tangled up in her shackles and fell forward onto the elevator floor.

Anthony was on her way to a court hearing where Chief Judge Belvin Perry ruled she will still face the death penalty.

Anthony didn't make it to the hearing.  She was treated for her injuries, which jail officials said were minor.
 
She was back in the Orange County Jail by 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Kind of wondering if this was a stunt pulled by Casey to prove to the world that she is <ahem> 'too delicate' to walk safely in shackles, sooooo she just couldn't possibly have killed her own daughter.  ??  Seems the defense has pulled everything else possible, why not this? 

On the other hand... it's very possible that the guards are doing their jobs, not being 'distracted' by Casey, (who is very likely po'd that she cannot turn their heads), so she plays the 'frail maiden'.  The one who needs the big, strong guard to please extend his arm and help the lil thang.  In Casey mind, it might just be a way to get a guard to actually touch her.  Then she can build her fantasies around that. 

Ick ick ick!  I gotta get outta Casey's head, it's skeeeeeery in there!

The fall happened so fast, Casey’s law enforcement escorts were not able to break her fall. After checking Casey over, her escorts pulled her legs out of the way and shut the elevator doors. She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries and missed her hearing. The jail is investigating Casey's fall. Officials expect to finish the inquiry in a couple of days.

Casey didn't want to go to court in the first place. During her last hearing, Judge Belvin Perry denied her request to not appear at future hearings.

While in court Tuesday, Perry shot down five of the six motions her defense team argued.

WHAT'S NEXT IN THE CASE?
Casey will not have to attend the next court hearing in the case. There's a status hearing set for June 21; Casey is no longer required to appear at status hearings. Meanwhile, prosecutors are also expected to release more evidence in the case in the coming weeks.

Hi everybody.  I am not a frequent poster, but have been a member for a long time, and I was watching today's court hearings, and I had a question and thought somebody here would know the answer.

While watching the judge deny motions, he and the attorneys frequently mention decisions made on certain cases.  They seem to have a running memory of every single case ever decided on and can call it up in a second.  How do they get that info, specially the judge, as he is sitting listenting to the arguments, is he typing something into a computer and somebody on other side of computer is pulling up cases that have to do with what he is ruling on? 

Oh, also you guys had me laughing my hiney off before watching those wonderful pics of, ESPECIALY THE TOOTH ONE AND THE PENGUIN ONE.  I so wish I was there to laugh my arse off while she was down on the floor crying.   

I love this judge and all his denials.  OMG, they need to be slapped, how many motions can they file and how many times can they refile the same dang motion?  How does any case ever get finished if they can keep refiling motion after motion after motion.  I cannot stand it.  There has to be an point where there is no more times that they can file that motion. 


They all need t-shirts that say Waaaahhhhhhhh on them.  Biggest babies ever this duh-fense team.

Hi ZooMom. Great to see you posting! I think Judge Perry does his homework before coming to court. He may have assistants helping him look up case law, on the other hand, he could be more of a brainiac than he even appears, being chief judge and all, and looks up this stuff himself. That's what I think anyway. I think he's too much of a stickler to just take an assistant's word for it. He did mention that he'd been checking for precedents the night before.
That's why he wants the attorney's motions and responses in front of him well in advance.

Thanks.  I figured he looked stuff up on is own time, but he seems to have a very good memory.  Awesome no-nonsense judge.  I think George is not there because don't they have issues with other races, the A's I mean?  I seem to remember reading soemthing about spanish people anyway. 

I gotta say, that one attorney on Duhfense's side, not Bozo, the other one, the big tallk furry one, sounds like an imbecile when he is arguing his case.  "I want that transcript."  All that was missing was him jumping up and down stamping his feet or holding his breath.

Zoo, my past experience as a paralegal -- each side "should" be prepared to offer cases not mentioned in the motions or the answers to the motions, or have a rebuttal was to why the cases cited do not apply.  Judge Perry already had at his fingertips the case law which applied for the various motions.  He does his homework because he doesn't want the lawyers citing cases he has not already read and determined if they apply.  Saw him reading a case yesterday offered by the dufense and it did not apply and he gently told them why.  The one motion he did not rule on was regarding the visitors log.  Unfortunately, the lawyer for the county was not up to speed on the visitor log procedure.  What is public information is the name of the visitor, the date and time of arrival, date and time of departure, and what title they may have, ie lawyer.  In most states, the inmate must have a person registered on their visitors list, but that may not be the case in FL.  Everyone leaves their driver's license at the "gate" and you retrieve it when you leave.  Unfortunately, the county lawyer was not up to speed, but no worries, Judge Perry will find out for himself and rule accordingly.  IMO they will lose this motion as well.  It is not protected IMO.
Hi Sunny, yes, the Judge is wonderful.  He is very smart and will not be fooled by the ole country boy attitude or the whiny noise of someone who doesn't have a clue why they are citing a case.  Bozo couldn't find the case law if someone underlined it for him.

I know I have seen the visitor logs posted somewhere and from my memory what I remember being on them was name, time, date, and really that was it, as far as I remember.  I don't remember them saying who that person is, and remember reading a log and wondering who the people were that were not obvious family members. 

I don't particularly care which way he rules on this issue, but I think he will deny it.  How can they do this for 1 inmate and not all of them?  They think Casey is special or something, and am just holding my breath waiting for the motion to not have CA have to wear shackles.
