I think Wisconsin must be one of the few states with anonymous voting.

Give any name, and as long as it's on the 'list' go vote.  Nobody checks your ID.

Wis. board votes to outlaw voluntary voter ID

Wisconsin elections officials on Monday quashed a citizen movement that encouraged voters to voluntarily show photo identifications before casting their ballots.

The Government Accountability Board voted to outlaw the practice, which the board's staff said could confuse, intimidate and offend voters who object to showing a photo identification to exercise their right to vote.

"This could result in a greater disruption of the polls on Election Day," a memo prepared by staff lawyer Shane Falk said.

The campaign by a group of women from Milwaukee and Waukesha counties urged citizens to tell their municipal clerks to require them to show a driver's license or other photo ID to vote. Supporters argued the requirement would protect their vote by making sure others did not cast ballots under their identities.

Where are the honest elections in this state?

You need an ID to pick your kid up at school, to cash a check, to return something to the dollar store...

In Wisconsin, no one checks your ID when you register, or vote.

What happened to honest elections?

from the pp article, apparently some do vote with others names -

Inspired to act after a Waukesha County man was told someone voted under his name, the activists started the "We're Watching Wisconsin Elections Campaign." They urged citizens to have clerks add an "ID REQUIRED" notation next to their names in the statewide voter registration database, and distributed forms to encourage the step.

Board member Gordon Myse said Wisconsin did not have a law that authorizes voluntary voter identification, and the board cannot allow the practice on its own. Gov. Jim Doyle has vetoed measures that would require mandatory voter ID, and a Republican-backed bill that would authorize the voluntary practice died during the recent legislative session.

The board also adopted a policy on how allegations of voter identity theft are to be handled by poll workers.

Such allegations are rare, but Falk said two cases at separate Green Bay polling places happened during last month's election and police were unable to find the alleged offenders.

Under the policy, poll workers are to check to make sure they did not mistakenly record someone as having voted when they did not. If no error is discovered, the voter will cast a challenged ballot that will be counted but marked for further investigation in the event of a contested election. Police are to be informed so they can start an investigation.

Maybe we need to fingerprint folks when they vote?

Hmmm...vote and no one checks your ID, no one takes your picture...how do you investigate or prevent vote fraud?
