ROBINSON (May 24, 2010)-Robinson police confirmed Monday that they arrested a longtime local martial arts instructor in a case involving the alleged sexual assault of a child.

Danny Passmore, 54, was in the McLennan County Jail Monday in lieu of $250,000 bond.

He’s charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child in incidents involving a young karate student.

The investigation that led to Passmore’s arrest started after a counselor at Waco’s Klaras Children’s Center told an investigator that one of his clients “had made an outcry to him in regards to a sexual assault,” according to the affidavit submitted for the arrest warrant.

Later, during a forensic interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the affidavit said, the boy described an incident that occurred on April 20 “and numerous other occasions” that involved a game in which Passmore pulled on and squeezed the boy’s genitals, the affidavit said.

“The victim stated that this always occurred at Passmore’s residence and on each of these occasions the victim stated that Passmore would place a stick inside the victim’s anus,” the affidavit said.

A medical exam turned up evidence of trauma in the boy’s anus that was consistent with penetration, the affidavit said.

Robinson’s police chief told News 10 Passmore was arrested at his self-defense school late last week at 425 N. Robinson Dr., but wouldn’t elaborate on details of the arrest or on the investigation, which he said is ongoing.

He did say, however, there may be more than one victim.

Online listings show that Passmore also operated a school at 463 Dal Paso Dr. in Robinson.

Passmore, who holds a 9th Degree Black Belt in American Street Karate, founded the Texas Martial Arts Hall of Fame and said in a Web posting his “greatest love is serving Jesus.”

He’s also the founder of the nonprofit organization Nice Ninjas that combines self-defense and character building programs.

According to his Website, he has been honored by mayoral proclamation in Waco, Galveston and Hewitt.
