Reception and Medical Center (RMC)

Historical Information: This facility was established in 1968 to house male inmates. Originally named the Reception and Medical Center, the primary functions are to process newly committed male inmates into the state correctional system and to provide primary medical care to inmates within the state system. There are two other units located at this facility (The RMC-West Unit and the RMC Hospital). The RMC-West Unit  has a capacity of 999 inmates. The RMC Hospital is a licensed 120 bed hospital for acute care. RMC also maintains a 28 bed unit at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. RMC Work Camp was established in November 2006 to house male offenders. It is under the supervision of RMC-Main Unit, and is one of several units involved in filling the primary mission of RMC along with RMC-West Unit and RMC Hospital.  RMC Work Camp has a maximum capacity of 432, with a staff of 78 (this number is included in the Total Staff listed below).

Surviving Prison 101

Also I would suggest that you shave your head. This will be done for you once you’re in, and a fresh shaved head while forced to stand in the yard all day in the sun… Yeah, burned scalp sucks, and hats are hard to come by.

Florida's minimum mandatory laws produce uneven sentences

When 19-year-old Hope Sykes was sentenced in April to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking, she looked stunned. Then she cried.

The Satsuma teenager had pleaded no contest to selling 25 hydrocodone pills to an undercover officer. Her co-defendants -- including her cousin Ronald Cummings, the father of missing Putnam County girl Haleigh Cummings -- also face terms of at least 15 years under Florida's minimum mandatory drug sentences.

Among the toughest minimum mandatory laws in the nation, Florida mandates strict prison terms -- with no time off for good behavior -- for convictions of drug dealing, use of a gun during a crime and sex crimes involving children.

tommy looks a little worn... maybe knowing that he is doing 15 yrs no matter what will lead him down the path of rehabilitation... wouldn't be surprised if he goes bad ass for  a while and then does it or if he just hops on the god train right away... i think he is going to be the one who takes the time the hardest... i know he is an idiot and doesn't listen to the voice but i feel like for some reason he is the one with the conscience... maybe not yet and maybe not ever but i think eventually tommy will crack and tell what he knows if anything...

I snipped this from an article Simon posted on his site .....

Today was a potential pivit point in the Haleigh Cummings case. The ‘drop dead’ date for babysitter/lover/wife/ex-wife/dope dealer Misty Croslin to enter a plea deal. Has she done it? We don’t know. The sentences handed down so far in the drug case have been brutal.

I am going to go back and read again, but I was sure earlier that I read that Misty's case is ready for TRIAL on August 23 .....

Ron's PRE TRIAL is set for August 20th .... so another waiting game appears to me.

Misty Croslin Scheduled For Hearing On Drug Charges

Croslin Last Known Person To See Missing Girl Haleigh Cummings

POSTED: 6:33 am EDT August 16, 2010
UPDATED: 6:44 am EDT August 16, 2010

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. --
The drug investigation into the family of a local missing child continues with a court hearing Monday morning.

Misty Croslin is scheduled for a hearing in Putnam County on drug trafficking charges.

Croslin was the last known person seen with Haleigh Cummings before the child vanished in February of last year.

Misty's brother, Tommy, was sentenced to 15 years behind bars last week on similar charges.

Heart - I check this topic every day, and appreciate your constant updates.

I read somewhere that Misty entered a "No Contest" plea this a.m. - same as everyone else so far.

Also, that her attorney may try for "Youthful Offender" at sentencing, which could get her 6 years instead of 15. However, she has charges in two jurisdictions (Putnam & St Johns?) and YO can only be used once ... and that her "No Contest" plea may screw up Ron's offer to testify/plea deal ...

I think I saw this in a Comments section discussing Casey Anthony; sorry I don't have a link.

Misty Croslin pleads no contest in drug case
Posted on Monday, 08.16.10
he Associated Press

PALATKA, Fla. -- The woman at home with a Florida girl the night she went missing has pleaded no contest to unrelated drug trafficking charges.

Misty Croslin could be sentenced up to 25 years in prison.

The 18-year-old woman was arrested in January following an undercover operation that resulted in five arrests.

She pleaded no contest Monday to charges of trafficking in prescription drugs in Putnam County. She faces similar charges in St. Johns County, where a hearing is set Tuesday. Assistant State Attorney Jason Lewis expects a similar plea change in that case.

Croslin was watching Haleigh Cummings the night the 5-year-old disappeared in February 2009.

Haleigh's father also was charged in the same undercover sting earlier this year and has tentatively agreed to a 15-year sentence.

Misty Croslin pleads no contest in drug case

So, it looks like Miss Misty is going to get sentenced to mucho years soon!  Wish we had a tape of this...

Uh-oh...WHAT does this do to Ron's plea deal in the works to testify against Misty?

Has Misty pulled a fast one on Ron?

Does this mean that Ron will not be getting a reduced sentence?

Thanks msmarple and trim for the info, articles, and links.  I was too busy today to get around to posting.  Okay next up is RC

Croslin entered no contest pleas to seven counts of trafficking prescription drugs before a Putnam County, Florida, judge, said Chris Kelly, a spokesman for the state attorney's office. Each first-degree count carries a sentence of up to 30 years in prison.

Croslin has a St. John's County court appearance Tuesday on a single trafficking charge. All the counts stem from a series of incidents between around January of this year, during which Croslin allegedly sold hydrocodone to undercover officers.

Calls to Croslin's attorney, Robert Fields, were not immediately returned Monday. Kelly said that in terms of sentencing, there's no distinction between pleading no contest to a felony and pleading guilty.

18 year old Misty Croslin has pleaded no contest to trafficking prescription drugs in Putnam County Court today.
That plea means Croslin could face more than 2 hundred years behind bars on all seven counts against her. Misty Croslin was the last known person to see Haleigh Cummings before she disappeared from her Satsuma home last February. The little girl has not been seen since. Nearly every member of Croslin's family is also in jail on various drug charges. Croslin also faces drug charges in Saint John's County and is due to enter a plea there tomorrow. Misty Croslin will have a sentencing hearing in Putnam County October 19th. Her attorney plans to ask that she be sentenced as a youthful offender which could reduce her sentence to about 6 years in prison.
