From what I read, Joran had rented a room in the coastal city in Chile, left his belongings including laptop there, and was apprehended in a cab driving away from the coast.  Perhaps he was trying to cover his tracks, or attempting to find passage out of Chile.  He couldn't remember where he had left his things, but I'm sure the officials in Chile have located them by now.

I remember reading that Stephany's father said when she was found that her jewelry was missing.  She clearly has earrings on in the video.  He also said her purse and money were not in the room.  She isn't carrying a purse into the room.  I heard a friend state that Stephany did not date men and would never have gone to Joran's room for a sexual encounter.  In fact, the way the two of them walk into the hotel and into the room is not intimate or even friendly.  Neither talk to each other and they don't walk together or hold hands.  She follows him and he is definitely leading the way.

We'll soon find out from forensics if he drugged her, but I think it is likely from the time spent sitting in her car and the drug wrappers found there.  I have thought and thought about what Joran might have said to her to get her to follow him to his room.  There's only one thing that makes sense.  I think he borrowed money from her to play poker and told her he had the cash in his hotel room to pay her back.  She had no intention of staying in his room, but just wanted to pick up the money he owed her.  Joran intended to rob her of the money she carried, possibly rape her.  I imagine when the drugs wore off and she realized his intent she then fought him.  Enraged, he killed her.

But weren't they together for a couple of days? Think I read that somewhere.

I wonder why they released the video of Joran and Stephany going to the hotel and into the room and Joran leaving the room with his luggage, but not the video of Joran leaving to get coffee and coming back with two cups of coffee and bread?  It just seems odd as this video would be chronologically in the middle of the other two clips.  I'd like to see what clothes he is wearing when going for coffee and if there is blood or signs of a fight on those clothes.  Joran's manner at that time would be interesting, too.

The young Dutchman Joran van der Sloot, who is wanted for murdering a woman 21 years old Lima, and only suspect in the disappearance of an American teenager in Aruba in 2005, arrived in Lima on Saturday to appear in court.

Van der Sloot was shown three times in front of dozens of photographers at a brief news conference in Lima headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department, showed his face tired but he never lowered his head and answered questions from journalists.

Interior Minister Octavio Salazar introduced the young Dutchman without giving details of his capture during the news conference and said that "we can not rush things, nor can we provide details concerning the activity or the investigation itself."

After Van der Sloot present at a press conference murder police interrogated the citizens Netherlands in the presence of the prosecutor, confirmed the head of the Criminal Investigation Directorate General Cesar Guardia.

The Lima daily El Comercio reported Saturday, citing a police report, that the death of the Peruvian Stephany Flores, 21, occurred between 8:10 and 9:30 am on Sunday 30 May.

According to this version and Flowers Van der Sloot admitted at 5:15 am at the hotel at 8:10 CT and the Dutchman left the hotel, he bought two cups of coffee and bread in a shop front, returned to stay, again leave at 9:30 and boarded the van de Flores carrying a small briefcase and a backpack.

Earlier, south of Lima, a small crowd hurled insults the suspect 22 years when I transferred from a police truck roads. He wore a bulletproof vest and the same clothes he wore when he was arrested in Chile on Thursday: a hooded sweatshirt and pants kaqui color.

Chile gave Van der Sloot at the border on Friday, the Peruvian police transferred him to the capital in a caravan on a journey of nearly 17 hours.

Chilean Fernando Ovalle The sub-prefect said the Dutchman denied killing Stephany Flores. But Van der Sloot did acknowledge having met and that "at some point was taken to a casino."

The girl's father, Ricardo Flores, told The Associated Press that video cameras filmed the couple as they walked in the morning to the hotel Van der Sloot from a casino in the upscale neighborhood of Miraflores, where they met playing poker.

Flores said he did not want the death penalty for Van der Sloot, but only hopes that justice is done. The greatest punishment for murder in Peru is 35 years in prison.

Van der Sloot remains the prime suspect in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba. The disappearance occurred exactly five years before the murder of Flores.

Flores told the AP that Van der Sloot "is going to have to talk, you have to tell ... my daughter has been instrumental for this girl to see justice done."

I have a terrible feeling that joran is going to make a deal to serve his time in the Netherlands in exchange for telling where Natalee's remains are.....and I think Stephany's father is going to approve the deal.....his compassion for Natalee's family is enormous.....and to be honest I am not sure how I feel about this....but I am leaning towards the deal (if there is one).....Dave and Beth deserve to be able to bring anything left of Natalee home.

I thought I read that he met her in the casino on Friday evening.  Then they saw each other there again on Saturday night.  I have not read that he spent any time with her other than both playing in the casino on multiple nights.  The only time they spent together alone was in her car for a little over half an hour before going to his hotel room.

I hope that they have enough common sense not to release all material to the public at this stage, in fact i'm surprised they even released this part

Hi San.  I've been here since this news broke, but had nothing to contribute as the Monkey's were all over it right away.  These are very interesting video clips and body language speaks volumes.

Maximum life sentence for Van der Sloot

If the Dutchman Joran van der Sloot is convicted of murder, he could get a prison sentence between fifteen and 35 years. A conviction for robbery resulting in death could bring him life. That the Peruvian Mario Amoreti penal law against the ANP said.

The lawsuit against Joran van der Sloot will probably take a year. Normally within 24 hours to be decided what will happen with a suspect and he should leave the police cell. But the public prosecutor on the case is asked to put that to extend to seven days, according Amoreti. It is likely that in his being awarded.

The police and the Public Ministry are now in the hearing of witnesses and collecting evidence such as fingerprints.

So he might get 'life' in Peru. In Holland that's a long time too; maybe even 'life' as well.

OK, they have a video camera of the door into his hotel room. I am sure that they viewed the video from the time that JVDS left until they found her. This alone is all the evidence that a judge needs to see for a conviction. There is no escape from these charges.

You all seen the evidence from the video. There is zero doubt that this confirms what we all have known all along.

JVDS is GUILTY AS HELL !!!

There is always a reason for the release of evidence and, even more so, for not releasing particular evidence.  Unlike some US states, an open justice system is very new in Peru, but it appears that the authorities are releasing enough evidence to show they have their man but not too much as to tip their hand.

Good afternoon everyone.

This is from the "Recepcionista cuenta como encontro cadaver"

En tanto, la División de Homicidios ha mandado a analizar la raqueta encontrada en la habitación, que sería el arma de ataque.

Did you notice that Joran's leaving in a different colored shirt than when he walked into the room?

Did you also notice him turn the knob to make sure the door was locked.  Just saw it on Fox news.

that stuck out to me too San.

Joran is facing at least a couple years in a Peruvian prison before his case even goes to trial.  Anita is his only hope of obtaining legal representation and basic living necessities for the next couple years.  She needs to bring him money.  Without money, he's facing a living hell and may not survive it.

There are many puzzling things:

Where are shots of going for coffee and coming back?  What did he have with him and what was he wearing?

Notice what looks like a watch on Joran's left wrist--thought he didn't need a watch 'cause he always knew what time it is.

Jewelry was mentioned, couldn't see enough of Stephanie to tell.

Stephanie walks like someone slightly woozy and concentrating on the floor (where she is going.)  The only odd movement was as she reached the narrowed part of the reception area.  She reached slightly downward and toward front as tho' holding something from being banged or caught on her right.

I think she looks drugged, too.

I did notice her looking down the entire time. It's hard for me to tell if she looks drunk or drugged.... she's deffinatly wearing earrings.

2 Cups of Coffee

CCB writes: I think he was trying to formulate a theory where the purchase of 2 coffees would establish she was alive at the time and that something must have happened after he left...

Exactly.  The diabolical genius of van der Sloot at work.

Just a thought: I drink 3 cups of coffee before 9:00am, everyday, myself.  So what does the purchase of 2 cups of coffee prove?  Absolutely nothing.
