I wonder if there is a receipt or an statement from the clerk of where Joran purchased (reportedly 2 coffees and a loaf of bread). Wonder if he bought  clorox or took from hotel cleaning carts.   Wonder if he made any attempt to cleanse that room?

Not that it matters... his goose is cooked!

Sounds like they checked on the room because of a foul smell. When the employee got into the room they found Stephany's body laying on the floor face up bleeding out of the nose and ear and blunt force trauma all over her body especially her head.  THE EMPLOYEE CALLED POLICE.

They are saying there was blood all over the place so I expect Joran only cleaned himself up and nothing else.

Also, I suspect the found his things (bloody clothes/laptop etc) that he left behind in the hotel he stayed one night in Chile.  The hotel he couldn't remember.  I'm sure they found that and got his stuff.

Not look good for Joran, not one bit.

So the interrogations began yesterday.  I bet they went thru the night.  I wonder if he still can't remember where he stayed during his flight, where his bags are etc.  I take comfort in knowing that those tough looking Peruvian police officers are questioning him this time and not some relative or family friend.  Yes, I bet he had a very long night of questioning.... and after that 24 hr car ride with his pants falling off.  Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Morning all. I jumped ahead to here.

I see there was some discussion about - Aruba thinks ??? (not sure which case) is weak. Anna said maybe the extortion case, but she was drinking Mike's hard lemonade.

By this time next week Aruba will be laying the blame for everything on everyone - even George Bush. We've all been here long enough to know that they have one operating style.

Aruba will accept none of the blame and will launch a delirious campaign of deception. Time to fire up the ole Task Force.

Once the news cycle moves onto something else and it's just the hard core followers of these cases Aruba will be up to their old rot gut again. It's all they know. Drinking bathtub rum from sun up til sun down makes one as crazy as Boeti and as ugly as Machelle.

Aruba gets it bassackwards once again - in order to save tourism - YOU spin WHILE the news is hot - not after it has died down.

Let's face it - and I mean really face it, they KNEW this day was coming. I bet for five years they were wondering when this timebomb was gonna explode and the fingers would be pointing right at them again.

We will hear - 'We did everything to keep him locked up' - 'It's Beth's fault for letting her come down here' - 'what corruption?' and on and on and on.

We all know it's coming.

I hope Rubberlegs is up to it. <snicker>

My guess is the same hotel he couldn't remember staying at in Chile.  Looks like his hair WAS NOT bleached the morning he left the hotel where he killed Stephany.

I think you have this all correct - except - he was overdue on the room charges. He previously had a phone call that was not answered. They sent someone to the room (because of the room charges) - heard the TV on and that's when the person was alerted by the smell.

sorta shoots Cindy's and George's decomp story in the ass. even a hotel employee recognized the smell of a dead body. But I completely understand how a former homicide detective and a nurse could have no clue - < chuckles >

klaas - one of the brothers said he would pull out this laptop and look at it now and then and place it back in it's bag. So he had that with him, but probably no WiFi out in the desolate areas he was traveling.

I guess he was scanning Peru news sites to see if the body was discovered when he could.

Anyone find it curious that there was a camera right outside his door?
no - unlucky for Joran though.

Was it a camera that was placed near an opening where the elevators are or the stairs.  Would that be normal to have a camera place in a spot like that.

I'm sorry San, I don't know. I just saw them enter the room. I would have liked to see if there is in footage in the corridor.

In my humble opinion, Joran was attempting to cover his tracks - a weak attempt - but an attempt none the less. Everything Joran does is weak, and that's why he needed Paulus and Jan. And the IFA and Holland. On his own he is weak.

Thank God he didn't realize that a body could be placed in a suitcase and wheeled away - hence, missing. Missing yet probable cause to conclude death due to the forensics in the room. All the elements where there. Video. Entrance and exit.

"Don't bother my girl" - it's obvious. No need to explain that, it's apparent to all.

What's not apparent is the reason a lesbian would leave with him and actually end up in his room, and furthermore - how he persuaded Stephany to allow her guard down enough to think any stranger was safe.

The list of motives is long, afterall, we all KNOW Joran and his tendencies - so he could have used any of a hundred lures to get Stephany to enter his room.

I would not even discount - placing her winnings in a secure safe located in his room. This remains a mystery.

"If" Joran lost money to Stephany in a poker game, do you think it's possible that he told her his money was in his room and that's why she went to his room?

Doesn't make sense to me now that we hear that she had been talking about Joran van der Sloot about a month before (my understanding is that she had just found out about him on the interent...not that she had met him a month before).  In other words, "before" she met him she knew who JvdS was and so why didn't she just run away from him when she first met him in the casino?

I do believe Joran drugged Stephany during the 37 minutes they sat in her car after leaving the casino and before going to Joran's room.

Joran contacted his lawyer in Holland TWICE!
Once while he was on the run and the second time when he was detained in Chile!!

Helmond lawyer: Joran confesses not

Helmond - Joran van der Sloot has "certainly not aware" that his 21-year-old Stephany Flores killed in Peru.
"On the contrary," said his lawyer Bert de Rooij Helmond.

The counsel has an e-mail a few times had contact with Van der Sloot.
"Once when he was at liberty to my surprise and later from the police in Chile where he was stuck."

What does Van der Sloot had informed about his involvement in the case will not say De Rooij.
"This is not in the interest of Joran."

Van der Sloot in the night on Thursday as his mother called.
"She is shocked and worried. It is not nothing what she gets on her plate," says De Rooij, a former classmate who is the father of Van der Sloot.

Helmond The lawyer is currently looking for lawyers in Chile and Peru that Van der Sloot can assist.
Van der Sloot has been visited by a representative of the Dutch Embassy in Chile, said De Rooij.

Yep, he didn't have Daddy and his helpers to clean up after him this time.

I can't imagine why, he would have left bloody clothes in his room.  Pretty stupid of him. Stupid is as stupid does.

How interesting that Joran claims he just saw Stefany in the casino and has no other memory.

He's consistent with his memory problems.
Aruba seemed to rely on his memory of the evening in their decision not to hold him. That bought him precious time and space to weasel out of the first crime.

I'm curious to know how many women he has really killed.

He is also consistent with the way he brutalizes women.

The body language of her walking into the hotel room with him with her head down indicates he's manipulative and abusive.
I agree, her body language gives pause.

Has anyone heard if they have recovered Joran's laptop and other personal possessions?  I could be wrong but I think I read that when they picked him up he "couldn't remember" where he had stayed the night before or where his things were.

If he had her jewelry, I could see him unloading it quick just for the need of more cash if nothing else.  If hotel workers or whoever stole the jelwelry I would thing there DNA would also be on her body.  That of course would not be good for the prosecution, although it would be hard to believe that Joran's isn't all over her.

Traveling with a tennis racket would make sense.  He is a tennis player and most resort/vacation area have courts.

It does not make any sense that the hotel employees would have stolen any of here jewelry as the video shows no one entering the room from the time Joran left until they discover the body

No one with half a brain would steal jewelry from a scene like that
