He isn't getting out of this one.

His outlook on living through this is not good.

It's even worse when you consider... the first phone call

Van der Sloot may get a 30-year sentence in Peru

LivinginPeru.com
Isabel Guerra

After a 24-hour journey, Dutch citizen Joran Van der Sloot, prime suspect of murdering Peruvian Stephany Flores (21) arrived in Lima, escorted by a large number of police officers and journalists.

Chilean authorities had handed him in to Peruvian authorities yesterday.

Van der Sloot is currently at the Crime Investigation Unit headquarters, where he will be questioned on the details of the murder.

Peruvian attorney Luis Lamas Puccio, a very well known specialist, told El Comercio that the murder of Flores can be determined as aggravated murder, a crime that is sanctioned by Peruvian laws with jail sentence, between 15 and 30 years, depending on the circumstances.

Due to the fact that this murder was particularly cruel (Peruvian police recommended the family not to see the battered body due to the severe trauma signs), and that it seems to have been a premeditated crime, he may get the maximum penalty, that is, 30 years of jail, since there is no death penalty in Peru.

The first few minutes of this week's show is about the case, immediately following in "News in Brief" is a clip from a memorial service attended by Queen Beatrix honoring the American soldiers who died while liberating Europe during WWII.

I wonder if there is a receipt or an statement from the clerk of where Joran purchased (reportedly 2 coffees and a loaf of bread). Wonder if he bought  clorox or took from hotel cleaning carts.   Wonder if he made any attempt to cleanse that room?

Not that it matters... his goose is cooked!

Sounds like they checked on the room because of a foul smell. When the employee got into the room they found Stephany's body laying on the floor face up bleeding out of the nose and ear and blunt force trauma all over her body especially her head.  THE EMPLOYEE CALLED POLICE.

They are saying there was blood all over the place so I expect Joran only cleaned himself up and nothing else.

Also, I suspect the found his things (bloody clothes/laptop etc) that he left behind in the hotel he stayed one night in Chile.  The hotel he couldn't remember.  I'm sure they found that and got his stuff.

Not look good for Joran, not one bit.

I think you have this all correct - except - he was overdue on the room charges. He previously had a phone call that was not answered. They sent someone to the room (because of the room charges) - heard the TV on and that's when the person was alerted by the smell.

sorta shoots Cindy's and George's decomp story in the ass. even a hotel employee recognized the smell of a dead body. But I completely understand how a former homicide detective and a nurse could have no clue - < chuckles >

It's not surprising he chose not to answer questions about the Flores murder.  He's been on the run and on the road for how many days now, I'll bet he has no clue about the evidence they have against him.  He was never confronted in Aruba with evidence against him because they made it disappear.  I guess he thinks its the same old, same old..deny deny deny.  Surely he isn't aware of the videotape they have of him and Steph together entering his room.  In his sick mind, he probably thinks he can still beat this charge. Ohhhh the arrogance >.<

He (Carlos Gonzalo) said "they found bloodied clothes with" van der Sloot and that investigators are testing them, as well as the tennis racquet, for DNA.

Whoop! Whoop!  Whoop!

(I'm so far behind and have just gotten to this point...if more has come out about subsequent to this - like no clothes were found - I'm sorry, but just couldn't wait to read to the end to shout with joy over this tidbit)!

Carlos Gonzalo is with Peru's Interior Ministry...I wonder how that is connected to the police department, and is he their spokesperson?  I am wondering about some of his facts. They differ from some other reports from the police department.  Very confused (>.<)...aaakkkkk

The Dutch Consulate is now involved in the case and has volunteered a defense attorney for van der Sloot, according to Carlos Neyra, a spokesman for the Peruvian Investigative Police.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/05/peru.murder.case/index.html?hpt=T2

again, thanks carpe

ya know, I HATE to be so cynical, but it's part of my nature.

This is crap. Offering a defense - who didn't see that coming like a freight train. Let him pay for his own lawyers. He' a bigshot with poker winnings, travel accounts, and the jet-set playboy life.

Funny all the money miraculously dried up.

this has nothing to do with "offering counsel" - nothing at all. Mark my words.

AND here IT comes.

Change of venue motions, let's move him to a secure location in Holland and have the trial at the Hague, he is never gonna get a fair trial with you barbarians running the show. yada yada yada, blah blah blah ...

and with that - they make it perfectly clear that they were behind all the crap that Natalee's family faced for five f'ing long years. Sorry dutchies, you deserve better than this and you should not be footing the bill for any of this non-sense.

Uggghhhhh...

Hi ya Sunny! lol

Hi Rob..... I am with ya.....the beginning of a deal...I keep saying it cause I keep believing it

Joran contacted his lawyer in Holland TWICE!
Once while he was on the run and the second time when he was detained in Chile!!

Quote
Helmond lawyer: Joran confesses not
Friday, June 4, 2010 | 24:32 | Last updated: Friday, June 4, 2010 | 9:11 p.m.

Helmond - Joran van der Sloot has "certainly not aware" that his 21-year-old Stephany Flores killed in Peru.
"On the contrary," said his lawyer Bert de Rooij Helmond.

The counsel has an e-mail a few times had contact with Van der Sloot.
"Once when he was at liberty to my surprise and later from the police in Chile where he was stuck."

What does Van der Sloot had informed about his involvement in the case will not say De Rooij.
"This is not in the interest of Joran."

Van der Sloot in the night on Thursday as his mother called.
"She is shocked and worried. It is not nothing what she gets on her plate," says De Rooij, a former classmate who is the father of Van der Sloot.

Helmond The lawyer is currently looking for lawyers in Chile and Peru that Van der Sloot can assist.
Van der Sloot has been visited by a representative of the Dutch Embassy in Chile, said De Rooij.

Anita is a huge POS!! She should drop to her knees and beg forgiviness from the families involved.  She should appologize every opportunity she gets.

I so agree.
