Bernie Grimm said when you make video tape cases they rip the guy right there in the room.  He said they let the guy get out of the country.

Jim Hammer is hoping that they were trying to get more information.  He is hoping the FBI didn't drop the ball.

Ted Williams is horrified and the FBI dropped the ball.

Ted and Jim Hammer are disagreeing.  Ted said get him talking in the United States.

Bernie said the jury is out on the FBI.  Greta seems to think it's the FBI's fault.

They could have indicted him here in the U.S. and extradite him from Aruba.

You are doing great!  I thought our FBI had no authority or jurisdiction on Aruba.

Oh you know Magnolia they changed the law on May 10th.  Remember what Arlene Ellis (horseface) shipper said.  You don't understand our laws. Wink

I still say that Aruban authorities alerted Joran that he had been taped and told him to beat feet off
the island.  They didn't want all of this brought back to light on their piece of property.

Did I hear correctly that they gave him $10,000 cash and wired another $15,000 thousand for a total of $25,000 down payment on the information?

That is what I heard.....
$10K cash and $15K wired.....

But haven't we all seen how you must always get Aruba's permission for everything?  Did Aruba stall on a technicality???  Their laws, you know.

Yeah, technically Aruba had to tip him off and get him off the island.

Finally..after the commercial break.

Nope...it's the 11-year-old bullfighter. Honestly, the Golden Girls are still more relevant than 20/20, and that is not an exaggeration.

I'll keep that in mind, it's not on until later here.

I suppose Greta hasn't aired there either........ you can watch Greta's coverage before the other starts! I'm looking forward to your take on it, Klaas.

Greta is irritating me.  I find it hard to believe this all falls on the FBI's lap.  I have to believe Aruba told the FBI "no worries , we'll keep an eye on Joran".

Found it interesting that Mark Furman didn't mention anything about a BAT.
I thought that was odd too...maybe the authorities don't want everything out to the public? or there was no bat?

ONO - if I'm remembering correctly Joran was in his early teens 13 or 14?

OMG-that is serious vicious crapola.  He was a danger to everyone.  A time bomb ... that is so horrible.

History teaches me that when all is said and done, Aruba has, is, and will protect Joran. IMO, they feel compelled to at this point, because of all they did in the cover-up. His mud is their mud now. They don't want what they did to come to light either. Makes sense to me that they tipped him off.

Yeah give me a minute to get them.

Edited to add:  I don't know if I can find them right now but I'll try.  Last time I checked the search feature wasn't working and I don't think I have it as a screen cap.

I think we are only getting pieces of the true story at this point.  I noticed Fuhrman didn't mention the bat as well.. hmm...  Well according to this blog that I just read Joran was NOT entered in the poker tournament!   He was just attending it to watch it.

There has to be more behind his leaving Aruba and ending up in Lima than we know.  Perhaps his family cut the ties and with the heat on from the FBI he fled.  Anyway, here's the story from a guy from San Fran that went down to report on the tournament:

So I arrived in Lima Peru for my moonlighting job as a poker journalist covering the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT). The minute I got off the plane I heard on the news that Joran Van der Sloot, the suspect in the Natalee Holloway case was involved in the slaying of 21 year-old Stephany Flores of Lima.

The two met at the Atlantic City Casino--where the LAPT was being held--and were captured together on security video. This was mere hours before I headed to the casino.

I asked the guy in charge of LAPT registration if Van der Sloot was registered as a player in the tournament. He said there was no record--Van der Sloot was merely a "railbird" as they say in poker slang--standing elbow-to-elbow with the other spectators.

Hard to get through to post tonight... ah, the joys of a Crowded Cage again...

I hate to hear that about the death penalty but honestly, he will get the Max and that will likely not be "survivable" LOL. He might wish for solitary but that won't happen.

How is it that Joran was continuing to be tracked by the FBI? I was uinder the impression that he was just under private (and sporadic) surveillance.

He has been doing a LOT of bad things over the last 5 years. Thailand is a red flag of MASSIVE proportions, that is a center of porno and the sexual slavery trade. The fact that he wound up there absolutely SCREAMS out his involvement in major illicit activity that basically started w/ Natalee and has gone on in an UNBROKEN stream to this day. The Thailand connection is big like Rob has been pointing out.

And he probably has hurt and killed more girls than just the 2 we know about.

He was registered to play in something at the Atlantic City Casion.
I heard the brother of Stephany on CBS this morning telling that was how
they found out who he was.  The Atlantic City gave them his name and
passport number after he was identified on video.
The Atlantic City also had the name of the hotel where he was staying
and that is how they found Stephany.
