Has there been any discussion yet of exactly how and what Peru will do to prosecute a murder case? I assume they have a death penalty. I also can safely assume they have a functioning and efficient legal system UNLIKE ARUBA LOL which will follow evidentiary and due process rules that we might just find to be recognizably like our own legal system.

I know that South America is sort of a standing joke regarding governments and laws, etc., but Peru seems to be one of the better organized countries in that region.

It's also gratifying that whereas Joran was a HERO and an untouchable icon in Aruba, he is on the opposite end in this case... the ultimate villain, at the bottom of the food chain, accused of killing a popular and prominent young lady.

The Albanian citizen Elton Garcia (35) shared gaming table with the young Stephany Flores and his alleged murderer, Dutchman Joran van der Sloot at a poker international competition took place in our capital.

García, Uruguayan citizen, was staying since May in the same hotel where Van der Sloot and the girl was found Stephany. The police summoned as witnesses in Dirincri under investigation to clarify the murder occurred on Sunday.

According to his statement, Garcia knew nothing of the Netherlands since last weekend and decided to go in their search late Tuesday 1 June. That night I searched the Atlantic City hotel and then went to the hotel Tac where an employee told him in a room with Van der Sloot police had pulled the body of a young girl.

The police questioned him at the place and showed him a picture of the corpse which confirmed that it was Stephany. In addition, he said, recognized in the hotel security cameras to Joran entering the young Flores.

Van der Sloot friend admits to having met Stephany
The Uruguayan citizen Elton Garcia went to look after not finding them at a dinner, however, could not locate them, she says.

The Albanian Uruguayan citizen and partner of murder suspect Joran van der Sloot Netherlands, Elton Garcia, was quoted by the Criminal Investigation Department and said he met Flores Stephany before the crime.

According to their statements, the foreign national is hosted in early May in the same hotel Van der Sloot. He said also that he met the woman who died in the first week of the month while playing poker at the Fiesta Casino Benavides Avenue.

The anger hasn't come yet.  It will as soon as the deep shock and grief have eased a bit.

Peruvians are a funny breed. The anger may be there, but in a very subdued way until justice is served. These people believe highly in justice served later is as good as justice served quickly. Don't take your eyes off the family. Family to them is everything and this will not go unpunished.
