It makes me sad knowing that we just watched the video of her last moments alive, being led into that room like a sacrificial lamb to slaughter.

That had to be excruciating for her family to watch :monkeynono:

Sorry, NR! I've missed the reports that she was found wearing shorts. I don't have an explanation if that's true. I'd be curious to know if the shorts were Joran's because she sure didn't enter the room with anything to carry clothes in, and she was not wearing shorts.

Sunny? It's early, but I wouldn't worry too much about Peru turning Joran over to the Netherlands, for any reason. They seem far too pleased to have him to turn him loose.

I hope you are right...but I have a sinking feeling......

Does anyone remember if a life sentence on the Netherlands is life?  I thought it was about 25 years or so for murder......I know they think gang rape is minor offense...ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Life sentence in the Netherlands is a life sentence, but....

http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lijst_van_tot_levenslang_veroordeelden_in_Nederland

Here is a list of individuals that have received such a sentence since 1871, its a rather short list.
If they extradite JVDS i dont think he will serve 25 years in the netherlands let alone get a life sentence.
If peru sentences him to say 25 years and extradites him his sentence will be reviewed and chances are that he walks after a few years because the dutch legal system "values" crimes differently.

If he is extradited he will cost the dutch taxpayer about 200 € a day  73.000 € a year. On old people in retirement homes etc are not supposed to be allocated more than 70 to 170 euros a day.

So if at all possible keep him in Peru.

Chili authorities said Joran "forgot" where he slept (address) the night before he was detained. They wanted to go retrieve his laptop and baggage for examination, which I'm assuming were not with him in the taxi they found him in. Of course he would say he doesn't remember......he knew damn well there was incriminating
evidence in his bags. I'm pretty confident they were able locate where Joran spent the night. There was a intense manhunt for his ass. Anyone who rented a room to him would have come forward, IMO.

I'm still going with my translation of the murder weapon as a tennis racket. Of course I could be wrong. He may have broke the handle off and used it to hit her.

Various things aren't very clear," Guardia said, among them the killer's motive.

It certainly wasn't money, he said. Van der Sloot had no problem paying for his escape to Chile.

He gave a truck driver 1,500 Peruvian soles ($525) to take him from Ica, a town south of Lima, to the Chilean border, the driver, Luis Aparcana, said in a TV interview. He said van der Sloot didn't speak Spanish very well and carried two suitcases.

Aparcana said van der Sloot "was worried because he kept smoking cigarettes. He didn't have a cell phone but he had a laptop that he would take out, handle and then put back."

That laptop probably has the last five years of his life recorded on it and all his transactions from deals made to receive  money to talk to different people.  that laptop probably has the makings of his next book on it about Natalee.

Okay, I've got one.

When Joran leaves the hotel, it looks like he's got a back pack and (just) one small valise, maybe a duffle bag. His laptop must have been inside one of these.

The two brothers/taxi drivers said he had a ruck sack and two suitcases. (I'm guessing "ruck sack" = back pack.)

How do we suppose the second "suitcase" materialized?

he has it

I agree that the laptop is probably a gold mine of information.  Young people today have their whole life stored in their laptops.  The hard drive will reveal far more than Joran will ever say.

Life is life.

thanks Robert!  is their life with parole after x amount of years?

Normally life is life without parole (I think). But not all murderers get life. So I'm not sure if a Peruvian 'life' would translate in a Dutch 'life' although this one, premeditated robbery.., possibly with GHB... and very violent murder seems a heavy one to me.
But btw the agreement between Peru and The NLs isn't signed yet.

And there's the US case of extortion of Beth so which ever way... He won't be out soon.

Joran is facing at least a couple years in a Peruvian prison before his case even goes to trial.  Anita is his only hope of obtaining legal representation and basic living necessities for the next couple years.  She needs to bring him money.  Without money, he's facing a living hell and may not survive it.

Where is the legal representation the DUTCH said they would pay for, for him??

I thought that too, Nut. I'm taking comfort though, knowing Joran was never able to have one thought about Daddy helping him with this. Try it on, it's not a bad fit! LOL!

We have to look at things in different ways.  If Paulus' heart did hold out we wouldn't be here discussing Stephany's murder.  It's weird how things happen.  Unfortunately another young girl had to die.

Joran in the hotel video

What a psycopath serial killer looks like when he leaves the crime scene - Joran leaving his room after murdering Stephany

Edited by EURobert

Where's the manual "How to embed video's of different sources in a SM comment." ? Sad

Please forgive if this was already answered!

I don't know how to embed videos from other sources, but I took this screen shot of Klaas' instructions on Youtube's a while back so I could reference it when needed, lol.

There are many puzzling things:

Where are shots of going for coffee and coming back?  What did he have with him and what was he wearing?

Notice what looks like a watch on Joran's left wrist--thought he didn't need a watch 'cause he always knew what time it is.

Jewelry was mentioned, couldn't see enough of Stephanie to tell.

Stephanie walks like someone slightly woozy and concentrating on the floor (where she is going.)  The only odd movement was as she reached the narrowed part of the reception area.  She reached slightly downward and toward front as tho' holding something from being banged or caught on her right.

I think she looks drugged, too.

I did notice her looking down the entire time. It's hard for me to tell if she looks drunk or drugged.... she's deffinatly wearing earrings.

Her family will be able to tell if she's walking normally.  The earrings are easy to see, but can't see what is in her right hand.

What was she wearing when they found her, the same outfit?

Reports say she was fully clothed, so I would assume that means yes.

All I can find so far is that she was fully clothed wearing shorts.  She was not in shorts entering the TAC.

Thanks CBB and Northern Rose.

I thought I heard "fully clothed" but in something different from what she was originally wearing.  If so, they would have been Joran's clothes.
