ARUBA: It's all about Natalee...we won't give up!

Laten we niet te vroeg juichen - Let's not cheer to early as we say in Dutch

This is not a victory:
- Not premeditated so not murder but manslaughter.
- Not rob as motive so not life in prison

Conclusion: he’s hoping for a less than ten year conviction in a comfortable Dutch prison.

He's not in Aruba anymore.  I just don't see that happening!

He's not telling the whole truth!  He knew just what and how much to say.  He's had a lot of advice and practice over five years!

Does anyone think he still has a chance to get preferential treatment from the justice system? Will he be protected from the general prison population because he is high profile?

Depends on what "preferential" means.  In a program (I forgot which one) earlier this evening there was someone being interviewed that had seen many, many prisons and he said Peru had the worst.  He was talking about prisoners sleeping on the floor, etc.  In some cases they got to sleep two to a bed - maybe that would be preferential treatment for Joran.

He was with women in Colombia
By J. Yucra
Joran van der Sloot arrived in Lima on May 14, but a week before he was in Bogota, Colombia, where he went to casinos and surrounded himself with women, some of which have disappeared and are wanted by the police.

"During his stay abroad he stayed in two hotels in Bogotá", published a local newspaper, which tells us that there are several girls who are as non-gotten.

On the other hand, in the next few hours come to Lima, Anita van der Sloot, Joran's mother, from Aruba. On Sunday she spoke with her son, who assured him: "I have not been. I am being accused. I am innocent."

Oh, my gosh!  If there are ANY women missing because of Joran...I hope it's all discovered.
According to FBI, if you kill 3 or more people, they consider you a "serial killer".  If any women were killed in Colombia.....

Wonder what Anita thinks of her little sporter now?

And not just for the past 5 years. No doubt daddy taught him some legal stuff even long before '05.

That'll never happen.  He'll spend his 20-plus years in a Peruvian Prison.  That much I'd bet the farm on.  And, remember I said this the next time there's big news regarding JDVS...he'll be dead in the next 6 months to a year.  No way he makes it past 12 months.  The Dutch won't touch him.  He's a man with no Country now.  That Peruvian Prison will be his hospice...

I just received a message from my cousin is a doctor and she is working in the jail. She said that they will see if the guy was treated before of any king of psychiatric disorder ans see if he was under medication. I don't know if that will be important in the case but crazy or not he killed for robbery.

Thanks Cecilita

I don't think it'll have any bearing on the case. He knew killing was wrong, and by running away and lamely trying to disguise himself, shows he knows right from wrong.

So what's the procedure now that there's a confession?

I just cannot beleive this!!! We are all here and we are reacting to Joran confessing to murder in a system that can and will hold him accountable!

A murder that occurred on the 5th anniversary of when he murdered Natalee.

A murder that occurred after Natalee's Mother had seized an opportunity to get him off the streets and had him hemmed in.

A murder he has confessed to stating it was Natalee that caused the rage.

Stephany's father graciously said that God would allow Stephany's death to be an instrument to bring justice for Natalee.

I accept Stephany's Father's view. We are all together and we are seeing it. Justice for Natalee is no longer just wishful thinking. We are witnessing it unfold before our eyes! Natalee cannot be extracted from this. Aruba, Joran, Van der Stratten, Depak, Paulus............ no one could silence Natalee and what she was and what they did to her. The island couldn't restrain the truth, the ocean couldn't swallow the lies, and the universe cried out that the blood of a young girl, full of promise, hope, and potential  could not be swept away. Beth's pain was felt, her tears were seen and her prayers were heard.

She will have peace that Joran will never know.

HOPE is the inexplicable empowerment that enables us to move successfully from challenge to resolution with courage....

It's the guarantee that there's light at the end of whatever tunnel we're trying to find our way through....

It's more than just wishful thinking....

It's more than just a feeling....

Joran wanted a "rich chick

by Johan Van den Dongen
ORANGE CITY - Joran van der Sloot in Lima wanted a rich woman hooked. The thought left him in a poker friend in Aruba not let go.

Joran, suspected of the murder of the wealthy Stephany Flores, became obsessed by size according to the poker idea. The Dutchman met Joran at the poker room at the Radisson Hotel in Aruba. "During the period that Joran's father died and was buried, was Joran on Aruba and of course in the poker room," said the man, who wishes to remain anonymous.
Amazed
"When I was playing at a table with American tourists, slid Joran on. In the beginning you're still somewhat surprised, but, especially since you're the only two Dutch speaking, you become a little busy. Especially about the lack of playing qualities of the opponents. One day I came into a big hand contact with Joran. He put a considerable amount of money and I said: If you are just as good bluff and lie, you're a very good poker player. Eventually I went along and won that pot. When the ice was broken and we had a great evening. "
"Not too smart and too independent '
Joran van der Sloot was looking forward to a rich girl who's not too smart and not too independent "was recalls his anonymous friend is poker. "What struck me were the many smoke and drink Joran and his fixation on money."
"After a few hours chatting he noticed my wedding ring and asked amazed how it is that I already am married. He looked me straight in the eye and asked how it is when someone really loves you. I felt a little uncomfortable. I responded with a joke and said that marriage is the best way to get rich quickly in a short time. This created a bizarre discussion. "" Joran said that he was afraid for its future. He saw opportunities, but the idea of a rich lady to find and then be sure of much money, spoke to him. He had even wat criteria for a candidate. It was ugly, so they are easy to decorate was, he reasoned. He thought that one pregnancy wel for would ensure a quick marriage. "

Thanks pdh3.  I thinks there are more victims too.

I worry that there may be victims in Thailand.  Many poor women who have no options in life and no one to worry if they go missing.  I even wonder if he has been involved in snuff films....it makes me sick.....he is a monster.

Makes me sick too.

I am infuriated that he's again blaming his victim for her own murder.....saying he didn't  want to kill her, but she was snooping so she was at fault. Very familiar tactic and so typical of Joran. I hope Stephany's family can make him SHUT THE HELL UP.
I don't believe that story anyway. It's another lie from Joran. But he did manage to get it out there that this girl was somehow at fault. He is beyond despicable.

Speaking of that extortion plot.  I heard on Dana's show that there were actually (2) payments made...one case, and one a wire transfer.  Is that true?  Also, I am extremely hopeful that Joran will now realize his life as he knew it is over, and he now has nothing more to hide and really provide info in order to find Natalee.  I'd trade a few less years in a Peruvian jail for the ability to have Beth and the rest of the Holloway family gain closure.  Wouldn't you?
